  1. I once had an appointment to meet a Lord of Chaos to discuss my post-Pharonic career choices.

But he wouldn't stick to the structured schedule and I got tired of waiting.

Of course, then I met the Lords of Order and they were real jerks.

So when I retire, I will instead align myself with the Earls of Entropy.

I imagine he'd be taking into consideration that Tedd needs to continue regular studies to finish high school.

Are you kidding?  The FBI could make Tedd an intern who is "Paid" in college credit.  They could keep Tedd working twenty hours a week for the next six years or so, until earning a Masters (or Lordship), and pay Tedd less than the custodian.

  3. One day on a train in 1935, future US President Gerald Ford was offered NFL contracts from  Curly Lambeau of the Packers and Potsy Clark of the Lions.  He declined them both and took a job as an assistant coach at Yale to work his way through law school.

Tedd, this is your train ride.  Arthur is giving you a legitimate offer.  Or do you want to keep working on your own as you strive for Lord Tedd status?

Whatever shall come next?  Will a Jamaican Bobsled team get the gold in 2020?

Not likely.  I don't think they are building a Bobsled Sliding facility for the Tokyo games of 2020.
Now perhaps at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing...?

I have heard some commentary that these Olympic Winter Games were a disappointing finish for Team USA because they wound up in fourth place in both Gold and Overall medals.

    I disagree.

True, the US didn't end up with a massive medal haul like in Salt Lake or Torino.  But I am from an older generation that still remembers when US athletes had almost no chance to win traditional Alpine or Nordic ski events.  I recall 1968 when Peggy Fleming was the only American to win Gold.  In 1980, there were five Gold medals won by one American, with a sixth won by an Ice Hockey team you may recall.

American Ladies no longer dominate figure skating.  This is because the American figure skating organizers did not adjust to new standards teams like the Russians were using that encouraged riskier maneuvers.  This is probably the biggest round of catch up US figure skating has been forced to undertake since the 1961 Sabena flight 548 crash.

Athletes from many countries that are not traditionally known for winter sports can now compete, and contend for medals, along side traditional powerhouse nations.  Short track speed skating that trains and competes on a hockey rink rather than a velodrome type oval has helped make this sport more accessible.  Many long and short track skater now have world class competition roller blading backgrounds.  Plus the freestyle skiing and snowboarding events where gymnastics, skateboarding, and surfing skills can be translated to the snow have allowed more warm weather competitors a way up to the podium.  More than a few people, my self included, assumed that the North Americans would simply dominate these X-Games type events for a very long time.  I am glad I was wrong.

Speaking of powerhouse nations, Norway once again dominated in a record setting fashion.  It wasn't that long ago Norway was sharing a Kingdom with certain other countries.  How is it, that in the divorce, the Norwegians got all the winter sports talent?

Still, these were good Winter Games.  Overall and for Team USA.  The best ever?  Maybe not.  But not a disappointment.

I will, however, repeat an earlier concern.

How does taking away the flag and uniforms from the 2018 athletes from Russia punish the Russian coaches, trainers, managers, promoters, and politicians from 2014?

there might not be such division in groups if you couldn't lump em by label.

Unfortunately, there will always be the labels of "Me, Us, and Them".

A given "Me" can quickly change a particular individual or group from "Them" to "Us", or vice versa.
But that change of opinion is never certain to happen.

Whoever ends up trying to catalogue all the magical effects and artifacts (because someone in the setting will. If nothing else, someone will set up a wiki about it. Wikis are everywhere) is going to have their work cut out for them if any of the old systems have a resurgence. Seemingly conflicting rules make for massive headaches.

I wonder how many "Ancient Magic Artifacts" in storage will turn out to be fakes?  And of those that aren't fakes, will the actual power level be significantly different (plus or minus) than the artifact's reputation would imply?

  7. Mixed doubles curling.

Team events in Figure Skating, Luge, and Alpine Skiing that involve male and female competitors.

Now that there are events where men and women compete side by side, will any major athletic authorities organize or permit unrestricted competitions involving athletes who do not fit into binary gender categories?

    "Why does gravity hate me?"

    Gravity does not hate you.
    It just ignores other people.
Ski Jumpers, for example.  The "best" ski jumpers are the individuals that gravity ignores most often.

Of course, when gravity stops ignoring a ski jumper you wind up in a Vinko Bogataj situation

I imagine Arthur is going to have a very busy Monday, unless he works weekends.

I suspect Arthur hasn't allowed himself a day off since replacing Edward in the Investigation division.  At the very least not since he made his TV debut.

That was a little too easy. Does anyone else have a feeling of impending doom right now?

I really think those three should have tried to find out what sort of changes WoM was considering, particularly for the "minor changes and go public" option. Maybe it's just my pessimism speaking, but I suspect that when the new rules are revealed, Tedd isn't going to be very happy with them.

    Or to rephrase the idea,

here's a question: Suppose what magic thinks is a small change actually *is* catastrophic for human magic-users?

Arthur and Tedd should be asking some very detailed questions about now.

After all, small changes can make a huge difference.

Small changes to Star Wars wound up giving us Jar Jar.
