That said, companions tend to be better at it than the full on NPCs.

Less than an hour (potentially as short as 5 mins, as Remnant said). And I'm assuming it's more meant to be symbolic than literal as is (ie: the goofy lizard things are just a stand in for any enemy type, really). The first time I played New Vegas bandits attacked the very starting town as soon as I was finished with the intro scripting. Was about 10 minutes, as getting through the tut took me a bit due to adjusting controls and such.

Well, yeah. I mean, if you're getting into esoteric programming languages we can talk Malboge, Brainf**k, or Shakespeare Programming Language.
  4. Story Monday March 28, 2016

It's interesting to apply this type of thinking / analysis / linguistics thought to programming languages. They have to be very rigidly defined...but still often grow and mutate over time...while still having to be absolutely rigid in their definitions and grammar. And the breaks tend to come from just outright creating a new language (if not outright whole cloth, then close to it). EDIT: And I feel there's an interesting comparison to make between the two styles of language and how each type evolves and how they're created. Additionally, I feel there's an interesting conversation to be had between linguists on both sides.
  5. Yeah, those are some...worryingly large hips. @_@
  6. Glad to see that Dan's giving out the beefcake alongside the cheesecake, considering how the votes tend to go on the Patreon. (Seem to be more gynophiles than androphiles over there. Granted, that works out for me, but it's nice to see other parties getting served as well).
  7. More Speculation.

Honestly the most truly evil thing I can think of in the comic that we've seen is Damien. The only things that come close are the abominations / vampires...so I guess I'm in the Sirleck camp. (Though truthfully that tweet looks like a joke to me. "So EEEVIIIILLLL ~pinky~ One MILLION dollars! Ahahaha ~pinky~")
  8. Story Monday March 28, 2016

Yeah, I only see the friendship. But were they to go beyond that, they would be a cute couple, I could see. I merely very much doubt it'd ever happen.
  9. Story Monday March 28, 2016

Basically summed up my thoughts on this page nicely.
  10. NP Friday March 25, 2016

    Battlefield Earth?
  11. Story Monday March 21, 2016

Haha, I was like "but...that's not what I was saying? "
  12. NP Monday March 28, 2016

Only if you're focused on the main storyline. You could spend hundreds of hours in New Vegas and only touch a few main story quests, while still doing tons of other quests and stories. Granted, that'd be pretty tough (more so than the main line) doing it all non-aggressive, but...
  13. Pronouns

It's also possible that Dan was using it to speak in the third person for humor reasons, and not saying anything about his pronouns at all. I dunno which is more likely, but it's possible. ~shrug~
  14. Story Monday March 21, 2016

Because Sarah and Susan were friends even before the comic started? We were introduced to her as Sarah's friend, iirc.
  15. NP Friday March 25, 2016

It's really nice when they have them and are actually good though.
  16. NP Friday March 25, 2016

Yeah...but there are better ways to work with your audience than having you be shot in the head within nearly arms distance and surviving though, while still trying to play it off as a big deal. I feel you don't get to play both sides of that one. ~shrug~
  17. Story Monday March 21, 2016

The difference is that you seem to think that someone who isn't talented at teaching kids is (somehow, for reasons I don't comprehend) a worse teacher than someone who can. (ie: "less competent"), when they're completely different tasks with completely different and incompatible types of difficulty. I find that insulting to all involved.
  18. Story Monday March 21, 2016

...we'll have to agree to disagree, as I can't think of a more ludicrous statement to make on the subject. Teaching kids is a different kind of skill than teaching young adults. You can't handle it the same way, and you shouldn't try to force someone who's good at one to attempt to do the other without proper training and preparation time.
  19. Story Wednesday March 23, 2016

...huh? I see nobody on this page who could qualify as "chubby". We still do not know everything about them. But they are certainly not looking good right now. Except possibly to those who would otherwise have been victims of the vampires. What truly makes what they do problematic is that they seem to have alternatives -- other mages, the DGB, the French version of the DGB -- and for some reason they are not making use of them. Yeah, I'm thinking we're going to be hearing from the Griffons about this half of the world's unfortunate flip of the coin (pun intended, sorry JML) on what they got as opposed to Ancients. I'm pretty sure she does, she knows that she awakened that day, and she knew the general description of Jerry from when Diane described the guy that stopped her from drinking the punch, and she'd have to know about his pledge to aid Susan and her friends because Diane being Susan's sister would fall under that pledge. I agree. I'm pretty sure we saw the aftermath of that talk when Susan first showed Nase off to Nanase, and made a non-snarky joke. That wouldn't explain them having lead Andrea on the whole time she was here, though. Seems they were doing to Andrea what He-Who-Glows-In-The-Dark was doing to Tara. I very much doubt this is the case. I also doubt this. I think that Immortals are totally able to find something that a griffin mage created. I'd go so far as to speculate that they might have been intentionally obscuring it from Andrea, though that might be a bit unfair (not out of line from what we've seen of them though). Additionally, I very much doubt they'd have a hard time finding two griffins in a world without any, especially as Charlotte's Angels crew could pull it off. No, it's very much not. @Haylo and @Hunendora's responses, sure. (though there's still no excuse for them if Haylo's is correct: Just because a person is old doesn't mean their memories of the horrors of times past should allow them to perpetuate said horrors). No she didn't swap places with the doll, the dolls were destroyed, she transformed on the roof of the school and flew over to where Abraham had Ellen. Ninja'd by Scotty.
  20. Story Monday March 21, 2016

Just because he didn't mention them doesn't mean they aren't competent. And I can't figure out what you mean by that second sentence at ALL. Some people just don't handle children / kids / teens very well. Or their teaching style doesn't work well for them (Try running a high school or Jr High class with the laxness and/or style of a college class and see how well it works for ya). Or they deal in dangerous subjects that you have trouble teaching to minors / people in high school or younger for legal reasons. That bolded part is really mind-boggling to me. I'm not completely certain that's an assumption we can make. Could have been both, too. When I started Tang Su Do it was because of a joint desire from my dad and I to get into martial arts. I don't know of any cereal with marshmallows in it that is even slightly healthy, much less children's cereals. (But I still agree with your point). It seems a safe assumption.

    Illuminated?
  22. We have a chat room!

Yeah, the times have lined up such that I've never actually seen you in it. I always say hi when I pop in, but it's rare to get a response.
  23. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

Yeah, a lot of people thought he was originally going to say "his mother" instead of "his father".
  24. Story Monday March 21, 2016

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Dan's said that he planned for the main arc of EGS to be post high school, back when initially developing the comic. My bet is that we're heading towards a Justice League, Avengers, or Incredibles style superhero team when they hit their college years.
