A long time ago I did something called "No Need for Monogamy" which was intended as a humorous take on Tenchi Muyo, but it soon attracted a mob of creepoids, so I took it down. Anyway, I don't buy Susan or Diane as ever being satisfied with a triangular marriage or even romance. Grace might see nothing wrong with it except that it might disturb Tedd and Sarah; I believe Dan has established that a common Uryuom arrangement is three parents in a family.

About a hundred kids a year are killed by backovers, and thousands are injured. I've always been aware of this because in the county I used to live in in Idaho when I was a child, the richest man in the county killed his grandson by backing over him. Big news in a county that's never had more than a few thousand residents. How rich was he? He had his own aircraft and his own airport.

That's some crunchy analysis there, pardner. So it's true that there doesn't seem to be any definitive proof in canon that Justin actually knows that Rhoda is Catalina's girlfriend, it's incredibly plausible that he either does definitely know by now, or has guessed correctly. So Dan can go either way if and when he decides that question is important to future plot development. I don't think so. If your webcam is working, try combing your hair using the image of yourself on the screen. This is why backup cameras on cars are required to flip the image horizontally so like a mirror. BTW, backup cameras are now required equipment on new cars in the USA, which should cut down a bit on toddlers getting run over.

So Diane is probably going to seek out Justin. Too bad she hasn't noticed that Lucy is the one that's really hurting now. However, it's possible Justin, being Justin, will have noticed the dynamic between Lucy and Diane by now, and either has some kind of relationship with Rhoda or at least knows about Rhoda and Catalina from Susan. Birds of a feather. And there is that Xena skirt Lucy is actually wearing to school today. There's also the fact that Justin works at a comic book and game store. Remember when Susan took Catalina to Salty Crackers in the spring break just after the earthquake? Justin told Catalina there were some nerd girls playing a Xena RPG in back. Possibly Lucy might have been one of them. However, since Diane hasn't yet realized how upset Lucy is, the elephant is still definitely there...

I floated the henna theory a long time ago, and I doubt I was first. The obvious reason is parental disapproval. There's also the factoid that there are only three states where tattooing a minor is legal: Hawaii, Idaho (min. age 14) and Florida (16). I think the main cast are all eighteen now. However, what if Akiko gets a magic mark that is mistaken for a tattoo?

Like Lucy on the day Ellen and Grace started at Moperville South, Diane's inner child calls present-day Diane "Nancy Drew", so Dan must have looked back at that comic. But in the flashback in Panel Four, while Diane is wearing the same outfit as she wore, she has stripes around both her arms, and they are straight, not zig-zag. I doubt if this is an important plot point, but I do wonder why Dan decided on the change, especially since Dan depicted Diane with only one zig-zag stripe in Justin's flashback to when Justin was outed. The starburst in panel seven isn't mirrored; Dan used two different starbursts. You can tell because the one on the right has a darker background. I'm more impressed by the very subtle streaks Dan put in the windows in the last two comics, giving the impression that they're glass, not just generic background.

That's a thought. However, Adrian's never been shown with anything like that, unless you count the "Pimp Daddy R" that Ellen and maybe Nanase sometimes picture him as.

Maybe this will be Monday's first gag: Diane (Eyes still squeezed shut): There is no elephant!! Familiar Voice: Elephant? (Diane opens her eyes. Adrian Raven is standing in front of her.)

I just watched inside Out twice waiting to get my internet back before reading this comic. So, will it all become clear to Diane on Monday? Well, probably not. But maybe a three way argument between Diane, her inner child, and her inner elephant? Well, her grandma had a three-way argument with herself...

No, but I have heard that you can never cross the same river twice. And I had a computer where I eventually replaced every part except the casing and the power supply.

Well, Lucy could actually be honest about her feelings to Diane. But of course, those things don't happen in EGS unless there's something like an attack by a Spider Vampire, or getting invited to Grace's next birthday party.. Or maybe a mysterious floating woman telling Lucy to do it. Adrian obviously has to come into this story in a big way, but when is another question. It's not established whether either Diane or Lucy is taking one of Adrian's classes this semester. Pandora could advise Lucy at any time from her return, but I don't see her up to marking Lucy or anyone else for awhile.Jerry reset during the last spring break, and he didn't show up as Zeus until New Year's. Pandora's "refresh" should make her recovery faster, but it's only been three days, and the last comic in Sister 3 took place at "an unknown time."

