  1. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=639 Bunny Susan seems like an appropriate side effect of Jerry's serenity spell. Makes sense that Ellen can't affect Grace's clothing with her current spells, but I bet Rhoda could, and Ellen could eventually get spells that let her target clothes or specific items, as it is, she's relying on her beams affecting the whole person.
  2. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=636 ... oh. Right. Shorter and taller Wait. Can Ellen really make person STRONGER, or just BEEFIER (that is, looking stronger but without greater strength)?
  3. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=633 I love how Rhoda's bragging that all of this is not new to her. Also, what is more cooler that a magic flashlight?
  4. I'm starting this thread for anyone who wants to share thoughts about Susan and people or things connected to Susan. Whether or not "real" ghosts are going to be allowed in the Moperverse isn't settled. To quote Charlotte, "If ghosts are real, ghosts are real." But Susan has certainly been haunted by her past, and perhaps an actual ghost. The the only street view we have of Chateau de Pompoms is an early work of Dan's. Possibly magic has revised the architecture in the better part of a year of story time that has passed since. Still, it's probably still big. I may be living in the po' side o' Santa Clara County now, but I've seen plenty of Palo Alto and Los Altos, two of the richest communities in the world, and I have yet to see a three-story mansion. So who lives in that enormous mansion? Apparently just Susan and her mother. No maids, no butler, no gardener, no chauffeur, no cook. The intercom system plays Mexican radio, but maybe that's for the Mexican ghosts. It's quite likely Dan just didn't want to show any staff. They could be asleep, gone home, gone out. Mrs. Pompoms could just use services as needed. Still, Susan never mentions housework or chores. There are only two occasions where Susan's mother appears. In the very first panel we see her in, she's in her bathrobe and holding a pretty large wineglass. It's dark or getting dark outside but it's winter and a movie night is planned, so it shouldn't be that late. She couldn't put down that glass before coming to meet Susan and her guests? Next we see Susan's mom in Hammerchlorians, later in the narrative but in two flashback panels from Susan's first year at Moperville North. In the first Susan's mom looks sober as she slices carrots, and in the second she's tearing Principal Verrucht a new one. These scenes happened before Susan went to France, got her magic mark, and killed her first vampire. I've noted that wineglass long enough ago that I don't have the faintest idea when. But it wasn't until I started this post that I considered this possibility: Susan's mom is drinking now because she knows what happened in France. Now, if this is true, why hasn't it been mentioned? Why did Susan complain in Playing With Dolls that she would need multiple trips to sneak four dolls from the car into her house? A possible answer: Susan doesn't know her mother knows. And possibly she doesn't want to know. The most likely source for Susan's mother to learn the secret? Mrs. Kitsune, of course. It is very difficult for me to accept that Noriko's sister, from the same long magically-endowed bloodline, wouldn't know pretty much everything that's going on with her eldest daughter. Sharing her concerns with the mother of another magically talented young woman and a prime potential recruit for the covert magical ops that tore apart Noriko's marriage sounds plausible to me.
  5. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2339 Uh oh. So uh, who does that shadowy hand belong to? Pandora's possibly still talking to Heka in Egypt, or maybe not, if travel instant for such a distance? That leaves either Voltaire having found out about Jerry and possibly worried that his meddling with Susan might interfere with Voltaire's plans, Not sure why Helena and Demetrius would grab him, unless they just wanted to be overly dramatic but really they just want to talk. Fingernails though could be a hint. Oh, and for the record, Jerry 2.0 has so far crashed ONE party.
  6. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2337 Well I figured Susan would ask, didn't expect Justin to still not believe that Diane looked like Susan, definitely wasn't expecting Justin to have his own theory about their possible relation. Friday should be interesting. Also, from Monday's thread: Today's page answers both my questions, that Susan would ask, and that Justin isn't aware of Diane's change of attitude, though her change essentially began during the Christmas break and we can assume she might have toned things down in school once it started up again, but we didn't see much from MSHS to suggest that Diane interacted with Justin and he just missed her on the Friday morning, though I'm not sure if hearing that discussion would have helped her case any, I don't see Justin having reacted well to knowing that Diane was thinking about seducing Elliot. Although it might have helped push him to believing that Diane and Susan were alike, both being attracted to Elliot might be convincing enough.

