Both clauses probably true. However, Susan has never been shown in the mall before, and put together with her recent concerns with yucky walls and yuckier seats in the food court, she probably doesn't go often. And if Adrian regularly sets up his table, Friday evenings seem like a good regular time. Susan had to get this Friday off. But, yes, more likely Susan is telling herself to focus on Diane. Whether or not Susan will be able to get Mr. Raven out of her mind remains to be seen. It's obvious Adrian sees her for first time, as he would not overlook it in past. Therefore, she likely didn't saw Adrian before either. However, she can easily ASSUME she did, despite some logical reason (like Adrian setting the table regularly in Friday) preventing that. Well ... his reactions are less than optimal likely due to lack of training ...

With realistic genealogy, people without fairy descent will go the same way as Neanderthals. How many Neanderthals did you see outside politics recently? Yes. He's not alone: ANY fantasy story with genetic trait is underestimating how it will spread. I'm still waiting for some which would go like "There is prediction that the descendant of Big Bad will cause End of World thousand years later - we must find all descendants and kill them - I found two hundreds so far ... in this city alone". I mean, thousand years could easily mean 2^50 descendants if that wouldn't be much more than population of given world. It seems reliable in Kitsune's case.

When Tedd was told that the watches wouldn't work anywhere else in the world, it seemed a given that they'd be severely limited in who would be able to use them, like high powered awakened magic users. Tedd of course could, he's a well of power after all. Nanase might be able to use them, but it'd be unlikely that anyone else could. I don't think Rhoda would have any problem using them ... Right, Pandora didn't bothered specifying where should Sarah be using the energy which can mean she's really using energy from most of Moperville ... ... hmmm, ok, it seems Ashley will have problem using them.

But that's a rather large group of people. Unless fairies mating with humans is a rather new thing. I would say that NOT mating with humans is a rather new thing. I'm pretty sure Dan didn't read this article. We should wait when he makes a big reveal and then send it to him. Note that even the "global" equivalent is not THAT far back ... and people with magic might have more descendants, and more widely distributed, than average. Unless his next door neighbor are Dunkels. I mean, just because noone was confirmed to be his neighbor doesn't mean we didn't saw him. Note that while Edward Verres is likely from Europe, Kitsunes are from Japan ... which is an island. Rather small one. And they like to claim to be unrelated to Chinese (which is not entirely true of course). Most common ancestor of all Japanese is likely MUCH more recent.

Yeah, Adrian Raven has condition ... namely being an elf ... and he doesn't know Susan knows and Diane doesn't know ... So, Raven senses Susan's power and is more suspicious. Meanwhile, Susan is less suspicious because she blames the charity, which Adrian really does for decades, unless it's centuries. Now ... did Diane noticed something she will speak about on next page?

That depends on if there's enough ambient energy around for them to work. Right. Although presumably it would take some time before the ambient energy gets back at normal values, and Ashley's own magic might get somewhere meanwhile.
-
If the magic reset won't happen, Tedd can just give Ashley some watches. Those are very cheap.
-
Yes and no. It's true that not everyone who can use magic is descended from fairies ; just the ones who's magic is hereditary - like Nanase, Tedd or Sarah. Non-hereditary magic users - like Elliot, Ellen and Justin - may not have any fairy ancestors. However, magic users are very secretive and number of non-hereditary magic users is kept high enough to dilute the picture, so only SOME bloodlines noticed their hereditary magic - like the Noriko ones - and they kept it to themselves. While it looks weird considering how everyone is trying to be quiet about magic now, Dan specifically said that it IS still canon - he mentioned Justin but Nanase was using illusion on Melisa is next page, not in the NP story which is sort of canon. It is also canon that Nanase hasn't always been discreet with magic. Also, yes, some characters changed since their first appearance. Like Susan for example. But her bare midriff is still canon.

I was speaking about male members of that family. Besides Tedd, who is Verres, of course. However, since you mentioned it ... that Japanese fox-spirit is extremely likely to be fairy who started that family. Also her disguise spell, although currently it's more limited than Rhoda's one so sure she still looks like herself. And there is of course Tedd ... I mean as source of transformations, although ... maybe THAT's where he's got his interest in transformations from?
-
Technically, we just didn't saw her learn one yet. It's possible she will learn some later, but yes, it seems she's not wizard. Andrea and Tara would tell you it's logical to apply this to Nanase then. We don't know about any male Kitsunes.
-
She came from a line of powerful mages and wizards. That would perhaps fit with the descendants of an elf. Or elvES. I would assume that magic from different fairies will combine, and the non-specific but royal talent Nanase has seems more like result of multiple elves between ancestors. On the other hand, even if Adrian Raven is only elf alive, there definitely were much more elves in past ; Nanase may lack not only Adrian Raven, but even Pandora's genes and still be this powerful. That's pretty much why Noriko and Edward hooked up, they were so certain that Tedd was guaranteed to be a wizard, that must have been the case throughout the generations of Noriko's family. It does make me wonder if Mr Kitsune is a wizard. If so, then it's probably guaranteed that Akiko has a strong potential to become a magic user (if there's no interference from immortals) but if he's not, then the chance that Akiko would be a wizard is probably 50/50 just like Nanase's was. 1) Magic is unlikely to be carried by single gene - in fact, if it WOULD be single gene it would be boringly predictable. 2) There may be some magic influence on inheritance, raising the chance of any specific gene to be propagated. 3) Even if Mr Kitsune is not magic user himself, he may have magic users (and elves, going sufficiently far back) between ancestors. Together, I would say chance of Akiko having SOME magic talent is way over 50%. There might be 50% chance she's specifically wizard, but note that Nanase doesn't seem to be one. Of course, IF there will be interference from immortals the chance of her becoming magic user will rise; it doesn't seem interference of immortals could LOWER the chance ...

