  1. Story Monday November 28, 2016

True ; however, there would still be knowledge-based loopholes on it. For start, "destroy this ship ... hey, I didn't knew Elliot's on board". Better than VCR Box.
  2. Story Monday November 28, 2016

True, it does leave it to interpretation though, and we know there have been many battles over interpretation throughout history. Yes. It likely leads the chart, above gold, jewels and oil, to name few other from the top ten of what battles are fought over. Hmmm ... maybe space to live in might be tied. So ... I would assume Dan wouldn't include any magic-aware Holy Order in comics, because that would mean more things he would need to be careful around.
  3. Story Monday November 28, 2016

There's still the belief that magic and the divine are linked. The carefulness can IMHO be best seen here, where Nanase is careful. But even in the page you linked, note how in commentary Dan explicitly mentions that this comics will not answer the question if the guardian form is divine. Pandora actively tries to not know everything to get at least little chance to be surprised. Still, yes, I'm surprised it surprised her.
  4. Story Monday November 28, 2016

Regardless of whether Susan and Diane are somehow related, Jerry protecting Diane doesn't break his vow, unless that would somehow harm Susan (which seems unlikely; or, if this is the case, Jerry probably doesn't know about it). If they're unrelated, it doesn't matter (as far as his vow is concerned) whether he protects Diane; if they are related, then protecting Diane would be necessary, and not protecting her would break the vow. Being wrong in the other direction could result in breaking the vow; protecting Diane is safe either way. Yes, in this case it can be resolved safely. But it's still dangerously close. What would happen if he didn't know Diane is sister and failed to protect her? Or what if there would be different sister and he would protect Diane and harm the real sister that way? That would be plausible but would present even MORE danger to Elliot. I would assume that while knowledge and intent is important, you can't fool it easily by being lazy in gathering information. Because it's about what he believes and not about what he can justify. Also, given how he reacted to memory of Old Jerry, I would suspect he would prefer to be somewhere else and certainly made sure he's not doing it needlessly. (But yes, "Jerry CANT be wrong" might've been too much.)
  5. Story Monday November 28, 2016

Technically, Dan already has. And you may notice how extremely careful he was around it.
  6. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

Yes, we are star dust ... Well, there was that moment where probably CP-symmetry violation caused there was not enough antimatter to annihilate all matter ...
  7. Story Monday November 28, 2016

Not only is this crazy, also do you really think Dan would consider risking alienating people with strong opinion on Christianity with involving Holy Order in world with proved supernatural? The indirect implication that Jesus might've been immortal is enough ...
  8. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

By some definitions, cows would qualify. Beasts that are used as machines to turn grass and grain into milk and steaks. How is cow vegetation? Would you rather eat servants? Or peers?
  9. Story Monday November 28, 2016

My grandfather was born out of wedlock, his mother was so ashamed of it that she had her sister who was married raise him and she acted as his aunt, it wasn't until years after grandpa had married and had children that the truth came out. Within the past 15 years or so grandpa got curious about his family heritage and him and dad have been trying to fill out as much of the family tree as possible, and was able to find out that his biological father had gone on to have a couple more sons, one of which was nearly 20 years younger than grandpa. Earlier this year he got a chance to meet this half brother and despite their age difference you could definitely tell they were related, the half brother had more bulk than grandpa ever did but looking at his face, it was exactly how grandpa looked 20 years ago. Another example is my grandmother, my aunt that's her youngest daughter, and my aunt's daughter, also have very striking similarities that it's almost like going back in time looking at them, I've seen various pictures of grandma at different ages and there were some where I honestly thought it was a picture of my aunt or cousin done up in black&while or sepia to look like an old picture. Sure coincidences like that happens in real life. They are, however, MUCH less likely to happen in fiction, due to Chekhov's gun. I find it unlikely that an immortal is wrong about a statement of fact. As for the rest, that's what I mean by pulling a rabbit from a hat. I really doubt that they are merely half-sisters who look alike. Them being alternate universe counterparts or something seems actually MORE likely than them being just half-sisters, because it will be explanation for all those coincidences. And yes: immortal being wrong about a statement of fact related to a vow? That's sounds DANGEROUSLY close to Voltaire being able to kill Elliot after vowing not to. If the vows are good for something and as big deal as they are presented to be, then Jerry CANT be wrong. Meanwhile, Susan and Edward being wrong? Can totally happen.

