Jeremy seemed to be doing well in his battle. Did Po have some yet to be revealed capability to change the game? How did Hope know? Is she going to confront the clown posse on her own?

Both Po & Mist seemed unable to deal with Jeremy.  At least with less than lethal force.  Killing the pet would turn Edward Veres from their surveillance subject into their executioner. 

Hope just saved the lives of the stooges.

Brute physical force.  Assuming you are willing to take a lot of damage, a normally strong human can kill a house cat. You will be covered in cuts, but strangling a cat is a thing.  Po seems to be like Grace and stronger than your base-line human.  Jeremy is, at least partially, on the physical plane, given the damage he is dealing.

 

That's a lot darker than DS is willing to go, but it's a possible threat.

As my family does have a cat, I may have to try this strategy to grab the kitty.

A. I concur with your post.

B. . . . but it misses the point entirely. On Friday, Sept 12, Jeremy passes through the projected magic attack hands and scatters them. same day, a few panels earlier, Hope thinks to herself, "I don't think magic can directly target him (Jeremy)."

If you are saying powered down Po can damage a cat, that seems likely, but Po does not seem to operate on that level; default is 'whatever magic attack I can manage', And she's not a deep thinker.

But also, Jeremy is not a normal cat.

Po can't use magic to damage Jeremy.

Po CAN use magic to knock over a bookcase (assuming there's one handy), and the bookcase - which won't use magic - can damage Jeremy.

Po has nonmagical hands.  After a few tries to grab Jeremy with her magical hands, it should dawn on her to use her materail ones.  Maybe.  Of course, it may be too late by then, as Jermey will have clawed her eyes out.