  8. Tumbler post If the text with the post is any thing even close to canon, we now have the Secondary OT3 with some changes, in that Susan may be doing more than watching Also, I like this version of "sexy" Susan better than her leveled up video guard. It's the hair.
  9. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2336 presumably, after cache expires. It is already on http://www.egscomics.com/ Sooo ... Susan got "summon multiple things at once" upgrade for her spell. Did she also get some new spell? And/or spell upgrades? Is the "full immersion into fairy" upgrade she got or was it always there?

  11. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=600 And it looks like the maid outfit lives, much to the disappointment to all who wanted to see GR4-C3 in a catsuit.
  12. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=598 I like the idea that it can be bug. I mean, while everyone have different opinion, there are outfits which would be hard to explain as "that persons like them". But there is no such limit in case of androids: their emotional programming might be very crude and full of bugs, so basically ANYTHING might be explained as something the android likes. ... (Note: it's true that cosplayers can like wearing all sort of crazy stuff, but they are just copying other character which may lack sane reason to wear that.)
  13. https://www.patreon.com/posts/single-level-2-8658002 Now this is a pinup. And of course, because she works for Tensaided, there's RPG style level up bonuses.
  14. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=595 Susan and Charlotte certainly look human to me, so Grace must be the android after all. Sounds like the plot for the game Nier: Automata, where Earth has been overrun by alien machines and humans had fled to the moon and are trying to fight back using android warriors. Will know for sure when we see Grace if she has a little robot companion and a big arse sword or something.
  15. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=596 And yep, guessed the game, though it wasn't difficult considering Dan had been tweeting about the game prior to announcing his plans for the NP.

  17. Hey, I haven't written one of these in a while.

Recalling my post that had an interrobang in it, and wondering about Ctrl+C/V and how it transfers font.

I have a custom font for my conlang, and I'm just gonna do a test or two...

    eve kibe bali riul

    It lives!

FYI, the literal font-removal is "eve kibe bali riul"

