  1. The Weather.

I have actually had this, although it was the Heinz canned version. It's good, if you can get past the name. Serve with clotted cream or hard sauce.
  2. Things That Make You Happy

A man after my own heart. I've always been a KDE fan, even when I was using my EeePC.
  3. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

Yeah, but yours are a significant bit stronger than mine, I'll wager.
  4. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

Something like Nexium or Prilosec, right? That was pill #56 a week or so ago. Had to take it along with pill #57/58 (Augmentin 2x daily) to knock out an H. pylori infection in my upper GI tract. If yours doesn't get knocked out (heaven forbid), ask your doctor about H. pylori treatment. That many pills can throw off your gut.
  5. EGS TvTropes pages

Someone once did a news story (probably 60 Minutes) about a guy who paints things that look like $100 bills, but with artistic touches. He then goes into a store, picks an item, and barters for it. He makes it absolutely clear that what he's presenting is a "work of art," and not real money. He offers it in exchange for the item plus whatever the cash back would be, plus a receipt (he feels the receipt is almost as important as the item and the money—he frames them when he gets home). Some cashiers actually take him up on his offer.
  6. The Weather.

I would not pay good money to see this.
  7. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

Geez. Now you've got me wondering. I've never counted how many pills I take. Turns out I take 22 just for the morning. I take five more midday. My nighttime dose? 28. Good Lord, that's 55 pills a day. No wonder I sometimes feel queasy after taking all of them.
  8. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

You have my deepest sympathies, on all counts. I've been there on some, seen my wife deal with others. Take care of yourself as best as you can.
  9. Story Wednesday January 4, 2017

Can you give me five yaks for a Hereford?
  10. NP Friday January 6, 2017

Only for that era. I drive a Honda Ridgeline now, and am damned glad to say it.
  11. NP Friday January 6, 2017

1967 Ford Mustang 289 V-8. First car I remember my parents owning. I think they said they had a Ford Falcon before that. Don't know anything more about it, other than the two cars shared a common ancestry.
  12. Story Monday January 9, 2017

In Soviet Russia, Water Buffalo rides you. Sorry. Almost got carried away there.
  13. Story Wednesday January 4, 2017

I have never tipped a cow. They weigh too much to carry and are too large to fit into my wallet.
  14. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

I'm stuck dealing with a side effect of one of the medicines the doctor gave me for the URI/UGI issues. He put me on 200mg of benzonatate (i.e., Tessalon Perles) 3x daily to keep me from coughing and re-injuring my right lower ribs (which I pulled while doing what is in the small print in my previous post). It's working, but in combination with everything else I'm on, it's knocking me flat out on my arse. Not even a WTFU cup of coffee can stop it. I don't know if this belongs in the Changing Medications thread or the Things That Make You MAD thread. At least I got my Grammy votes in yesterday and my disabled parking placard renewal mailed today. I've still got to pick up a prescription refill, get more Kleenex for the cedar fever drippage, and get my truck inspected. No way I'm getting all three done by the end of this week.
  15. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

I don't see the second part of your plan coming to fruition any time soon.
  16. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

I couldn't sit through the "press conference" today. IMHO, too much wordspray and BS. I turned it off while before the lawyer came in.
  17. Last Post Wins

Booming God-Like Voice: "A WILD DRAGON ROLL SUDDENLY APPEARS!"
  18. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

The swelling in my right ear is still decreasing. Not 100% gone yet, but it's getting there. Haven't had a repeat of my upper GI problem since going on the Augmentin, although I did have to take a Phenergan Sunday night. BTW, the upper GI problem involved an urgent need to barf immediately after eating. It happened three times in two weeks prior to the doctor visit. Could have been an H. pylori infection, which the OTC Nexium and the Augmentin will hopefully get rid of.
  19. What Are You Watching?

Quite a finish to that game. It was no UT-USC / Vince Young quality game, but it was good nonetheless.
  20. Fifteen Years of EGS

I'm pretty certain that's a favorite of many people here. "Exhibit D's" made me laugh pretty hard, though. I stand by my ridiculous claim.
  21. NP Friday January 6, 2017

Geckos are nice. They're cute (most of them) and they eat nasty bugs that would otherwise get in your house. We like our D/FW area geckoes. They do freak Mrs. Prof out, though, because of their tendency to appear out of nowhere and run across the floor when you least expect it. That, plus the cat inevitably chases them when they do that. The cat is rarely successful at even getting close to them, though.
  22. Things that make you go WTF

Our cat thinks most of the living room, computer room, and our bedroom is his bed. He does not, however, sleep in his Booda Dome litter box.
  23. What Are You Watching?

Australian cricket (Big Bash League) — Sydney Sixers v Melbourne Renegades.
  24. Corrupt a Wish

Granted. You now have Stephen Hawking in your possession. Take good care of him. I wish I didn't have to take so many medicines.
