No wonder he appears in the comic so rarely.

How many billable hours can you charge per panel?

Do you need to declare a supernatural specialization before or after taking the Bar exam?

But ten years?

From eight years old to now, Elliot never asked his dad about his job.  Or never got a straight answer?

Might be a security issue, like having a clearance and not discussing your work at home.

I find his reaction in the last panel odd, like he should have known what those around him knew.

Also, not seeing how this relates to giving the couple the ability to plan searches from the sky.

What did he do before passing the bar? How did he come to choose that specialty, one that most lawyers would be totally unaware of?  For that matter, what about Mrs. Dunkel's background?

Do either of them have any Magic?

Maybe it's Mrs.  Dunkel is the former agent.  And she had to drop that career when she gave birth to Elliot.  Of course, that doesn't really jive with the “young mother” thing that has been established for her.

If you're trying to keep something secret, don't tell your young children.

They both look to be in their thirties; so yeah, she would have been a young mother in her early-ish twenties.

So, she's around 39 or 40, but she had to drop out (quoting one of the subsequently  linked comics) and to be a Government 'Agent' implies a degree, which would have meant returning to school; seems like a tight timeline. Doable, but awkward.

Maybe one (or both of them) went through a MilGeek phase and read the US Army's field manual, “The Ranger Handbook.”  Which is unclassified. Or play paintball as a hobby.