Not really, the emphasis on "you" does fit given that Hanma is looking at Ashley. If the "you" was for Liz, it would be even weirder that Hanma isn't looking at Liz. That's true, but just because the alternative is weirder doesn't mean it's not weird. As I said: I think Dan meant to drop some hint with that "you" but failed to convey the meaning. Current version might be result of several rewrites.
-
True, but that revelation hasn't come forth yet and still, she doesn't know that Tedd's a wandmaker (well no one else knows either as far as we know, though I'd be surprised if he hasn't told Grace in the morning, though maybe he's waiting for a good moment to tell everyone at once?) Given how late he was awake, I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't be awake enough to tell her before she went to the school. I'm not sure how universal it is, but I remember school mornings being rather hectic ... The emphasis on "you" seems weird to me in such case. Would put it on "who", if anything. On the other hand of course the "Don't worry" is addressed to Ashley ... it's just confusing. I think Dan meant to drop some hint with that "you" but failed to convey the meaning.

Swordfighting skill is rare now, but in Holmes day, not so much, especially among Brits and Continentals. Duels were still being fought. And I don't believe the Holmes portrayed by Conan Doyle actually did much swordplay. I think that's more a product of all those Basil Rathbone portrayals of Holmes. Rathbone was one of the best swordsmen in the movies. HIs duels with Errol Flynn in Captain Blood and Tyrone Power in Zorro are maybe the best ever put on film. The following sections of wiki describe exactly what short stories he did what in. He's only mentioned to practise fencing in them, but there IS mentions of hand-to-hand combat (boxing) with his adversaries (in "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist" and "The Adventure of the Naval Treaty"). He has that ability in his human form, but it's much weaker or something along those lines. He had to focus on Ellen to get a good read on her while he was in his human form. Diane is focusing her attention on Susan and Mr. Raven right now, so it's not out of the question, but I think the vibes she's getting are less supernatural and more subconscious reading of body language. I think the Ooh-ee-ooh is spell, not just focusing. Also, I DEFINITELY agree that what Diane is getting is reading of body language. I would be less surprised if she would be MARKED during or after the fight. I mean, the whole point of the fight is to attract attention of Helena and Demetrius, who might already have enough power for that and it's exactly what they are known to do. ... or, yes, the fight will attract attention of Pandora. To clarify: I think Pandora is NOT present and didn't met Diane since her chat with Jerry, which might be only reason she didn't marked her. ... or that. She already knows he knows how to fight, so I'd say that's a really big "maybe". She likely doesn't know details so she may not know how well is he ready to fight specifically aberrations. IMHO descendants. Or rather some synonym which would fit more ... offspring, brood, progeny ... or possibly children in MEANING of descendant, I think I saw such usage somewhere, might be archaic but so is Pandora. (Or scion. Never heard that word before but the meaning would fit.)

Hanma, this is NOT a way to make her stop worrying ... The question is, was Hanma refering to Liz, or Elliot in the last panel? If it's Elliot, my guess would be that they go mad with power together, and go on a spree of transforming jerks into they types of people they're being jerks to everywhere. She's only met Tedd in passing so far, she doesn't really know him yet. Unless Tedd was the one she was internet dating with. Although, frankly, it's almost as if Hanma was saying "given who LIZ know" ... but we don't know about Liz knowing anyone Ashley don't, do we? Unless she is also seer, Tedd will win by wide margin. ... wait, you didn't mean transformation battle?
-
Raven only has such ability in elf form, so probably not.
-
I've already said Adrian Raven could have been Sherlock Holmes. Maybe it runs in the family? Sigh ... Sherlock Holmes was expert singlestick player, boxer and swordsman. While Mr. Raven already shown to be experienced swordman, he is quite limited in how can he utilize such abilities ; Holmes didn't shown such restrains as far as I remember.

Will he try oooo-eee-oooo like on Grace and Ellen? I'm sure it would tell him Susan is awakened immediately, although that may not be the most important information now. And even if Susan won't realize what it may be, detective Diane might get suspicious ...

