Now I want horse shoes with iron stiletto heels!

<holding head in hand> Be careful what you wish for . . .

There were many of these. The bit of good news is they are not actually for horses.

Several give a horseshoe imprint, several are visual puns with a horse head on the shoe, several are a show that looks like a horse hoof.

I believe the horses are thinking, "You U-mons go have your fun, and thank you for excluding us from this one."

  2. Comic for Monday, Dec 11, 2023

Panel 1: Dreams look like sugar cookies with star shaped sprinkles. It is raining cookies.

I'm not sure if 'Elliot' in panel 2 is Elliot; the hair looks like Elliot, but  the figure is wearing a neck tie, which suggests he is not Elliot. Maybe he is Elliot looking for a job near campus, and is dressed for an interview?

Speaking of cookies, Rich in panel 4 gets a cookie. However, the text says his being correct is random. It is not. Rich's point of view about anomalies is like a stuck clock, per the saying, "A stopped clock is right twice a day" (twelve hour clock, with no AM/PM indicator; these are common among old school dial clocks.) Rich is correct because the circumstances matched his normal biased canned speech explanation. To be random, he would had to have selected from among alternatives, and then hit the correct explanation.

George Carlin did this well. "Tonight's weather will be dark, followed by more dark, with gradual lightening in the morning."

Arthur arguing against a rational explanation is odd, but perhaps he has an actual sense that this is anomalous, perhaps something tied to being a seer.

However, during the Parable dream, Arthur was not present as the NPC that looked like Arthur; that NPC was dismissed when Mist dismissed the NPCs (and Jay got upset). So (back to panel 1) apparently various dreams were shared by different people, not just the one in the Parable NP arc. If that's true, Mist getting his magic stuck in Jays was a one time thing out of many invasive shared dreams. It seems odd that he only found Rhoda, not Nanase nor Edward. Perhaps, even with many dreams, Mist's overall coverage was weak? If he only connected a few people each time, only for one night, that seems quite possible.

A bit of speculation, the griffin side outlaws 'tech' - perhaps they are stuck in a middle ages lifestyle? High death rate during child birth, slower population growth? Maybe Mist has no clue how many people a town in the EGS universe has?

    She is a canid.

Despite my misleading icon, I am not, but I am an engineer. I do not chase squeaky toys (at least not very often), but I do things that are arguably just as silly.

If Florence ever visits the Earth, I wonder if squirrels are going to be a distraction.

Maybe they can do a crossover comic where Florence visits the EGS universe and meets Grace. In a shout out to Tedd's experience in a restaurant, they can all bond over calamari.

You definitely needed to post videos of that fox on YouTube.

Besides, hell, I'm a longstanding Native Texan who lives on cream gravy, not one of these newcomer MAGA types who couldn't spell gravy if you filled a fountain pen with the stuff.

This is a practice I have never observed in my few years living in San Antonio. What do you use it for? Sign your hams? I don't imagine it covers very well, is it for secret writing? Can you use any off the shelf fountain pen, or do you need a special culinary pen?

I could see this with gel icing for cakes. I think they have squeeze tube for that, but a fountain pen would give you more control and a finer line.

Are there other Texas uses for cream gravy we should know about? Spackling? Rinse your hair? Wash the S.U.V.? Dip your chips while you watch the Super Bowl?

Dammit, now I have to look online for a fountain pen so I can try this.

Do I need to spell 'Gravy' in cursive, or are block letters OK?

There were only five Awakened Seers in the entire world as of January of the current year in-story, so Arthur almost certainly had never met one prior to Tedd Awakening. Indeed, according to the Will of Magic, it is a rarity for more than two to be alive at the same time.

with population growth, the number available at any time should slowly increase. If three is a current exceptional time, two might be a new norm.

And Arthur probably plans on doing so once Tedd is fully brought into the fold. In the meantime, a teacher who was created by Arthur will do as a substitute.

Kevin was made to be a training aid for new agents. As rare as seers are, it seems unlikely that he would have been given the specific ability to train them. Seems like Arthur could have, though, so it might happen.

I don't follow your train of thought, and suspect you're misunderstanding the comic. The movie that Susan and Elliot just watched prior to the non-flashback part of this comic was about high school, which got Susan thinking about how "we're" (we are = we will be) graduating soon. It hasn't happened yet.

I agree. I was either tired or distracted and misread her comment. They have not yet graduated. Your timeline looks accurate.

The rectangular dialogue boxes with the gray dashed border do seem to be Fraud King speaking, whereas Mist has rounded boxes with normal borders.

From the general set-up, Mist is a zealot who believes in the cause, while Fraud King is very likely to let the power go to his head and become the very sort of tyrant that he claims to oppose.

One of the Three Otherside Stooges uses that same dashed border, so we can assume that is the Fraud King, Saou. The other uses an octagonal speech frame, a rectangle with the corners clipped. I'd assume that's Potestas, 'Our future king's protector'. What's the point of a protector if he is not present? So we have names for all three of them. Presumably, Potestas is the tall one.

Side note, Dan is not consistent with using the distinct borders.

I'm going to guess that the magic staff thing they are lugging around is the Royalty aura capture device.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program, Horsing Around with Mist.

  9. Found one more that is more relevant now. The foundations of a bad plan, and Liam's prejudice. Presumably the speaking voice at the end is 'Fraud King'.

The cameos - three people confirmed to have Royalty aura; Nanase, Edward, and Rhoda; then a blonde girl I don't recognize; too tall to be Sarah, hair is too long to be Diane; then Luke juxtaposed with 'we might find someone with an ability to use to find them (Royalty)'; then a silhouette of the speaker.

  10. So I went back and reread the contact with Liam. Liam has a distinct prejudice against Royalty (2nd panel). He is convinced that they are coercive, in spite of a. being from a different universe and b. Tara and Andrea's relating Nanase's unawareness of what Royalty was. If he's not evil, he is definitely a bonehead. 'Things must be the way I imagine them to be.'

Details about Royalty aura: Only humans, Looks like a crown - associated with power, so may need training; also some people have power but not the Royalty aura (all on last linked comic). Also there is a hint that Edward thinks Tedd does not have a Royalty aura.

(We don't know if Edward can see this aura or not. Wouldn't someone who had one be almost blinded by it if they could see it?)

This comic makes more sense, now.