But did you catch the change in expressions on the guy in panel 2 and panel 3? If Justin being outed got to be the hot gossip at MSHS, how could Diane, Lucy, and Rhoda not be tagged as the Lesbian Three Stooges? And yet Diane becomes a cheerleader? Makes one wonder about the rest of the cheer squad... Speaking of Stooge Science, it should be obvious to everyone that Diane is the Moe. Now, Lucy is actually the Shemp. I know, I know, Curly's the third stooge most people think of, but Shemp was actually in the act before Curly; Lucy was the first to connect with Diane. Shemp was the tallest, like Lucy. Shemp was also a tremendous boxing fan, and that sort of fits Lucy, doesn't it? Rhoda's the Larry, smart but not dominant or aggressive. Don't know how to fit in Charlotte yet. Anyway, poor Lucy. Rhoda made her into a third wheel, Nanase moved her to fourth, Susan made her the spare, and maybe Elliot moved Lucy into the back of the garage. We haven't even seen Lucy react yet to Diane actually hanging out with Nanase, Ellen, Grace, and even Justin. We don't even know yet if Lucy is aware of Charlotte. Lucy doesn't know about Diane's encounters with not-Tengu, the griffins, and the spider vampire. Lucy doesn't know Rhoda has magic. Lucy's so far out of the Loop here she might be in Indiana or even in Iowa. (BTW, Chigago joke; look up "The Loop")

Just exactly how long do we have to wait before we see Diane kiss a girl? And will she be Lucy?

Note that the earliest comment is from 2006; Kim is still in the original green cargo pants, and Tedd looks like he did before Grace's birthday party.

Ya think? I don't think I've seen more than two or three hundred verRONica pics so far. I wonder why Dan never did something with KP, at least a cameo. EGS and KP are both about teenagers in high school mixed in with weird and (mostly) humorous adventures.

Remember how Luke Skywalker let a Sand Person sneak up right in front of him because he was looking through his cool space binoculars? Tight focus/tunnel vision. At the mall, Diane was focused on Susan most of the time. Diane demonstrated remarkable perception the very first time we heard her speaking. Lucy calls Diane "Nancy Drew" and Diane is pictured as Sherlock Holmes, which is why she's Diane Holmes in my headcanon. That's two famous detectives in just one comic. And yet she didn't seem to notice Nanase at all until Ellen flipped Nanase's ponytail.

Wouldn't dare? You have to fear to dare, and Adrian has never shown fear for himself, only for others.

I'm not sure if that's in canon, but it sounds plausible. I don't believe there's any evidence in canon that Adrian knew Grace had any powers until Death Sentence. Adrian doesn't seem to sense anything magical in Diane or any resemblance to himself or his mother before meeting Susan. On Grace and Ellen's first day of school, it was Ellen's magic he sensed. Once he found out Grace had so much power in Death Sentence, Adrian briefly started to think how much he could accomplish by guiding her--until he remembered what had happened with Tedd's mom Noriko. So, why wouldn't Adrian have detected Diane's magical potential? He's known her at least since her freshman year. Maybe we're about to learn a little more about that freshman year, given the flashback in the last panel. Or, maybe not. Maybe the most fitting motivation is that being so sure he really screwed up the lives of Noriko, Edward, and Tedd, he deliberately has been ignoring magic potential, although there's no way he doesn't know Nanase has magic. And until a three days ago (it's only the Monday morning after the Friday funfest at the mall) Adrian was convinced he couldn't possibly have any children, so he could have rationalized away any superficial resemblance he saw in Diane. Of course, the mere lack of evidence for anything doesn't prove that it absolutely could not be so. More evidence could turn up. Dan has left plenty of working space for Adrian to have known a lot more about Diane than he's shown to us so far, and Adrian might have even brought Rhoda and Diane together because he knew they both had potential magic.

Up until TLoD began (Dan's abbreviation, check the filenames), Diane's adoptive father was never mentioned. He didn't need to be. The only fathers who've really been a presence for the whole series have been Tedd's and Elliot's. However... Diane's attitude toward her dad was a bolt from the blue in the first comic of TLoD She may still hold him as the gold standard of men in this latest comic. But did he get devalued by the time we first saw Diane as a gold-digging high-school junior? It just might be possible that Dan didn't have any concept of Diane's family at all until he decided to create Rhea. But Dan probably has some backstories in mind for the mommy and daddy Diane and Rhea grew up with. And maybe even a last name for Diane, but that may be too much to ask for. The backstory for gold-standard-Dad might include Dad getting caught having an affair before Diane took Rhoda under her wing. Sound vaguely familiar?