Hmmm ... ok, that would make sense. Especially considering she led the feminist club. Sure, most girls didn't took it seriously, but talking about stuff like this is quite likely topic of the meeting ... wait. Catalina was there. Of course Catalina certainly mentioned that. And Susan isn't a feminist now? Susan has softened her attitude toward men in some respects, but she won't tolerate any bad behavior of men toward women. She's not militant feminist now. Susan used to be a straw feminist -- that is to say, a contrived example full of bad attitudes to show how 'bad' feminists are to those on the outside looking in. Later on, as Dan's knowledge grew and his writing improved, she gradually outgrew the straw feminist phase and turned into someone with a far more balanced attitude. Dan is an honest enough writer that he had the transformation be gradual and occurring through character development rather than some sort of writer's asspull. I am not saying this to in any way condemn or judge Dan. In fact, I've been through a similar learning experience myself. My initial ideas of feminism were unfortunately very much shaped by mainstream media sources that either had only the most superficial understanding of what it was about, no understanding whatsoever except prejudices or even actively seeking to discredit and misinform. Suffice it to say that when I was in my teens, my idea of what a feminist was closely resembled what Dan initially had Susan be. Not only that, with Susan's backstory her being straw feminist until she stopped and though about it make so much sense Dan could almost pretend it was deliberate.

Aaaand Dan hanged pretty lampshade on that "Miss Diane is weird". And he still didn't mentioned WHAT is her surname. Also Diane addressed that thinking about lions in this situation is weird. Obviously, tigers would be much more appropriate And still no backgrounds. Yes ... it seems Mr. Raven is doing something else than just going to buy something ... No, it will end with remains of horde of aberration mercenaries all over the floor. Yes it's obvious there will be fight. Maybe Susan will offer sword to Mr. Raven as well, just to find out he doesn't need one? I would. She's far from awakening and she likely didn't had any when she met the griffins ... and Pandora was quite busy ... and Jerry might not have enough power yet ... on the other hand, how long can take marking someone? Let's say I will be surprised just a little.

I agree. The only thing that saved that particular set of strips for me was that it turned out to be someone's bad-fic. Note that the bad-fic described was different that the one shown, although both were the mind-control aspect. Yes ... it definitely shouldn't be played for laughs. Well, maybe in cartoon or crazy comedy where EVERYTHING is played for laughs - including mortal injuries - but even that may end up badly. It could be villain doing it. It could be hero who then realized it wasn't good idea. It could be used ON villain with comment that it's better than killing him or that it's their only chance to defeat him. It could be used as cure for something even worse (possibly previous mind control). But in all cases it should be taken seriously. Removing or altering memories is similar, if it's not just few last days ; it can easily be almost as bad as killing that person. Obviously, can still happen, but should be taken seriously. It's a bit telling of Immortals as a whole that pre-Reset Jerry and not-crazy Pandora are so far the only good ones of their species we saw. Given the limited number of immortals we saw, it's possible that most immortals are good roughly between ages 150 and 200. But bellow that, they didn't matured enough to have usable moral compass, over that, they are going crazy. And Helena and Demetrius are either exception or had very good excuse for what they did to Nanase and Susan. Or maybe there were not as old as they looked. On the other hand, it's possible Jerry is complete exception and even Pandora can only behave "good" if she keeps in mind what would Blaike do. ... case in point for the other hand.

I think Dan was just being sarcastic (suspiciously specific denial), meaning there is an overlap. On the other hand, I get the impression from his NP and story vs. the pin-ups that he writes "clean", but leaves the more "adult" stuff be as fantasies. Obviously. I was joking. It's likely there is 100% overlap, meaning all Ashley's fantasies were his before.

No, but he is the only cat that's bonded with her.... Exactly. Therefore, the reason to research big cats must be elsewhere. I think that would require little more that "any contact" with Adrian. So far, we assumed Jeremy and Max are result of some experiment, possibly with Uryuom eggs, and Adrian and Edward obtained them as a "booty" after some action they were on together. What if they are instead result of Pandora transforming ordinary cat in hereditary manner and Jeremy is Adrian's gift to Edward? THAT might make Jeremy seek Adrian's descendants. In any case, we totally need to see Jeremy's reaction to Diane. It's possible he liked Susan just because she doesn't like cats (or, well, anything touching her lap). While possible, it was explained that Andrea chose the bell tower as base because it was something she could easily find again even with her sense of direction.

"People say that" ... yeah, it was already established that using immortals as moral compass is not good idea. I suppose next page she will explain some of stuff Susan said which should make the transformation ok (like, consent). Which we totally need to have explained to Ashley in canon so she can finally stop having this block preventing her from being marked. Exactly. The main problem with this "loving and cheerful" bit is that if you mess with someone's head, you invalidate any consent they might give later. While the term originally used to mean "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy", I think Liz means they were homosexual. Which may not be considered mind-control in EGS, based on how the change is described when TF gun does it. If there is no overlap, does it means Dan's fantasies are WORSE?

Jeremy? Doesn't look that big to me But why at same place as Susan and Diane? ... unless the clog is there. True. And that wasn't even the strangest case. Adrian would not need cocaine. But yes, maybe Voltaire liked the mall ...
