Hmm. This comic seems unnecessary.

Jay wants to apologize for overreacting earlier. I suppose there is a point of view where she did, but I don't think her earlier reaction was an overreaction.

AJ is baffled by how she knew. She explains, which is probably not a great idea. I think she knows this, because she gives scant details, and later refuses to elaborate.

AJ expects to be told he's doing something wrong. Jay does not care. Which supports my notion that this was unnecessary.

AJ wants to know more. This is where Jay refuses, which may be a combination of unwilling and unable to elaborate. She is likely also mindful of Arthur's warning not to talk about magic. She still took a risk and invited unwanted attention by raising the issue. Now AJ has some awareness of Jay's capabilities.

She really would have been better off letting him slink away.

Looking back at the previous comic, Jay asks whether AJ's spell is visible in a mirror. IT seemed like a snarky dig, now I'm wondering if Jay was genuinely curious. If so, she should have found a mirror and tested it rather than open the dialog with AJ, who she clearly dislikes.

Regarding the commentary, I'm not seeing that Jay's refusal to talk about magic with AJ is anything like kicking even a single puppy, let alone a thousand, although, again, it would have been wiser to let sleeping AJs slink.

I think getting to know the core group will help her with this sort of thing, being able to vent in a safe place, learn some discernment, and gain some self-control.

Which makes me wonder what Liz's relationship to the overall group will be? Comic for Monday, Dec 30, 2024

1. I should not have been that angry or mean.  My initial reaction was excessive. 

2. You are not so unusual.  There are others who can do what you do and much more.  If you annoy the wrong people the result will be much more than a brown out. 

3.  Leave me alone.  I will not be your teacher, coach or mentor.  Neither shall I introduce you to my support team.

She was successful in giving them to AJ, however they left AJ more confused than he was before.  This may or may not be a good thing going forward.

I don't believe she was excessive. Perhaps because she was traumatized by her childhood reaction to being subject to someone else's magic, she feels like her reactions are all overboard. It will be good for her to talk this out.

She did get 'not so unusual' across. I'm not on board with that point being made is beneficial. The last thing they need is a loose cannon snooping on them.

It was probably not obvious to AJ nor most of the folks there that the brownout had anything to do with 'magic'.

This point would have been best addressed by not raising AJs awareness. He was in avoidance mode.

No, if she didn't say any thing he might try it on her again, which might not have had the same effect, but would have pissed her off.  And a pissed off wizard isn't normally a good thing.

He would be easy to avoid. He wanted to do that during the game, she made him play.
