There is BIG overlap between general masquerade and not going mainstream. Sure government wants THEM to have combat spells. Others, on the other hand? I'm sure government DON'T want most magic users having combat spells. Doesn't want to be MOSTLY used in combat. Of course that vampire hunters, ASMA Dojo students and people who likes being monsters have spells usable in combat. Still, compare their spells with what minmaxing RPG player will get. This is actually tricky: on one hand, we see how normal can a life of magic users be, not speaking about mundane people. On other hand, existence of magic inevitably have big influence on how the world looks and works. The masquerade can only explain SOME things. Wars tend to be hard to camouflage. Of course, you can always say that Dan goofed up and will need some deux ex machina to fix it when the issue became apparent. Government officials are less likely to adapt to new stuff than hundred years old immortals ... no surprise here. He was doing exposition. It's possible ALL spellbooks are custom, but he said it explicitly to stress it out. Still, there are probably different levels of customizations, with different price and time cost. Like ... my dissertation was technically custom book: it has title I selected, my name and obviously content I wrote. Yet I'm sure I had much less options to customize it than fantasy authors, starting with need to keep standard size. On the other hand, the company who turned it into book were able to do it in one hour, allowing me to do last modification on the day I needed to submit it.

... well, if she will be sweating, it might be dangerous ... Agree. I still didn't. WHERE it is?
-
... you also don't exactly have a regular updates three times per week. (Although I must admit I didn't noticed the comics started again ... they must've changed RSS URL at the same time ... also, they didn't used to be wordpress, did they?).

Well, at least it's a really good book series. She should wait to read them until The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring are released though. Well ... it's good series, but I'm not sure if person who don't realize she's buying book from middle of cycle is ready for the other ... surprises contained in the books.

.... hmmm ... by the way, why there is no "inverse ban" option on forum (or at least, on most forums), meaning a way to make specific person not see your posts?
-
Tedd did say Nanase could have a watch with ANY options she wanted, it's probably likely she already picked out a male form. Oh, right, optionS. So, she might already be on way of getting it if she just don't forget.

Assuming that mundanes can't read a spellbook, what DOES it look like to them? Not just the cover, but the contents. You don't want them borrowing it (because the person it belongs to needs it, and it suddenly growing a few pages just as a mundane is about to finish it would be noticed). You don't want them wondering why the owner has a book full of obvious nonsense - or something that doesn't even look like script. The title needs to discourage them... (Now I'm trying to think of a story where the title "A perfectly ordinary book (not a spellbook)" makes sense.) The best way to discourage someone from reading something is usually to make him thinks he will not understand it because he's missing the beginning and even if he catches he won't find the finale in this book either. So, whatever the title would be, the important part will be the "Part 4" or possibly even more explicitly, "part 4 of 7". I'm surprised none of the spellbooks we saw use this.

I think I wanted to say something but I went for the tvtropes article of this and forgot what.

Things like rape, incest and torture are both 1) not discussed often and 2) known to cause actual serious conditions. Problem is when someone complains about missing trigger warning for topics which are either extremely likely to be discussed - including just locally, like it doesn't make sense to add "Trigger warning: transformations" to posts on EGS forum because anyone having problems with transformations will avoid EGS with great margin - or to something which seems unlikely to trigger anyone ... although your example with food shows that sometimes it's not obvious what can be trigger. (I suppose there is no need for ANY trigger warnings on forum for Games of Thrones. Alternatively, they should be in page heading, so no need to include them in posts.) Actually, I would suspect that people truly affected will prefer to NOT discuss it, so they wouldn't be vocal in complains due to that. Meanwhile, trolls are usually vocal enough to over-talk people having normal discussion, so they have even less problems over-talking affected people ...

Maybe, though I wonder if Fox could use the watches, I'd be more inclined to believe that Nanase would morph into Grace first, then create Fox already looking like Grace. She can even cast spells. Although yes, they can do it like this too. Jumping? No. Her first reaction will be she wouldn't like it. But I'm not sure if she would be able to ask for her male form from Grace's birthday in non-awkward way. Although ... she can always try this method. Ok. Totally more likely than trying Tedd form.

Either other artists are better (quicker) in finding colors that look good together, or they have less concern about the composition. Note also that if you include uniforms, for example, you don't need to care about finding new colors for every person ... ... yup, that's the "less concern" option. Well ... technically, there are 256 options for greyscale, but Dan is only using 33 colors. Using the same method, you would get 35937 colors for RGB, which is still lot but much less. And there will be lot of colors in that looking very similar. The real issue is not that you can't limit the palette for RGB: the issue is that it's hard to make palette in RGB which would make colors look good TOGETHER. ... it's surprising how cute she looks despite being between people who are ALSO shrunk ... Yeah, I'm pretty sure Sarah is over the whole transformation phobia. Next up, seeing her friends naked. I suspect that working with Tedd and Grace is good for that too

The difference is that "depriving people of a reference of their spells" will not be that big incentive. Option to learn their spells WILL be. And while those combats will be dramatic, they would also make harder to keep magic from public knowledge. And they would "militarize" magic - currently, lot of people have very different, INTERESTING spells, while real and serious risk of combat would mean most would want fireballs. We don't know the reason for it, it wasn't even directly mentioned, but from how the world look it's likely magic doesn't WANT to be mostly used in combat. (At least on this half of world. The other half of world have lot of signs of magic being used in combat a lot there.) Yes. Even if the book would look to have such titles just to mundane people, it makes little sense unless it's to make them unlikely to try to read it. Note that obviously the best title for spellbook is something like Dungeons & Dragons: Player's Option: Spells & Magic, because that would be 100% protection of masquerade even if someone would read it whole. Yes, very interesting question. Note that it might also completely disappear.

