Wouldn't she be blocking the woman's face, then?

I can see a new interpretation of The Woman With Susan's Face: Susan already knows she was adopted. If she suspects The Woman was her birth mother, she would be wondering not only why she was given up, but why her birth mother never came back after that night.

And also, she would be thinking her dad was a total asshole.

I feel we've seen too much of Susan's direct thoughts on the matter for that to not have come up. There's no hints of her suppressing/excising any thoughts on that front either.

A lot of us thought Ashley was going to get the gender-bender mark that went to Tedd...

We still don't actually know the shape of Tedd's mark. It's probably the intersex/male-female combined symbol...but we haven't seen it or been told what it looks like yet, iirc. Just that it exists.

How's this for a rationalization? Ashley has been into transformation for a long time. As a child, she tried transforming herself over and over again until she gave up trying. Now that she is marked, she isn't going to change until she tries to change, or at least wishes to change, but she has long since given up trying and wishing.

That would actually make a fair amount of sense, especially in comic logic.

Some day I need to watch some Dragon Ball Z.  I have been told that the finale of season 5 of MLP:FiM was like a DBZ show, and was Freaking Awesome.

If you do, I'd personally recommend stopping after the Cell Saga, in addition to watching Kai as CoreDumpError suggested.

See, I can understand it being used to refer to dual citizenship. but African-Americans didn't just immigrate to America and French-Canadians didn't just move in from France, they've been there for generations.

This is one reason why most African-Americans actually tend to prefer Black nowadays (At least, according to my black friends, the only people I feel comfortable around tip-toe-ingly asking their preference about it and thoughts on it).

One could, but who would read it? There's little point in writing fanfic without involving characters from the source. Write an original story instead.

Which is not to say you shouldn't build a story around OCs, but they should have involvement with the returning cast.

Hmm. I feel that's unnecessarily limiting the potential of fanfic writing in general, honestly. While I don't really read fanfiction, there's no reason it has to always include the main characters. One could use the universe created by someone else for it. (Heck, that's where a lot of the Cthulhu Mythos comes from, and the entire Star Wars expanded universe could be argued to be sanctioned fanfic writing).

    Panel 4

Magus (thinking): How is it those immortals [Helena and Demetrius] don't even remember that I exist and yet they still manage to get in my way?!

Why I think it's important: Helena and Demetrius were opposing Magus before they reset. That could have happened any time between the time between Susan and Nanase's encounter with them and their first appearance  on March 5th of the First Year, four days before Grace's 18th birthday. This could mean they are not necessarily "French." They could have been watching Elliot in Moperville and been there when Magus arrived. And maybe they were watching Nanase too, perhaps to make sure they got together to produce their contribution to the next generation of thermonuclear-grade monster stompers.

I think you missed a link there? (Also, yeah, there's a fair number of theories based around this point. I think @Scotty could probably explain all the theories about it a bit better? Maybe @ijuin too? I can't remember who all is up on the current theorycrafting on the matter).

As DBG has apparently been active for long time they probably has a secret number of vaults filled with secrets, in secret places, their existence and location only known to a secret number of peolpe who is very secretive about the issue. Add to that all the secret aliens and magical beings that DBG has hidden in plain sight and you have a lot of people depending on the DBG to keep their true nature secret.

Just cutting the Red Tape would either mean that all those secrets are lost to the organization, or they risk being exposed. Neither sounds like a good idea. So all that Red Tape, as cumbersome as it might be, does serve a purpose as it's keeping the DBG working slow, and minimizes the risk to society.

I wasn't saying to cut the red tape. DGB can continue having it and all the good it entails. But the main 8 do not need to subject themselves to it, and could work as an external strike force or private eye organization.

Do you even know what a parasite is?

Apparently not.* You're kind of a jerk, though.

    *puts on vet/biologist hat*

A parasite is something which feeds off of or takes resources from another (generally larger) host creature, to the detriment of the host and the benefit of the parasite.  The classic form is endoparasites, such as tapeworms that live in the intestines and feed off of the host's bloodstream, but the term can also encompass stealing resources another creature has gathered or depositing eggs in another bird's nest so that the other bird will expend resources on raising the parasitic young instead of their own.

