I have worked in a lot of industrial settings & this is somthing that seems to takes a lot of people by surprise.

Lava, & other gritty hand soaps, regularly clog drains.  Pumice & other abrasives build up like sand in the traps. Plungers, snakes, drano and roto rooter won't get that out.  The traps need to be removed & cleaned.

Not saying don't use it. Just saying extra work is required.

In the late 1800s, a movement in American politics put the blame for all problems on alcohol.  It became almost impossible to win an election without the endorsement of a Temperance society.  If a politician was not "Dry" he would be voted out, probably in the primaries where even a small dedicated and mobilized block could determine the win.

As Prohibition ran its course, almost everyone could see that none of the desired results had been realized.  But even though 3/4 of the US Congress passed the amendment to repeal, it was feared that ratification would be impossible.  Needing to win 3/4 of the State Legislatures to ratify, that meant 13 states voting "No"would be enough to keep it on the books.  And there were more than 13 states where the temperance societies could determine the majority of the state house membership.  That is why 21st amendment was passed by "Ratifying Conventions" rather than through the legislatures.

After the "Rowe v Wade" decision, a lot of "Pro Life" groups sprouted up across the country.and it became very difficult for any Republican candidate to win an election, especially a primary election, without their support.

When the Supreme Court reversed the "Rowe v Wade" decision, a few Republicans were heard disagreeing with the decision or even proposing legislative guarantees  for reproductive rights.  But most of those voices from the right were quickly silenced.

13 state legislatures voting "No" is well within their capability.