Her growth in this strip does however, in my opinion, end up quite a bit to top-heavy for her slim build. I think her bust size in the third stage looked much better, foxy yet still athletic. I'd still scratch her behind the ears (and probably get nipped for it) though... I would guess, based on her smile, that she LIKES the growth. Although personally I agree that the combination of bigger breasts and slimmer waist seems too much. ... given their reaction to Grace I think they would be comfortable with that. And I suppose Ellen wouldn't want to roleplay Elliot even if Nanase would like to (which is not likely), but Cheerleadra? Why not? (And secret identities are given, even Elliot takes them partially separated.) Of course, they can't really TRANSFORM to anyone else than Grace ... yet ... Well ... we actually got update of that opinion ... but it is possible she would still consider "sister with benefits" ... Does it even matter? With them together, it's like positive feedback. They would do kinkier stuff that either of them would consider on her own. (If they didn't already.) I already mentioned: they'll probably fail to resist the temptation to use Grace. The "combination with my magic" seems like Fox will be using the watches. Tedd, however ... I don't see either of them being tempted by THAT. Although with Tedd form, they technically have way to get pregnant even without further help from him, which MIGHT make them consider it later ... (like, thinking if trying Tedd would be more or less awkward than asking him for something else). That MIGHT not be enough for curing him, although it was definitely big step, and she will certainly go through rest of steps without noticing (and without Elliot noticing) ...

Edward didn't make Nanase's book, Helena and Demetrius gave it to her when they awakened her. Even if he did it wouldn't mean he wrote it personally. I meant that he might be using similar trick, possibly even learned the trick from spellbooks.
-
I'm not sure she SAW the title, much less what's inside. Sarah might be referring to Grace. While it's possible non-awakened can't read it, we have nothing in canon supporting the idea. Also, those "random titles" might be fixed, we have nothing supporting the idea different people see it differently. On the other hand ... maybe Edward's writting is not just that bad ...

I thought that the thing with Latinum wasn't that it couldn't be replicated at all, but rather that any person with an ordinary tricorder could distinguish the difference between replicated Latinum and the natural stuff. In other words, counterfeits are easy to detect. Well, It can't be replicated. He has. Question is if he was in any other good movies than the Bond ones.

That movie was awful. Loki is a jotun. They even ADMITTED he is a jotun. And they still got a human actor to play him. Well they DID also established he's shapeshifter. As I understand, this is not common trait between jotuns, and therefore only jotun capable of playing Loki would be Loki. ... and he MIGHT actually played himself, no matter if director knew.

That's exactly the reason why I think it will NOT be possible. Magic might be trolling, but not maliciously, and this sounds like something which wouldn't make sense as a mechanism ... Similarly, I don't think you can actually HIDE the book from owner who knows what he's doing. I mean, Justin currently doesn't know, so he may have it on a bookshelf, but IF the spellbook must be unique, it would be possible to locate it with magic and Edward will likely know how. Alternatively, maybe he can just link a new spellbook to Justin which makes the old one stop working or something ...

It hasn't really stopped Nanase from fantasizing about both Grace and Elliot, though I guess Ellen doesn't mind as long as she can tease someone about it. Sure, there is nothing bad on fantasizing. And Ellen seems more than willing to roleplay, and they have that option now ... I mean, I think Nanase prefers to keep Ellen and change her look to trying other people.

... or someone black being cast as Norse god.
-
No. But not being native speaker, my opinion doesn't mean much.
-
Nanase asking God for help in Sister II can certainly be seen as that, whether or not it was actually necessary is unknown, though Ellen certainly believed in it enough to do the same in Family Tree. Though it is noteworthy to mention that Nanase didn't say anything to invoke her guardian form the second time. Which is consistent with the idea that the spell is now hers and she only prayed to GET the spell, not to CAST it. Also, both Adrian and Abraham are old-school. Calling spells was probably in fashion few centuries back Or ... wait. They are both wizards. It may be specific to being wizards ... Well, true. But even then, the "incantation" is only one of requirement, and not so important one. Finding out the words will not help you much in casting that spell. Sure we did. Jerry. While, as immortal, he might be another exception, we also don't have any reason to assume other people CAN'T read the spellbooks. Nanase is certainly afraid her mother WILL be able to read it, despite her assuming her mother doesn't know magic.

Depends on how you define lesbian. What is definitely never too much is bisexuals. Well, it would definitely be better for Nanase and Ellen. The one true dodecahedron (or where did we ended) notwithstanding, I think Nanase prefers to be in just one relationship at once. Also, I ship Diane with Charlotte. ... hey, who ELSE should I ship her with? It's not like there is any available man in cast ...

For reference: FOOF in some really interesting series of articles. More likely it was because of radioactivity. Some of atoms either in the AA or in the shock-proof case were radioactive and decayed in the "right" moment. But I also liked the theory about someone talking bad about it.
-
...okay. That might be more flammable than ClF3, but harder to keep on hand as FOOF decomposes very rapidly. Also according to Wikipedia, FOOF has fewer uses outside of idle amusement, whereas ClF3is regularly used by the semiconductor industry to clean their chemical vapor disposition chambers and was once considered for use as rocket fuel (and was decided against due to difficulties handling it. I've heard the accident that resulted in ClF3 burning through concrete and the gravel beneath was when NASA was transporting some of it for testing) Another interesting thing is Azidoazide azide. As mentioned in this great video, it's so sensitive it's sensitivity can't be measured. List of things which can make it explode includes "absolutely nothing". Actually, VOLTAIRE and Helena were moderators and the conflict was excellent example what will happen if, in forum with multiple moderators, some of them start taking sides in the flame war. Except usually it ends much worse.