Not sure how you considered my idea weird. I don't consider your idea weird. I consider Lucy's choice of words weird in case your idea is true. ... three? And you can play for dark elves in the third? How did I missed that? Did I spend so long on StarCraft? Hmmm ... too late. I don't have time to play "big" games (more than half hour in one go) anymore. Would need to go wait in queue after Portal. And comics. "You want to see this?" or ... but I just don't see her saying "I can't believe we're seeing this." It just doesn't match. ... unless it was so shocking she stopped making sense
  11. Story Monday November 28, 2016

Led? No. After all, they are not sure about that being Jerry. But they SHOULD mention it on today's page. Well ... maybe Wednesday. If they forgot about it even on Wednesday THEN it will be annoying (I suspect Dan needs to exchange some informations which will later prove important when it's revealed they ARE twins.)
  12. NP Monday November 28, 2016

It's like "We've never done something like this together, yet here we are, and it was your idea." hard to believe Let's see some less weird alternatives for comparison: "I can't believe we're seeing this together." "I can't believe you took us to / chosen this movie." Or maybe even "I can't believe we're seeing this.", with the previous sense implied.
  13. NP Monday November 28, 2016

I took that as Lucy not objecting to seeing the movie, just shocked and suspicious that Diane was eager to see the movie. The first panel would be weird phrasing then, IMHO. Like, was there not even the possibility others would go to the movie to support her?
  14. NP Monday November 28, 2016

Yeah ... I overdid the speculation a little. Note that it is possible Lucy wasn't there either. She might limit herself to online games to keep non-nerd image for same reasons as Diane, but was still wearing costume-inspired clothing based on the idea that non-nerds wouldn't get the reference. Wait. Did she threatened anyone else? Something like Diane? While I did say that Diane has been trying to maintain the image that she's not a nerd or geek, it's pretty clear that image has been crumbling for a while now and is probably almost gone now. Although if we're to take this as canon, then maybe not quite crumbled yet. She might get closer to admitting it herself and her new friends, but not moving a inch regarding revealing her geek side to her old friends or general public. And yes ... it's weird that it's Lucy in that strip who complains about seeing fantasy movie if she likes fantasy. Unless, as I mentioned, she's trying to hide that side of her from Diane. Not successfully, likely, considering the dragon ...
  15. Story Monday November 28, 2016

I have an ancestor who didn't returned from first world war ... which is only thing we know about him. I suppose this might make searching difficult ... (Note: It's not father. I'm not THAT old.) Storming out? She can now use hammers on everyone, right? I already mentioned that while we DO know he cheated multiple times, we DON'T know if he cheated with multiple women. But if he did, I hope someone would protect those other children before they awaken ... or be eaten. Possible ... but more importantly: Something IS going to happen if Diane is not trained. Seriously, Susan is the best person to help Diane deal with the fact she's magnet for aberrations and needs to learn how to fight them. Also, she can train her, probably. Makes me wonder if Voltaire is hoping for this now. Think about it, while we don't know if Tedd's "rarity" has an awakened state, the fact the he's been marked suggests that, if there is an awakened state, Tedd hasn't done so yet. As of Voltaire's most recent appearance in the comic, it is highly probable that Voltaire is attempting to trigger an major angst induced awakening in Tedd. For what reason is still not clear but dropping the bomb about his mother to him would very likely push him over the edge at this point. Hmmmm ... you mean the Complicated Mess plan involved flooding Moperville with vampires, forcing Nanase to tell Susan and Diane about themselves, which ends up well enough to make Nanase think it's safe to tell Tedd about his mother, which will cause his awakening? .... Complicated Mess indeed. Tedd's awakening in this manner may still be used for that, if his awakened powers allows him to hunt down Immortals. On the other hand, even if Tedd's power doesn't have equivalent of awakening, it certainly have angst mode.
  16. NP Monday November 28, 2016

Soooo ... keep improving until it breaks? Unless some discounts were just announced. I see problems coming from the fact that regular cast would be wearing different fashion than background characters. Something like Diane? I still think she's playing MMORPG (even if the slain dragon was part of her avatar and not background from her being interrupted inside the MMORPG as I originally though, it could be screenshot from game) and only cosplaying in "reality". Especially considering Xena herself is more fitting for cosplaying than LARP considering her "direct-blade-into-middle-of-chest" armor. Hmmm ... maybe she also plays Xena RPG? Was Diane so close to meeting Susan at that scene? I'm not sure there was no teeth flying from that Diane punch.
  17. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

(Trying to imagine slave beast vegetation machine. Noticing the "or". Still, I think one of digimons might've qualified ...) Well they have entire team whose whole job is to fill wikis with gibberish. So I'm sure they have someone who is spreading rumors on forums with topics like this as well, and it make sense to also monitor it for something which is NOT rumor, including unknown magic users who were not yet informed that they need to keep magic secret or else. It's true it's unlikely to have person dedicated just to that one forum, on the other hand, they likely considered it more important because it is informing about moperville where weird stuff happens even not counting what known active magic users like Nanase, Ellen and Elliot are doing.
  18. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

And how well she described it. Yup. The name which is so secret not even Dan knows it Obviously, even that Mwuh-hahaha!!! >:D was within the forum courtesy rules. Weird, but not reason to be banned. If they recognize him as international fugitive, and very dangerous one, they would likely take action. Especially considering it WAS possible to take action which would NOT be public, unlike the dragon case.
  19. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

