Oh wow, did Pandora actually justify the marking of Felix because she's trans and Tedd would approve? Since this is in the past, it makes it hard to say how Tedd would have reacted if he found out. And also considering we know what happens later, this is just another example of Pandora convincing herself that what she's doing is for family.
  2. Story Friday March 3, 2017

That's right, Ellen would likely still be at Susan's (since her, Nanase and Justin spent the night there) when Elliot went over to Tedd's.
  3. Story Friday March 3, 2017

I think Diane is going to find out Ellen's origins one way or another in this story arc.
  4. Story Friday March 3, 2017

I had mainly assumed that the reason why we never saw the with books or backpacks was that they left them in their lockers until the 6 minute warning bell to get to class, so Ellen having her backpack but not coat would suggest she might have been to her locker already. Maybe she was soo nervous about talking to Diane that she wanted to be able to make a hasty retreat without having to stop at her locker? Then again, maybe Dan suddenly felt the same as you about how odd it was not having them with books and such while at school. Interestingly enough, Dan and I had the exact same issue back in high school. In my case though it wasn't a backpack being carried improperly, I had one of those portfolio style bags with the one shoulder strap, but I carried it the same way Dan did his when I should have had the strap over my head and resting on the opposite shoulder. That, along with sleeping on that side of my body contributed to my current shoulder problems, so whenever Dan tweets about his shoulder trying to kill him, I know he's not exaggerating. Everything that Ellen experienced was knowledge gained, and I consider even learning a language through instant contact like how Uryuoms do to be knowledge gain, not much different than the nose beep including a recorded message from Nioi.

I dunno, I think I'm with Swampy here, if he can go tip-toeing through the tulips and still not get hit, he can't be the one at fault.
  6. Story Friday March 3, 2017

Her ability to sing certainly carried over well, everything she experienced growing up in her second life was more vivid than anything she could remember from Elliot's past so I would think that languages would also carry over. Also, did Ellen forget her coat? I don't think I ever saw her still carrying her backpack around after putting her coat away. Seems odd that she still has the backpack.

It would have to be something that alter's the mind that creates zombies, similar to werewolves except obviously different forms.
  8. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

I don't think Tedd is completely unique. Someone like him could be 1 in 500 million or so which would mean he'd likely be the only one in North America. But there's also the possibility that there's is always someone like him, when one dies, another is born to take their place. If someone like Tedd is meant to insure that Magic doesn't completely become forgotten, then it would make sense that such a failsafe is continuous, rather than it come to a point where its like "you know, I think in 18 years I might have to reset magic, better crank out a couple seers"
  9. Story: Friday 24 Feb 2017

The other possibility is that the Will of Magic is the collective subconsciousness of all humans, every spell is fueled by the thoughts of the entire human population, the Will itself is essentially EGS's version of Coyote.
  10. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

Yeah, considering it was Arthur that made the public statement that magic was real, anyone else that might have knowledge of system changes might blame him.
  11. NP: Wednesday March 1, 2017

In the case of Tedd, it might work differently, like those flashes of light and the hyperness. But as Dan said if it feels like a slight chill, it might go unnoticed under many circumstances. Kitty was in one of those circumstances where she was seeing the enchantment take place the moment she said "POOF" and felt the chill so she could quickly put two and two together. When Catalina changed the first time, it does look like she felt something, but likely attributed it to Rhoda cuddles.
  12. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

Anything Noriko's done in the past several years could very well have been under contract with other organizations like the paranormal division, and if there's collaboration between the organizations then knowledge of Noriko's work would certainly be known throughout the organizations without the general public knowing.
  13. What Are You Ingesting?

2 packs of Mr Noodles, 1 beef and 1 chicken.
  14. EGS TvTropes pages

There's an easy solution to that. Make sure they have no medical insurance. That way they get to be homeless and traumatised so they will die fast without causing further trouble. A tried and true method used by governments through the ages. *sigh* That's more of a situation where a government is willing to spend the money to train soldiers into efficient killing machines, but not willing to spend the money to undo that programing. And yes, the unwillingness to do so would be because it would take much, much more time and money to undo the training and it's not guaranteed to work either.
  15. Things You Find Amusing

Well, yeah, we do like our Loonies. Also, Today's Grrl Power, amusing that a few pages ago Krona was annoyed about Sydney gushing over her abilities, now Krona's gushing over Sydney's orbs. Also this gives a bit of insight into how Tedd must have fell when he used his insight on his insight.

