  1. Things You Find Amusing

My guess? Swampy found an alternate method of opening that door.
  2. What Are You Ingesting?

My brother and I took our parents out for dinner at The Keg Steakhouse for their 40th anniversary/dad's 67th birthday (yes dad got married on his birthday, we joke that he did it so he wouldn't forget the anniversary). I had a 12oz Peppercorn New York Strip steak with a twice baked potato and grilled veggies. My brother had a 20oz Rib Eye (bone in), also with a twice baked potato and veggies, both my parents had the fillet mignon and once baked potato and veggies. Me and my brother didn't get any desert but mom wanted to try the creme brulee and our waitress brought out a cappuccino ice cream cake for my dad's birthday, both the creme brulee and ice cream cake were bigger than expected so my brother and I ended up helping to eat those.
  3. What Are You Ingesting?

I've had Guinness Stout before if that counts. Otherwise the next closest might be Mill Street Brewery's Coffee Porter which, while only 5% alc, has a pretty good dark roast coffee flavour IMO.
  4. What Are You Ingesting?

Having one of these at the moment: It's...different, kinda on the heavy side compared to say Alexander Keith's Red Amber Ale.
  5. Story Friday August 25, 2017

Yeah I'm inclined to believe that the item was sabotaged in such a way to reveal the "Bon Voyage" upon use. The shield emblem would have made it seem like a defensive item at first. The spiral and message would make it some sort of teleport or portal.

Sometimes the obvious things are easier to overlook than the non-obvious. Nevertheless, to be incapable of overlooking something would likely require INFINITE intellect. I think it's Perception you want, although I guess some Intellect might be needed to know that something is obvious or not, but Perception would be the primary stat you'd want to put points in. ... I dunno if that's a very good RPG analogy, I just woke up and my Charisma has a debuff on it until I have coffee...
  7. Story Friday August 25, 2017

I get the impression that he's either more powerful than the beast aberration, or at least more calculating. It felt like he wanted the beast to try to attack him and it's possible the beast sensed his power, but we're still left not knowing for sure who would have won.
  8. More Speculation.

Ok, this isn't so much speculation, but a question and possible frustration. The question: What are the chances Grace told Tedd about the illusion Adrian put on her during "Death Sentence" making her look like Susan? Its possible that Tedd and Sarah are going to talk about Pandora the next time they see each other, Tedd might be itching to tell Sarah "Box"s real name and that she's his great godmother, and mention Mr Raven being his godfather which would confirm what Sarah concluded after her last visit from "Box", Sarah knows that Pandora had a previous version of herself send a lie to her next life and that it's a big deal and something that could affect her relationship with her son, if Grace had told Tedd about the illusion and mentioned that Adrian said he couldn't have kids, it's possible he could jump to the conclusion that the lie was about Elves not being able to have kids, and that the Susan might be related to Adrian. The frustration would come from Grace having not told Tedd about the illusion, as it would likely mean Sarah telling Tedd her side, and then Tedd mentioning it to Grace after school and Grace jumping to that conclusion, but it may be too late by that point to tell anyone else.
  9. Story, Wednesday, Aug 23, 2017

If I'm reading the bounty details right, the part about killing anyone other than the target or those that can summon magic weapons would only apply after the signal to begin the attack is given. So Comically Evil Guy wouldn't apply yet.
  10. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2388 That is one weird looking vampire/aberration. I'm a little torn, of course Comically Evil Guy's about to get eaten which would essentially save the orphanage, but this is an aberration we're talking about.

Is it bad that I find it amusing that Susan went a little overboard there and is now backpeddling? I mean Hanma asked her to help make sure she wouldn't offend anyone or be seen as a bad Immortal and so Susan thought she was doing so by pointing out her use of Japanese honorifics, but of course she didn't know the reason Hanma mentioned it to begin with.
  12. The Weather.

One would think that I lived in England rather than Ontario, Canada, with Windsor, London, Stratford, the latter two cities being situated on the Thames and Avon rivers respectably. Also there's Oxford, Essex, Kent, Middlesex counties among others. But then we do have a few oddities such as Paris and Wyoming thrown in.
  13. Story Wednesday August 16th, 2017

As far as I can remember, the curve is fairly gentle upwards, but then goes worse than EVE's after the first cat death.
  14. Story Wednesday August 16th, 2017

Huh, apparently there's been a couple revisions to the EVE Online Learning curve. Revision #1, Revision #2.

I feel Elliot can still know of Anime and have a general idea to be able to understand when someone's referencing it, but that doesn't mean he'd actually be into it. The reason I think this is the fact that Elliot knows about Superman, but doesn't ACTUALLY know about Superman, as in he's never read the comics or anything, he just knows that Superman's a guy that is strong and can fly and dates Lois Lane. Actually, looking back at this page, I don't think Nanase had ever tried to correct Elliot on improper honorifics based on Anime, or evidence that Elliot ever used them at all, or else she wouldn't feel the need to warn Elliot about others expositing his ears off for not knowing things about Superman. If she had mentioned something much earlier about anime and honorifics and such, this instance would just be an addendum to it because it'd be very similar, but it doesn't feel like an addendum. I wasn't saying you're wrong, I was just saying we don't know for sure and there are other possibilities that we can't just assume. My statements were basically saying that while they could watch anime and read manga, there's no guarantee that they've gone out of their way to learn Japanese or just opted to watch/read English translated versions. I mean, we have Ashley who's read manga but doesn't know a lick of Japanese and only attempted to learn Spanish. That's why I originally said it'd be more likely that Susan contacted Nanase rather than Ashley despite how good of a segue it'd be to introduce Ashley into the story.
  16. Question about f!Tedd's form and Edward's aversion