Background check on Susan clearly DID involved details of her parents divorce. Edward has also briefly met Diane on New Years, and I think her interaction with Nanase might have given him enough reason to attempt a background check on her, note he was quick to say how difficult it is to find adoption records? Was that just from common knowledge of doing background check with other adopted people, or did he try to look up Diane's history. Not saying he suspected her of being Susan's sister as well, but just for the usual reasons of protecting family and seeing if he can trust their friends. I'm not sure how FAST those background checks are, but yes, it would make sense to start it after New Years. Especially if there was anything off-panel which made him think it's likely Nanase and Ellen will take her on another "date" as well. He would certainly also checked Charlotte, if not for the fact that with her forum, she likely already has file in DGB. ... hey, do you think the person who was tasked with checking Charlotte's forum will get demotion for not noticing not-Tengu? Or would the official stance be that not-Tengu was not giving enough reason for suspicion and they would just make fun from him in office? Why? Personally, I think the time for asking these questions would be when the child starts meeting higher number of other sisters, which can happen as late as in school. Hmmm ... ok, maybe in kindergarden, but not everyone is going to kindergarden. Uh ... yes? I think I already saw something like that in forum. Or was it you? Makes sense. Except I would assume Mrs. Pompoms would go for the version of surrogacy where the child would be genetically hers ... but maybe something went wrong? I mean, this would be getting very complicated, but perhaps Mrs. Pompoms THOUGH it's surrogacy but Mr. Pompoms had another idea? Or, maybe the surrogate mother didn't told them.
  20. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

Hair color is less reliable than blood type, yes. But it would be interesting twist. Or a sword. That might help. Yes, the hospital records are much less reliable than Mr. Verres ... on the other hand, one would expect DGB background check being really thorough ... so, maybe actual magic was involved? Why do you think she made sure Diane will get on the trip NOW instead of after she will know more french? Without parent like her (or being forced to learn french sooner like Nanase was), Diane would have no chance to get on the trip so soon. Background check on Susan clearly DID involved details of her parents divorce. He would need to have higher clearance than Mr. Verres to keep Diane hidden from him. Actually, Nanase was surprised UNTIL Diane told the age. Wait. It was a big deal ... what if it wasn't Diane finding out herself, but RHEA at that time started asking which lead to Diane finding out as well?
  21. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

If you mean between panels 8 and 9, she's just bending forward. If you mean between panels 6 and 8, then yes totally. Well, sure, for start everyone should be hiding how easy was for them to get magic. But that shouldn't be necessary to hide from their children. PS: To complete the list, another parent hiding something from her child ... but this time she at least admitted she's hiding something. PS2: It's interesting that Rhoda has two spells for resizing but Dex can summon fairy and taurcanis draco with same spell.
  22. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

I think upgrade spells may be like "semi-spells". we don't have any real information about what the criteria are for getting new spells, how much effort must be put into learning a spell. Upgrades may take less effort than a full spell and show up like errata to the old spell "this old spell now has this added feature". On the other hand, many of Nanase's fairy upgrade spells seem like totally separate spells that can only be used while inhabiting the fairy doll. The distinction may be semantic. In D&D and other roleplaying games, and even more so in computer games, the distinction must be extremely clear to make it easy to play. In EGS, it's likely there are no hard numbers anywhere. Even Pandora's categories like "D" and "S" are likely just approximates. Apparently, it's true even for number of spells: if the spellbook doesn't have something like separate heading of given size for every spell so you can count the headings, how would you know how many spells you have? With the spellbooks being intentionally confusing, it's possible two people reading the same spellbook will count different number of spell. But, yes, I based the "this is new spell" comment based on how Pandora was so sure what Rhoda was showing were new spells. It's possible this is more like upgrade of existing spell, and I don't mean like Nanase's subspells, but like how can she now create fairies with different outfits. No, it certainly wouldn't be first time.
  23. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

Also, after mentioning they are born twenty minutes apart, everyone would think about twin first. I suppose they will mention the possibility of half-sister on Monday strip.
  24. Story, Friday November 25, 2016

I think it used to glow just while summoned, now it glows all the time. Also, new spell! Although we are more interested in the fairy one (meaning she got at least TWO new spells). The description is also funny ... "the aura does ... something" ... That would be in conflict with the theory it's the same woman Susan saw him with, however. I would say that even young immortals are unlikely to be wrong in something so important for them. I suppose even Susan would admit what her said would be related to full sister, not necessary half sister. Technically, he only said hospital records claims there is no twin. People who are never proved wrong are often careful of what they claim. I suppose he will start background check on Diane on Monday, if he didn't already. Would it show something interesting? Also, if Susan's talent is hereditary, he should be able to find which side it's from.
  25. NP Friday November 25, 2016

While possible, her just cosplaying is more likely. If it would be just as easy to shed afterwards ...