Interesting timbit (or tidbit for the non-canucks) of info in the commentary about there being a sensation felt when casting a spell. Also this is definitely the reaction I was thinking of when I commented in the previous strip that Dan didn't need to give us any heads up that "Felix" would like being transformed. Also, I'm pretty certain Dan named Felix that on purrrpose.
  17. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

What's unknown is how much knowledge an Immortal can carry over to their next life. It sounds like an Immortal can pick and choose the knowledge they feel will help them, so maybe most immortals might carry over some bit of knowledge in one reset but not the reset after that. I see a system change being a significant event so it would most certainly be carried over one reset, but what are the chances of it being considered significant enough to carry over a second reset? A third? A fourth? Pandora had almost completely forgotten about the system change, mind you having lived well passed her reset point it's not surprising, but even after 200 years it might be easily missed unless the Immortal vowed to carry that knowledge with them. Maybe the place she's going to is a type of library maintained by an Immortal that made such a vow to keep the extremely important knowledge from being forgotten. Maybe, though it certainly doesn't seem like Voltaire plans on making Tedd his first "gullible" target or else he wouldn't have revealed himself in front of them, so Tedd doesn't trust him. He certainly does seem to have some plan for Tedd though.
  18. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

Yeah, but I think her having a much clearer memoir of the last system change, having apparently only reset once since then as opposed to half a dozen times or more, gives her better insight into what happens after a system change and how it might have affected Immortals. Even if Immortals forgot that there was a Will of Magic that could change the system, Pandora at least had the experience of one to know that what Disco Wizard said had to be true. And she'll likely find out more when she gets to where she hopes to find info on what Tedd is.
  19. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

It could be just as simple as the idea that as long as two people don't make eye contact, someone that could be observing from a distance wouldn't know they were talking to each other. Of course that method doesn't work as well in a gym and they did end up making eye contact eventually... Count me as well, he does look like Justin to me. He looks close to the second stage of the MV5 to FV5 sequence. Then Pandora/Box is making a heavy assumption that she'll be able to help Sarah get magic if the system changes.
  20. Ashley told Liz about the internet girlfriend, so if it was Liz, she would have said something. Heck, Liz assumed Ashley was talking about a guy on the internet at first.

  22. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=583 Umm...ok? I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean it was obvious that Kitty would do something like this, but I feel like Dan might have rushed the design of her friend. It's gotta be the thought process of the friend, probably would have been easier to take if we didn't know ahead of time that he would have liked to be Kitty's pet cat girl until after she accidentally transformed him.
  23. Story: Friday 24 Feb 2017

Maybe we can stick with the computer model here: Now in the case of Magic, the hardware layer would be stuff like energy and processes needed for spells and such to function, the user layer and libraries are the spells and such that humans, Uryuoms, etc can use, and the kernel layer is the api for which the user layer interacts with the hardware layer. Now Uryoums not being affected by a system change suggests that for them, the user layer can directly interact with the hardware layer without much need for the kernel all the kernel is for, after all, is to offload a lot of the work needed to get software to use hardware which reduces the amount of code. For humans though, they rely on the kernel as the method of working with the hardware and any change in the kernel could affect how the software works and could even break it entirely much like how Window XP and later had checks in place to detect if someone attempts to install a windows 9x program software developers had adjusted to make similar checks which is why we went straight from windows 8 to windows 10 because windows 9 would potentially break everything.
  24. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

I wouldn't say they support a system change, I don't think Leifeld is aware that it's possible, he just wants the secrecy maintained and is questioning Arthur's method and Arthur is like "well it's either this, or the next time there's an incident, we won't have to worry about it for the rest of our lifetime." I do think Voltaire might be in favour of a system change though because such a change would mean people who lost the ability to use magic would likely be willing to do anything to get that back, which would be good for Voltaire because he had stated his frustration in finding people gullible enough to guide and empower.
  25. Story Wednesday March 1, 2017

Uryuoms would likely be able to help against outside forces. For vampires...if it's magic that's powering the vampirism, then what Edward said to Grace would be true and all vampires would dye off. As far as magic being unable to hide from tech, Noah kinda had the right idea by causing interference to cameras and cellphones, though some stuff still got through and the note he left police certainly didn't help. I don't think Arthur wants a reset to happen and wants to try to prevent it from happening, but he does seem to have accepted that the possibility for it happening is there and probably is thinking "if it does happen, at least it won't be my problem anymore"