Even before Edward was approached by Will and Gill, Tedd had some "strange interests" that made Edward believe that the TFG would be very tempting for Tedd to use. You know...the more I look at this page, the more I wonder if Edward's behaviour isn't so much that he's being transphobic, but being worried about how others might treat Tedd should they find out about his gender swapping. We know Tedd was worried about what Elliot thought about it and at one point Tedd had a reason to think that. Elliot didn't understand back then why Tedd did it, heck Tedd didn't really understand either, it's quite possible that Edward also doesn't understand, but is thinking more "big picture" in terms of when Tedd is out of high school, going to college, getting a job, etc, and how people might treat him if they knew. It'd be weirdly similar to when Nanase was trying to explain being gay to Akiko, she didn't want to give Akiko ideas about liking girls because she was worried about Akiko going through what her and Justin did. It doesn't make Edward's behaviour about it right, but I am still hopeful that it can be worked out if someone starts really talking about it, whether Edward initiates it himself, or Tedd goes to him, or Grace or Elliot, or even Pandora.
  17. Question about f!Tedd's form and Edward's aversion

Edward did see how Tedd looked FV5'd after Ellen zapped him back in the first Sister arc. All Edward did then was sigh and then think maybe he should have given Tedd a more gender neutral name when he was born.

I don't know, seemed like a decent amount of time passed between when we saw him and when he called Elliot. There's the time spent in the book store with Elliot transforming, then they were casually walking to the next store to use the dressing rooms, that'd be several minutes probably, and then however long they spent making out in the rooms. Yeah, that mention was early in the comic and we haven't even seen Grace actually speak Japanese so beyond Tedd, Elliot (and Ellen because she'd have the memory of Elliot being told that) no one else might know. At the same time, even if Susan had be told at one point she might still default to Nanase because Susan's spent more time with Nanase over the past while.

We saw him duck into the "Anime Stuff" shop in the mall, but we don't know what caught his attention. Overall though Tensaided is a serious geek that knows a lot of pop culture stuff. Being into anime doesn't guarantee knowing Japanese.
  20. NP Monday August 21, 2017

We know Elliot and Ellen's only knowledge of Japanese is in the form of fancy combat shouts. When Ellen went over to Nanase's to help babysit Akiko, she didn't understand anything beyond the fact that Nanase's parents were leaving. I'm sure Nanase probably tried to teach some to Ellen though, but then that would make her more knowledgeable than Elliot if Ellen picked up anything from it. We've no evidence that Tedd ever learned any Japanese, I don't think Noriko ever got around to even trying to teach him before she left and I get the feeling that Tedd never really spent much time with the Kitsunes growing up. The only other language that we know he knows is Uryuomoco. Edward probably knows many languages thanks to Uryuom's fancy teaching methods, but there's no guarantee that Tedd's got the same level of linguistics knowledge. Grace was apparently teaching herself Japanese, we don't know how far along she went with it though so we can't be sure if she'd be the one to inform Susan about honorifics. We don't know if Salty Crackers imports Japanese manga or even has manga at all, though I'd be inclined to think any manga in stock would be translated versions. We're basically betting on if Nanase also tried teaching Justin anything beyond fancy combat shouts. Greg, I'm not sure, his knowledge of Japanese might just be limited to the fancy combat shouts he taught in ASMA class, the anime he watched could have been subbed or dubbed for all we know. Also Susan hasn't had any interaction with him as far as we know since I think the first Sister arc. Has there been any evidence that Tensaided would know Japanese?

I get the feeling that either Pandora isn't the only one that had a previous life pass on lies about their kind, or other Immortals just chose to avoid serious relationships with Humans and Pandora took it a step further.
  22. NP Monday August 21, 2017

Susan's "friend" is either Ashley and this is a segue to bringing to into the story, or it's Nanase who'd be more likely to know how Japanese honorifics worked. Most likely the latter. Hanma really wants to make an effort to not be seen as a bad Immortal here. Guess there's hope for them yet.
  23. NP Friday Aug 18 2017

Gunnerkrigg Court also suggests that. The whole idea of Human magic users and affinities being due to Immortal+Human having children at one point in the distant past reminds me of how in Stargate Lore when the Ancients abandoned Atlantis in the Pegasus galaxy, most went back to Earth where they had originally settled in the Milky Way. From the Stargate wikia: " After their desperate departure from Atlantis 10,000 years ago, the Ancients returned to Earth. Upon their return, the Ancients found Humans in the hunter-gatherer stage of evolution. The Ancients were unable to restart their empire, so many Ancients bred with the native humans to set a path for the future and create future civilizations, while others went on and ascended. " The results of Ancient+Human interbreeding meant the descendants had the ability to use Ancient technology which the Ancients had keyed to a specific bit of genetic code. Immortals in EGS could have been like the Ancients at one time, except highly advanced magic users rather than technologically advanced, and some may have ascended to their current forms while others intermixed with the rising Human population.
  24. Story Friday August 18, 2017

The next page had Sirleck say "I only helped you because that ancient crazy Immortal was with you." My guess is that Sirleck believes that Pandora doesn't care what happens to Magus. But it doesn't matter really because Sirleck didn't do enough research (as in he didn't tell Magus) on Adrian Raven before sending vampires after him.
  25. NP Friday Aug 18 2017

I'm pretty certain the other Immortals would say they are older than recorded history by that logic. There's two possibilities for how Immortals came to be, they either were created by Magic, or maybe they were once mortal as well and ascended thousands of years before Human civilization started to rise. Either way, I think it would get way too complicated trying to figure it if there's any family trees among Immortals.
