Good idea My family needs that. We'd have to dig a basement, though.

I am less than gruntled by it, yes.

I really do not understand the criticism and low approval rating of Joe Biden. He is not the be all and end all of US presidents, but he isn't bad. He has not royally F#%&ed things up, as his predecessor. For my tastes, he could more aggressively unravel the recent past, but he's head and shoulders above the competition. Compare to Mango Mayhem: Biden: Mango Mayhem: Failed to remove odious policies of Mango Mayhem Implemented policies of Mango Mayhem Is old. Rides a bike. Not great at it. Is slightly younger. Poster boy for bad diet. Does not ride a bike. Pretty much squeaky clean, kid is not great. Stinks to high heaven on many levels. Kids are also not great. Understands the job. Has a track record. Does not. Nor listens to advisors. Let's be honest, nor gives a $#!%. Specifically about current conflict in Gaza, for which he is taking considerable flack, neither side is in the right. Israel has a culture of devaluing and mistreating Palestinians, often motivated by Hamas antics, and Hamas attacks Israel at every opportunity, hiding behind the civilian population. The recent Hamas attack and taking of hostages is inexcusable. Israel's response appears to lack restraint for civilian third parties. There is no moral high ground to be had. Biden is using US forces to interdict hostile players from outside of Israel. Seems moderately effective so far. He is also trying to broker a peaceful solution. Orange Idiot plays to his base, says both antisemitic things and supports neo-Nazis, and supports Israel in their anti-Palestinian stance. Talks out of both sides of his mouth is not generally a trait you want from someone who claims to be a friend. OK, so maybe the issue isn't Biden vs the G.O.P. Let's look at his own party. Biden: Other potential candidates: Understands the job. Has a track record. <crickets chirping> I think Hillary would have been good. I think better of her now, in retrospect, than I did in 2016. I voted for her, even then, she seemed better than The Dumpster Fire. But I don't think she's electable. I liked Bernie, but the more i hear him, the less I think he's realistic, and he also seems divisive. I also don't think he's electable. I like Kamala Harris. She has an excellent track record. I think another term of VP with Biden would enhance her future chances. Donald Dumpster may not be presidential, nor honest, nor smart, but I'll give him this, he may be the President we deserve. Heaven help us, and the rest of the world.

I hope you at least make it to the green, so you can put your way to the hole. It would be more entertaining if they used too few employees, and the entire thing took off. WW I flying ace, indeed. I plan to not do that. Have been there, done that, though. For me, buffets are worse. That is on point; the holidays bring together family who are often distant in more ways than one. Invariably, they have different views on controversial topics. The only way to avoid this is to never associate. Better? <shrug> Sometimes, that happens; people avoid family gatherings because they know beforehand that there will be disagreement. Thanksgiving does that. People push themselves too far, driving, cooking, etc. They tend to eat a lot, as you said. The turkey is a good source of tryptophan, which tends to put you to sleep. Mitigates the previous issue. It can be a big day for ('Mercin) football. Bigger for school games, no? So there will be many followed, winners and losers. I plan to not watch any. I can follow and enjoy football, but it's rarely my thing to do; I generally have better options. I will sit around and talk, then hope to play some games with folks. Yeah, a lot of that . . . The European participants at the original event were Pilgrims. The Puritans came later in large numbers and took over the colony. Both were dicks to the Native Americans, for whom this is "We Missed Our Opportunity" day. They had a good start, between the Vikings and Roanoke, but they were bound to fail to keep the infection out at some point. So here we are. FWIW, the Puritans would not have approved. They are well known for not approving. Indeed. Make the best of it you can. Enjoy those who allow it. It is an opportunity, not a guarantee. Are you traveling to see kids, or will you be in Florida? I am avoiding a family event to avoid the drama, and hanging out with friends.

Butt grimace is when you squeeze the cheeks together? Does it only count when you are laying on your side? Is this a cheeky response?
  10. NP Comic for Saturday, Nov 18, 2023 Crazy like a fox. "You know she's a little bit dangerous . . ."

I've switched pharmacies for less aggravation than that, but I never had opiates prescribed. I thought Texas was a step more Libertarian than most states, but apparently not in that. Might have to do with Federal compliance.

    Contemplating her great leap.
  17. NP Comic for Thursday, Nov 16, 2023

I have never been a general (I briefed one, once), but I am part of the public. I know the Lego corporate stance on 'Legos' vs "Lego Building Blocks', but have you noticed that everybody calls them Legos anyway, and if you do call them Legos, people know what you mean, it does not lead to confusion. The price of success, I'd say. If the Lego Police show up at my door, I suppose I will need to comply. Not the little police Minifigs, actual Lego Police. I attended a mini-Comic Con recently, and there was a decently brisk trade in Lego Minifigs. There were three or four vendors that had them, and they were drawing somewhat larger numbers of customers than the average booth. I made no such purchases, but I have to admit, it was tempting. I am also a fan of the long out of production Tycos aka Tyco Building Blocks that were interchangeable with Legos. I gather this is a minority position. They were well made and had some innovative designs; sad to see them no longer available. Their version of Minifigs were not as good, though. I am curious why /me did not raise the customary objection?

Good point, Kevin has ethical values instilled by Arthur. But he is unable to assess compliance due to lack of insight into what makes folks tick, perhaps also due to sensory limitations, and then overreacts when the question comes up. Scrappy Kevin, what a barrel of laughs. (I can hear the laugh track playing in my head. Corporate demanded that it be included. In test showings of the comic, the audience did not get the Scrappy Kevin jokes when it was excluded.) "Scrappy Kevin Stick, where are you, we've got some work to do now. . . ."
  19. NP Comic for Tuesday, Nov 14, 2023 You REALLY don't have to explain.

I used to mess with one of our cats with a paper grocery bag. I'd lay the bag on the floor, opening facing the cat, and scratch on the bottom. Such noises MUST be investigated! Continued occasional scratching kept me and the cat entertained for several minutes. Great minds think alike, I guess.
  21. Deep Thoughts

That sounds like a good place to be. I wonder how much the location of the center of the Earth varies throughout a year. It's not much, but I bet it's not zero.

Evidence so far suggests he lacks all context to be a prude or not.

She looks like you caught her doing something she shouldn't. Also looks like she's stretched out very comfortably, looking like Elizabeth Taylor lounging on the chaise in Cleopatra - Cleocatra.

Does she have a preference for one foot?
