  1. Old Characters Returning

And if Nanase is a month or so older than Tedd? It's certainly possible that Noriko and Mama Kitsune had discussions about Tedd after his birth so Mama Kitsune saw the rift forming. But I get the feeling that Mama Kitsune is the older sister (a couple years maybe) and so might have already been married. We also know next to nothing about Mr Kitsune aside from him not openly going against his wife in terms of disciplining their children. He may know what Mama Kitsune knows.
  2. Old Characters Returning

The seeds of that were sown almost 3 months ago (comic time). I wonder what will happen first, Akiko finding a doll that Nanase made for practice at home, or encountering Fox by accident?
  3. Old Characters Returning

I think everyone would agree that it'd be nice to have an update on how Hedge, Guineas and Vladia are doing.
  4. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Considering Vladia doesn't want to ever change forms again, she likely doesn't count.
  5. Things You Find Amusing

This was just brought to my attention by a friend whom I got reading EGS last year: Note the names over the kiss mark? I doubt Dan considered this when putting Grace and Tedd together, but it explains why they're relationship is soo good.
  6. Story Friday April 14, 2017

It's possible Elliot's affinity had already manifested, I mean he's innately good to the point where Edward comments that he must have been born wearing a scout's uniform. And he's had dreams of being a super hero since shortly after Painted Black, and it's been implied that he's wanted to be a super hero since at least his early teens maybe even earlier. Either Elliot had an affinity for something super hero themed, or, like Ashley, Elliot had goodness central to his core that the super hero spell was inevitable regardless of whether he awaken improperly or not.
  7. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=603 Ok, obvious changes: Grace get's shorter in panels 2 and 3, but she's still shorter in panel 4 than she was in panel 1. Sarah's shirt changes to a tank top. Not so obvious changes: Sarah's hairband changed colour: Grace's skirt in panel 4 seems larger than in panel 1, might be an optical illusion though. Grace seems to be flat chested in panel 3, though that might be a side affect of her being small enough that the shirt is too loose to show anything. Sarah's no longer wearing a skirt in panel 4.
  8. Things You Find Amusing

This, @hkmaly, is how one parodies The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
  9. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Ellen might be a much rarer rarity than seers are as the diamond had a specific purpose and is probably a one of a kind artifact. As far as everyone's concerned though, Ellen is human and is an awakened magic user, but being a duplicate of Elliot, she likely carries the same genetic traits as Elliot. Tara could tell there was a difference between Elliot and Ellen but apparently didn't know magical duplicates were possible or just didn't see anything that said Ellen was a magic clone. Tara, like Abraham, probably saw that Ellen's aura was 99% identical to Elliot's or something like that. Dan's commentary for the comic where Tara mentions Ellen's different potential said that Elliot probably had an opportunity to tell Tara not to do that, but it's very likely Elliot didn't. I don't think Elliot would have expected Tara to blurt out what she can sense from his sister and friends so why would be feel the need to say something ahead of time?
  10. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Yeah, I was the one that originally speculated it, but then Edward told Nanase that Susan is Mrs. Pompoms biological daughter so that seems to have killed that theory. I do still think there may be a reason we never saw Mr. Pompom's face beyond Susan blocking it out herself though. Ellen was created by magic, it would be odd if she didn't have as much if not more magical genes than Elliot.
  11. NP: Friday April 14, 2017

It helps that there's a staircase behind them.
  12. NP: Friday April 14, 2017

It's called headcanon. Though mainly to see people's reactions.
  13. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Yeah, but Elliot had magic potential even before the diamond. He was using illusions and the Tamashi Gekido move must have some magic component to it, so where did that come from? It makes sense if his ancestry too could be traced back to an elf. That kid that accused Greg of lying about ASMA could be someone with no elven ancestry, but that's not guaranteed either because Justin apparently didn't develop his magic as fast as Nanase or Elliot which leads me to believe that Justin's possible elven ancestry is thinner than Elliot's, and the kid's ancestry could be just as thin as Justin's if not thinner so it'd make sense for him to believe that the training wasn't working, maybe if he gave it a few more months. Sarah's ancestry might have started strong for a couple generations, but then thinned out considerably which could account for her affinity being difficult to detect.
  14. What Are You Ingesting?

