I think the 'Whoops' is because Tedd had not connected the dots at that point, no misdirection intended. He was not yet aware that he was a seer and a wand maker. It seems that Edward should have some sense that is the case, that current understanding does not imply prior understanding.

This is a problem with narrative time skips.

"Not much happened between points A & B" is not the same as "Nothing happened".

Tedd, I thought you were more aware of your comic status than most.

Tedd has said, to members of the main cast, that Edward didn't believe him about the magical space whales.  Did find out that the magic level in town was higher than normal.

Edward discounting what Tedd had to say then does not give him the right to act like he 'should have been told'.

 

To restate Edward's objection for him, "Tedd, you as an older child, also having issues with expressing yourself which were known to me, failed to format the information that you desired to impart to me in a way that I took seriously. I am now blaming you for my decision to disregard what you were saying at the time."
