Here. Somehow, I don't think Dwight is trying for pronoun respect when he says "that." "Lord" Tyrant Slayer. Suspicions confirmed.

On a black and white TV back in the sixties. I caught a bit of it later on a color television and was startled to learn that Mr. Greenjeans wore jeans that were green!
-
And LTS's smirk. Was he glad to see Dwight because Dwight could be overawed into covering up the fact that LTS was brainwashed into being an attempted assassin?

Doesn't sound intimidating, does it? On the other hand, the only famous Dwight I can think of kicked Hitler's ass (with a little help from his friends). So there's that. Virginia intrigues me. Did she notice something was wrong with Liam and try to warn Dwight? Dwight seems... mentally inflexible enough to discount such a warning about his Lord.

Liam's smirk worries me. I hope he's just happy that he gets to tell off a guard.
-
Perhaps more importantly, why would the guard be rude? Prejudice against Seyunolu? We speculated about something like that back when Grace was so exited about meeting Griffins. If so, that would be one heck of a callback to an early strip.

Dan is really picking up the pace!

Well, that's sorted.

Speaking of Ashley's friends, we're overdue for a conversation between her and Liz.
-
My thinking is that someone either wants to indiscriminately kill royalty, or is setting up Mr. OG (I'm tired of typing "Owl Griffin") and doesn't care who else gets hurt.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark if Mr. OG is worried that one of the guards is untrustworthy.

Oh, I'd happily settle for a mere setup of the Lord Tedd pins. It would be a bit much to expect to knock them all down this arc. But Magus, the Griffins, and Lord Tedd all exist apart from the regular universe, and it would be disappointing not to find out more about how that works, and whether there's a further connection between them by the end of this story-line. We don't know of any connection between Lord Tedd and the Griffins, for example, save that Lord Tedd seems like the kind of ruler who would inspire revolutionists to action, and a generalized command to kill royalty, as opposed to a specific royal, would be something that revolutionists might issue. I rather hope there is a connection even, perhaps especially, if it takes more than one story to resolve.
-
Not sure how I managed it (probably insufficient coffee) but I started this topic in General Discussion and I don't know how to get rid of it. That said, it seems that all is not well in on the Griffins' side of the world. Revolution, perhaps? Or is the owl-griffin simply a trouble-maker who has gone too far and was being dealt with? Going out on a limb if Edward is royalty, so is Tedd, and so is Lord Tedd (right there in the name, took me long enough). Is that little bit of unresolved plot about to be resolved?
-
Here. Elliot just can't help himself, can he?
-
Backup coming in with wands blazing might not be a good thing, just now.
-
Annnnd there would be the tension ChonosCat is looking for. Seems unlikely that the motive for holding them back would be a good one.
-
Possibly not, although Dan seems to have been foreshadowing both the Magus and Lord Tedd subplots here. Granted, foreshadowing in the EGSverse can happen a decade or so before the actual resolution, but I can dream, can't I? More seriously, it would be slightly jarring if nothing about this arc sheds some light on our little lost dimensional wanderer's plight. Andrea seems to be quite comfortable with the concept of multiverses and surely has something to contribute.
-
Oh, there's plenty of tension fuel left; we don't know the identity or intentions of whoever mind controlled the Griffin, and we're still in the dark about Tara and Andrea's whereabouts. Also, the Magus subplot is still smoldering. As is the question of what happens when Bishop shows up. And how does the Collapse of the Bronze Age enter into this?
-
Don't give him ideas.
-
If we can believe the Emissary of Magic, Elliot's sudden skill boost is the result of casting Evileadra. See panel 3 of this comic.
-
I just realized that Elliot was about to do to the Griffin what Magus did to the urteronc. That would have been messy.
-
Just so, though I suppose if one Immortal could do it, so could another. For that matter, the Magic used to control Dex was an artifact that presumably could be used by anyone sufficiently adept.
-
But he seems to have considerable insight into Elliot's personality. He had to know that Elliot wouldn't, couldn't follow an order to leave Edward and/or Grace to die.
-
That's the question, isn't it? Perhaps this is the "bad trade," Elliot has beaten, badly--maybe to death, someone who was being controlled. He has become the bully. Even if he hasn't killed the Griffin, his sense of self is going to take a serious hit. If Voltaire is behind this, how does that interact with the oath he took "not to attempt to have Elliot killed."?
