On a different note, having blood taken from your wrist hurts like all 'ell. Mine is tender and my head's still spinny.

Word of warning: if you ever hear a doctor order someone to take arterial blood from you, RUN LIKE HELL IF YOU CAN. One of the worst pains I've ever felt in my life.

  3. I may have been ninja'd on this, but I think it's entirely possible that the new spell Elliot received is a male secret identity. He may find this out in the next strip.

As for the rest of the thread, I was told there would be no math. :icon_confused:

It's also possible that Elliot still identifies as male, but can enjoy being female.

This is what I'm thinking. Elliot doesn't mind morphing into a girl, but he would likely have a bit of a problem if a male approached him in a "What are you doing Friday night?" manner when he's in female form.

Is this pain something new, or suddenly greater than before?  If so, it could be a sign of a problem with the equipment in there.

It's greater than before, but not because of hardware — I had all of it removed on the leg that's hurting, several years ago. The left leg/ankle has always hurt more than the right for some reason, even when I was in the hospital wearing the "moon boots" (as we came to call them). Don't know if it was broken worse than the right one or just not surgically fixed as well. Go figure, eh? :(

If you ignore the warnings eat first. It'll give your stomach a fight chance sort of speak.

    Have done. Thanks.

  6. I need an outlet for venting. Sorry for what follows.

My left ankle is KILLING ME. Specifically, I've got constant, throbbing pain in the area where I suffered the bimalleolar fracture back in 2009. The place where the orthopedic surgeon inserted a plate and screws has been hurting more frequently than usual over the past week. It's been a steady pain since around 5:00 a.m. this morning, ranking around a 7 or 8 on the 1-to-10 pain scale, and it is interfering with my concentration.

I've taken an extra dose of tramadol plus some Tylenol in response, but they don't seem to be doing any good. I'm tempted to ignore doctor warnings about gastric bleeding and take an NSAID (like Aleve or ibuprofen), just out of sheer desperation.

This is one of those times where I wish I were in a pain management program so that I could get something stronger than tramadol—perhaps fentanyl patches or a stronger pill. At the same time, I absolutely don't want to have to go through the paperwork and office visit hell required to get pain management treatment. It's hard enough for me to get out of the house for *any* reason, much less for weekly check-ups with a doctor who treats you like a potential drug addict.

Almost seven years after the incident and I'm still screwed up. At least the Social Security Disability determination is still in place after a few conversations with the SSA. It's turning into a quality-of-life issue, damn it. I don't know what to do anymore.

I know the race was not named for the hat.

But at an event that celebrates millinery madness, a few prominently displayed derbies would almost seem to be mandatory.

Is it a tradition for men to wear distinctive hats at the Kentucky Derby? I thought that was just a thing for women.