  20. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2285 Susan doesn't necessarily resent Diane for (possibly) being the product of her father's cheating, but I can see it making things awkward. Nice to know Ellen remembers what Elliot had said a few weeks earlier. That helps put things into better perspective.
  21. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2279 Alright, so this particular glow is not the same as the glow we saw when Susan summoned the sword during the goo fight. Also Susan is pretty darned sure that she would have known by now if she had a twin sister, half sister on the other hand, wouldn't be as easy if the mother of Diane never went after Mr Pompoms, heck Mr Pompoms might not even know he got her pregnant if it was just a one night stand. There is also Dan's tweets just prior to the comic's release: So is that referring to what Edward said about Diane, or what Susan said, or is Jerry wrong about Diane and her and Susan aren't related at all?
  22. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2278 Mind you they haven't directly said that Diane very well could be Susan's half sister, but Susan seems to be taking the knowledge of Diane's existence well. Her reaction to there having been 7 vampires is rather understandable too.
  23. https://www.patreon.com/posts/single-rental-7170462 It's not over the top, unless you count the fact that this is set in the video store and not the beach or pool. It's not really subdued either by having a goofy reaction, unless you count the reuse of the convention pinup in the background. Susan herself looks sexy and confident, whether or not it's actually Susan daydreaming about this as Dan commented is irrelevant. I like it.
  24. So we think Susan and Diane have different mothers but the same father. Susan was born 10 minutes after new years midnight and Diane was born 10 minutes before new year midnight. Conclusion 1) If we subtract 9 months from that date we see that at least one of them is the result of an elaborate April Fools prank that went a bit far Conclusion 2) Susan's dad has a thing for girls who keep track of "chronological trivia" Conclusion 3) Dude's got stamina ...
  25. I'm assuming, given the title and their prominent (though not foremost) positions on the cover page of Sister III, The Shive will cast some light upon the questions I'm about to bring up. Why Are There So Many Differences Between Susan and Diane? The short answer: Different upbringings. Diane was raised with an older sibling to compete with; Susan wasn't. Susan has become embarrassed by how much her mother spoiled her. Diane might have been spoiled to some extent, but her desire to get men to spend money on her doesn't bespeak being raised in a mansion. However, we have no clue about the Diane's adoptive parents other than they don't seem to be as well off as Susan's mom. Are they a mixed couple? Are they together? That last one is really relevant. Susan and Diane have different approaches to handling men, but the underlying attitude is fear of getting hurt. Susan tries to avoid men; Diane tries to control them. Now neither of these suggests a strong, reliable father figure. Diane just wouldn't have this attitude if she was satisfied with the father figure she grew up with. Well, I'm interested in this, but I'll move on to something I think more of you might be interested in. Who Are Susan and Diane's Biological Parents? The Shive has put in a few clues, or maybe red herrings, that might lead to answers. Sometime. Maybe. First, in a dream and then a flashback, Susan remembers the woman she found with her father. In the flashback, The Shive actually titles the strip The Woman With Susan's Face. Susan tries to cut off her hair and then her mom dyes it so she won't look like that horrid blond woman. This kind of implies that Susan realized the woman was her birth mother. She hasn't said a thing about it in any strip since, but that is quite consistent in her nature. As of now (7-22-2016 in realworld time), we still don't know if Susan knows or even suspects she was adopted. I hope we don't get adoptichlorians. Susan's dad? Well, her adoptive dad's face is never shown—it's actually blacked out. Now if adoptive daddy was seeing birth mommy, it's not really a stretch to think that adoptive daddy is also biological daddy. Except... Diane wasn't introduced yet. If Susan's dad arranged the adoption of one of his own kids, why not both? The Raven Factor In Death Sentence, Grace notices that the disguise spell Adrian Raven uses to hide her three-tailed form makes her look exactly like Susan. Although Raven tells her half-immortals can't have children, he doesn't say that he doesn't have children. The Shive is very cute about maybe denying that this is more than an amusing coincidence in His commentary. What's your call? Remember, by this time we know that Raven can morph to change his appearance. It would have been a necessity to have maintained the same identity as a (somewhat) normal human for as long as he's been teaching at Moperville South. Also, why exactly does Raven choose to let Diane off when he finds her AWOL from her class in Sister II? He knows Diane isn't the ditzy valley-girl she's channeling; he tells Ellen and Grace right after Diane is gone—but doesn't call out Diane on her ploy to her face. Not proof he has special feelings for Diane, but it would fit very well if he does. Also, in the flashback strip with Noriko and baby Tedd, Raven's face is blacked out just about the same way as Susan's dad was. This time it wasn't in Susan's mind, so the connection is spider-silk-thin. Still... Third Sister? I think The Shive likes ambiguous titles and titles that have multiple meanings. Do Susan and Diane have a third sister? I don't think I would need Alien Space Bats to posit that the third sister is the mysterious sibling of Tedd, whether or not she's Susan and Diane's sibling, and whether or not Adrian Raven is her father. What, surely I'm not the only one that thought that perhaps that's the reason Tedd's parents split up and Tedd's dad hates Adrian Raven? And why Noriko can't face her son? Come on, how many of you out there aren't panting to finally get Full Frontal Noriko? Another candidate for a third sister would be Ellen's Second Life doppelganger, possibly along with Kaoli. They're supposed to meet eventually; maybe eventually is coming up soon. Vladia is Grace's sister, and if she's Gregs New Girlfriend, it gives an excuse to get Greg involved more. Carol Brown is Sarah's sister, and given not one but two Immortal schemers behind the scenes (that we know of) plus Sirleck, it seems pretty likely that Carol will finally get to the scene of the latest weirdness in time to (choose one or more): Find out little sister Sarah knows what's going on Find out little sister Sarah has magic Find out vampires are real in the worst possible way. Get The Government much too interested. Hey, you didn't think Grace's siblings were the only people confined “for their own protection,” did you? So, anyone want to add their thoughts?