::grabs mlooney's list:: There's gotta be a special place for this sort of thing....
  15. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Yeah, but if the lie about Elves not being able to have children goes back several immortal lifetimes and applies to all Immortals having told themselves that. Then is certainly more complication and Pandora can't really be to blame can she? If it was the decision of all Immortals to lie about it, then there would have been a reason to do so, maybe the same reason they agreed to stick to the "only guide and empower" rules, it wouldn't be breaking Immortal law to fall in love with a human and have an elf child, but if they believe that elves are sterile, and the elves are convinced they are as well...hmm that does sound like something that could easily backfire though, tell a person their sterile and they're probably more likely to go around having unprotected sex with others with the belief there'd be no consequences. How the heck would a lie like that have any benefit? That would imply that the other woman is Diane's biological mother which would still make Susan and Diane half sisters and would fit the reason why Diane was adopted, but Susan wouldn't be related to Adrian, just Diane. With Mr Pompoms being related to Adrian, then both Susan and Diane could be as well. Yeah, the only reasoning we got for Dan having a Griffin in that comic was "Griffins are Rad" where as in the case Grace looking like Susan, we have Dan flip-flopping on it inspiring some sort of convoluted plot twist. I consider both forms of teasing though, the griffin was more of a "say little and let the visual speak for itself" kind of tease which I'll admit, after "So a Date at the Mall" revealing that there was a reason for the griffin's (who we now know was Andrea) appearance, has me looking at anything that seems out of place as a potential foreshadowing. Then you have moments where Dan's like dances around the subject and whether or not it's relevant to anything to the point where you may think "Nah he's just messing with it" but one can't be so sure. Today's commentary starts with "I'm sure however that sentence ended wasn't at all important. " which is a blatant and intentional lie as there's just no way he could be vague about it. It's possible that Catalina had potential for magic due to her ancestry having had magic, but any chance for getting a natural affinity from them was overwritten when she was named at birth. Dan's stated that Name based affinities are affinities given at or soon after birth, so I'd say it's both, but again, it's difficult to find someone that has no magical ancestry to compare this to, it would seem like if Magic users are descended from Immortal/Fairy and Human interaction, then it's possible the entire human population is contaminated by now. Like I said before, Nanase's family could have maintain magical purity by marrying into other magically pure families. But we do know that royalty doesn't always stick to royalty and there've been kings that were known for having affairs with servants, and children resulting from that would carry on the magical bloodline through their offspring which would lead to even the lower classes developing magic users.
  16. What Are You Ingesting?

There's no salt in the "Lotsa Garlic" blend, the person does make a mediterranean sea salt blend that has, of course, sea salt, as well as garlic, dried sweet and hot peppers, lemon zest and other herbs, looking at the grinder the amount of sea salt might make up 10-15% of the blend, but it's something you'd use in place of just salt and pepper for most cooking.
  17. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Noriko said "Between my bloodline and Edward's..." so yes, Edward was mentioned. However, considering Tara's and Andrea's reactions to Nanase and the explaination of royalty in their half of the world having the strongest magic of all the humans, it would be easy to think that royalty in their half has a more direct ancestry to Ancients and hasn't mixed nearly as much with the rest of the human population as on the prime half. Noriko seems to hint that her bloodline might also have been kept more pure by only hooking up with other's whom have strong magical bloodlines which seems to be the case with Edward, but it does seem more obvious that there's been more mixing at least in the last few hundred years which would account for more people having affinities. I'm also going to put it out there that I'm wondering if the reason for more people having affinities isn't just being directly descended from Immortals and Humans having kids, but what if the act of marking someone also imprints them with a portion of an Immortal's being, not enough that if something were to happen to said Immortal that the people they've marked would die or something, but they're still carrying a bit of Immortal power that could get passed on to their offspring. This one is kinda hard to prove though as I don't know of a proper example. I originally thought Rhoda might be a candidate for someone who just yearned for the type of spell she got without having any prior connection to Magic, but considering her proficiency with magic in the "Escape from the Mall" NP, I'm thinking her bloodline already had strong ties to magic in the past and Pandora inadvertently reawakened it.
  18. What Are You Ingesting?

