I know that Jay doesn't like hugs, but she better hug Grace or bad things may happen.

Jay is going to be OK, (meta) mainly because it's Dan(a) writing, and this is a character redemption arc, but in-story, she's found a group of people she can trust, and can unload her burden she's been toting since she was six.

Jay does not seem to be Susan level of not wanting to hug. Once the source of detachment is removed, she may be fine.

Long term, though, she'll still have to work through  her childhood trauma.

They are both “a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma” to miss use a phrase, and someone needs to start to unroll them, to really torture a metaphor.