Mosquitoes are parasites -- they take blood, and the host does not benefit in any known way from the relationship.  They're not predators because they don't kill the host (at least not directly, the diseases they can carry are another matter).  The plants do no harm to the sun, therefore they are not parasites.

*takes off vet/biologist hat, tries to fix bad case of hat-hair*

Thanks for the correction. Would you call a human a parasite on the earth, then, or a parasite to magic in this context?

EDIT: *in my defense, I have been adjusting to a new job that has a 12 hr Dupont shift schedule, and my body hasn't caught up to it. I'd been awake for around 48 hrs at the time of writing that comment. I'd like to think I'd've caught it had I been more on point.

So humans are... parasites, feeding off of a living force of nature... as humans are wont to be, it seems.

No more so than plants are parasites feeding off of the energy of the sun. (Also, one wouldn't call a mosquito a parasite either).

Also, notice that in both Squirrel Prophet and in this installment, Grace has a pad and pencil right next to the smar she uses as an alarm.

    What is a smar? ?_?

And maybe Elliot. Remember how Elliot had a Super Elliot dream just before he woke up as Cheerleadra? And what were those two dreams he had about Susan and the other girls about?

Preeeetty sure those were just a dude having dreams about doin' cool things, sexiness, and sexy ladies in his life. The waking up as Cheerleadra was due to the magic buildup stuff he was dealing with. But eh, I've been wrong more times than right with EGS, so who knows. I still don't think Elliot's had any dream tampering going on.

One thing I'm some what twitchy about EGS fandom is it's habit of assuming that "new" character or monsters don't happen.  There was a beast, it must have been Abraham's noble friend or the beast created by the diamond.  We have seen 2 non related to any known monsters in the Pandora back story, that being the dragon and magical lion bear.  No need to drag all the plot lines together just to make for a smaller cast.  Some times you can have a one shot monster or spear carrier.  This might be the dungeon master in me talking, but not every encounter is with one of the story line's is with the parties arch enemy  or his minions.  Some times a random encounter is just a random encounter.

I very much agree with this. The character relationships are already a gordian knot as is.

I can buy the "Grace's vague memories" theory as plausible, but that would still mean she should have sensed something about Diane's back at the same time she was looking at Rhoda's back, since they were side-by-side and walking away when Grace had her epiphany.

That's only if Diane was marked at the time and wasn't marked later on (One theory is that the colored ones had already been given out, and that the gray ones were to be given out in the future), or if Disco Wizard knew about the mark, or if they decided it would be better to focus on the three more likely for Grace to interact with, or if they decided to focus on only three due to time pressure or memory limits or what have you. Lots of reasons for it to have been Rhoda and not Diane. Grace can't sense marks, she remembers things that give her deja vu about it. (If Grace could sense marks, she would have noticed when Justin's vanished)

On top of that, chances are relatively good now that Diane wasn't marked at the time, or else she'd likely have accidentally used it at some point, which would have sent her scurrying to Nanase. (Or she would have used it during the SpiderVamp attack, be it intentionally or accidentally. And if she'd had it prior, there's a small bit of a chance she would have awakened at that point).

Is this, perchance, the rule in question:

"The rules developed by heralds are based on the experiences of the medieval military craft. They achieved wide recognition because of the primary significance of military activity at the time. Their basis was that every person must be recognizable as quickly as possible under unfavorable conditions of visibility. One of the main rules was therefore that of tincture, whereby metal cannot be used on metal, nor color on color."

Neubecker, Ottfried. Heraldry: Sources, Symbols and Meaning.

Um, I don't really understand what that means.  Metal?  Are they putting gold leaf in their flags?  Stitching metal daggars to the cloth?  Are they saying you can only have a black or white background, rather than, say, blue on red, or green on yellow?

Yeah, the wording on that is not the best. Ambiguous without more information.

This is not from the text, as I am out of the house, so you'll have to bear with me. Silver and gold - represented by white and yellow in imagery - are the "metals" and they must appear at least once in the shield. In classic heraldry, "metals" and "colours" must alternate, though obviously this becomes more difficult to apply when there are more in play than just one "metal" and one "colour". Technically, in California, most road signs have white text (silver, or argent) on a green, brown or blue background so they do comply, in a sense.

I'm not certain that this clarified things for me, but it's approaching doing so? I might just be very tired, and tomorrow will read this and get it clearly, but as it stands...