Having Campbells Cream of Mushroom soup, with an herb and "lotsa"* garlic blend added to it. Pretty darned good I think. Also had a cucumber and cheese sandwich. *The label actually does say "Lotsa Garlic" as there is a version of the blend with only half the amount of garlic, apparently there are some that think it's possible to have too much garlic. Anyway, there's a local person I know that makes her own seasoning blends and dip mixes and such and they aren't expensive either.
  19. Story Friday April 14, 2017

I didn't think that Andrea approaching Elliot at school was anything more than just a one time gag until Dan revealed there was more to it in "So a Date at the Mall". His commentary explaining why Grace looked like Susan flip flopped on whether or not there was more to it as well which sparked debates about Adrian possibly being Susan's dad in some convoluted way, my earlier post about it changed the theory such that they could be still related, but it's a more distant relation and based Adrian having been told it couldn't be possible and not being aware that he did in fact get someone pregnant at some point.
  20. Story Friday April 14, 2017

Seems like the Orbiting Uryuom was prepared this time, or just lucky he was having a break from what he usually does to listen to some tunes. I have a feeling this is going to play into the truth about Susan and Diane as well, if wizards, seers and people with affinities are descended from Elves. I always felt that there must have been a time when Elves were more common, though it certainly wouldn't be as if there was an entire Elven civilization. Now, this isn't to say that Adrian lied about not being able to have children, it's very possible Pandora once told him that, maybe because she once made it a point to convince herself that it wasn't possible, the question is, when did she? She'd have more reason to tell Adrian that he couldn't have kids after Blaike's death if she didn't want Adrian to have to deal with the pain of outliving any offspring which there's no guarantee that a 1/4 immortal would have the lifespan of a 1/2 immortal. It is still possible that as Adrian grew up, he might have knocked boots with a human or a few humans (not all at once dangit, one every few years or so) and got them pregnant without knowing it, one of those offspring could have had children of their own and eventually lead to Mr Pompoms who could have been Adrian's great great grandson and Adrian doesn't even know it.
  21. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=602 Well, with the question of continuity out of the way, there shouldn't be much speculation of Grace's abilities here, though I think Dan will try to stick with what he's established, or make it obvious that Grace can't actually do something. Being out of continuity does also give the potential to see Grace act out of character though, and Sarah's there and can also act out of character (or maybe it'd still be in character, MV5 certainly opened things up for her).
  22. NP: Wednesday April 12, 2017

In the Legend of Celida example, every aspect of it is a parody of Legend of Zelda, Celida being Zelda, Chain being Link, etc, while still vaguely comparing gameplay and story between the two games, Dan has Sarah and Susan talking about one game, but you know it's referring to another. It doesn't work the other way around, Dan can't have characters mention The Elder Scrolls, Ysolda and "Fus Roh Couch" in the same story and have us be like "Oh he's not really talking about Skyrim here"
  23. NP: Wednesday April 12, 2017

I think Tedd was more embarrassed about being undressed in a public place. I certainly agree that they don't have to have "gone all the way" but considering how comfortable Grace is about being naked, I can certainly see that aspect rubbing off on Tedd and him being comfortable being naked around Grace at home without it being sexualized. Of course seeing Sarah naked might still be cause for embarrassment. The "Grace the Goddess" NP was non canon sure, but Tedd and Grace were playing Black and White in "Shade Tail part 1" a canon story. The Elder Scrolls was directly mentioned in canon, which the character Ysolda being from Skyrim, as well as "Fus Roh Couch" being a direct play on "Fus Roh Dah", there's no denying that Skyrim is canon.
