So not really an explanation why, but some confirmation that Hope is indeed shy about her new circumstances.

Since Grace is an employee, and the store tends to need more staff during tournaments, this seems like a particularly bad plan.

Note that in the commentary, Hope's room is 'magic'. I seems like it is isolated from the surrounding world, only connected by the magic entrance, so seemingly (more so than before) an extra-dimensional space, aka pocket dimension. That begs several questions; "Does Hope need to breathe air?", "If so, how does the room maintain oxygen level?", "Can her friends visit?" (I imagine so, if she clues them in and perhaps makes an exception to wards for them), "How does it maintain a livable temperature?" - You'd expect being extra-dimensional to be like a super efficient thermos bottle, and her body heat would build up. Possibly, it bleeds heat like crazy and should be freezing, although temperature in space can be weird, not a lot of heat content even though the temperature is extreme, so hanging in nothing might be similar. Or it could all be mitigated by whatever forced air flow is happening.

There was a recent successful probe into the sun's outer corona. The temperature is millions of degrees, but it is near vacuum. The probe survived, collected data, and reported back.

My thought is  that a perhaps unexpected side effect of Pandora trying to retain her memories is that she feels horribly inadequate, always comparing what she is to what she was.

This indeed makes sense. She seems to be a better person than the typical reboot we've seen for having retained memories, less callous.
