Maybe, I dunno. Though I'm not sure that being born with an affinity means it's hereditary either, I mean yeah there's hereditary bloodlines where an affinity would pass along generations, but there might also be cases where affinities could be randomly given to someone at conception or birth. In the case of Name Based Affinity vs Hereditary Affinity, I think Tiffany Susan Pompoms dodged a pretty big bullet there.

Do we push the idea that Rhoda has yet another spell that she didn't know about? Although the thought of Pandora marking Kitty and Kitty immediately casting the spell and making Rhoda and Catalina think Rhoda did it seems amusing enough to be likely.
  3. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

The third panel with Pandora saying "Waaait, this affinity isn't-" seems to suggest that she took a closer look at the affinity and what she thought might have been a very strong yearning ended up not being the case.
  4. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

Possible, like the Bobcat name could have originated with the family at some point in their history learning about their ability to use cat forms, maybe they were from a druidic order or something. Kitty's family might also have a similar history. Gonna have to disagree, saying something won't usually do something doesn't mean that it absolutely won't. It leaves it open to being possible, just at a low chance. It's also possible that if Kitty's last name wasn't cat themed, that doesn't necessarily mean her mother's maiden name isn't cat themed.
  5. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

Well, yeah, Dan named her Kitty because he made her really like cat girls. But as for her actually backstory, why would her parents have named her Kitty? Is her last name also cat themed like Catalina Bobcat's? Pandora had said that "just a first or last name usually won't" mean automatic affinity, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

I got dibs on a scarf if one appears! /me looks around What? It's cold in Canada, and I don't recall any of the doctors wearing toques.
  7. He also tweeted about it with a screenshot of the tumblr post.
  8. I would figure that if that's what he meant, he should have been clear about it. The whole "reality unto itself" bit certainly doesn't sound like it would have had help from a magic user to transform it, it sounded more like it's default form would have been changed which isn't an enchantment. Nanase's avatar was said to be breaking the laws of physics, which was rebutted with "we consider them polite suggestions", so it could still have been within the universe's laws. Immoral, yes, but there's something about the fact that aberrations have to take the blood of humans to sustain their immortality or possess hosts that makes it unnatural. Heck I'd categorize the immortality bit on breaking the universe's laws, aberrations are essentially cheating their own deaths by killing others.
  9. I dunno, Adrian said that "spicy" would have made him rethink their plan, which was to have Grace convince the boar to let Adrian disenchant him, so I would say that in order to make him rethink that plan, the boar would have to have become such that saving it would no longer be possible. Of course it still turned out that it wasn't possible, but only because the boar didn't want to be disenchanted and was willing to defend himself against anyone and anything. Also Adrian said that "sweet" mean that boar's growth was in defiance of the square-cube law, and as such was referring to the enchantment placed on it. his description of "spicy" suggested that the boar itself was in defiance, which would mean that somehow the boar itself might have grown that much without assistance from a magic user. It's not enchantments that would be "spicy", "spicy" would mean corrupted, tainted, or warped in an unnatural way. Aberrations are corrupted beings who've twisted their physical forms permanently and are sustained by unnatural methods. A corrupted boar would be beyond feral, it wouldn't be satisfied by just rooting around in the dirt for food, it'd would attack and feed on likely anything that moved. No, Not_Tengu wasn't an aberration, and as I said before "sweet" magic could still be harmful if abused by jerks.
  10. I know I didn't word anything wrong here. I wasn't assuming anyone's magic levels here, just saying that their magic would be examples of "sweet" and that it's the type of magic that allows for size manipulation, morphs and summoning fairies/hammers. Basically any kind of magic that doesn't necessarily have to be harmful, of course it could be abused in harmful ways by jerks, hence the "might be good or bad" comment. What I was trying to say about "spicy" is that it would be the opposite of "sweet" in that it's magic that's strictly intended to do harm to others for the caster's gain (ie, aberrations being able to feed on others to become immortal). Adrian's comment about if the boar was breaking laws would probably refer to it being corrupted by "spicy" magic into something unnatural. Basically, in the case of what happened to the boar, "sweet" just meant that it was still a boar, just a bigger boar. "Spicy" would have not only made it bigger, but probably made it some demon boar from hell, like maybe this:
  11. The Weather.

We've got freezing rain warnings here in Southwestern Ontario as well, but so far it seems to be just rain. I don't think we've had anything close to the ice storm of 1998
  12. Adrian said that "sweet" could be good or bad but seems to relate to most magic in general, for example Nanase, Ellen, Elliot and Susan would likely give off a "sweet" sense with their magic. "Spicy" described what could happen if the boar was "in such defiance of the universe's laws that it had effectively become a reality unto itself" and might be associated with darker subjects like aberrations.

I'd say they look more like jeans. That could make wizards potentially more powerful than those born with the ability to get their own spells. Nanase has been shown to have an impressive arsenal of spells, but if her aunt Noriko can mix and match all the spells she learns...
  14. NP, Friday January 13, 2017

Well, Nature doing the hummingbird waving and Nurture doing the dragging. As far as Susan herself doing it, we have this instance. Not sure how what we can call this though.
  15. Story Friday January 13, 2017

While you are likely joking there, I meant more that he didn't get killed and was able to continue his work and seen a lot of progress and was at least satisfied with the direction it was going before he passed naturally.
  16. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

Ok, I could have worded that better. Is she targeting herself when she grew taller? She had her hands down with palms facing forward when she went to cast the spell. There are many examples of a spell being both target self and other, Ellen's beam can obviously be directed at herself, Tedd's mark spell is self by just willing it and others by touch. Rhoda's could be self by willing, and others by a short range invisible beam and Catalina's might be any of those. I'm not 100% certain that a spell would have that specific type of contact required to cast. Though I'm not sure if spell crafting exists in EGS beyond Tedd's magitech programming so maybe it's possible to make an enchantment that's applied by kissing? Though as it is, I'm inclined to think that an enchantment applied by touch doesn't have to be done strictly by hand.
  17. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

I didn't say it would have to be the same spell with an extension, just that she could potentially do it, which could be either by an extension of her current spell, or a new spell. There is also the fact that Dan teased that she could be able to when he posted the Catgirl Rhoda pinup. Heck, it's possible that Catalina spell isn't self only, and that the spell can already target self and others, just like Rhoda's mark spell could resize others and, while we didn't actually see it, likely resize herself, just not with the precision that we saw her do in the dressing room.
  18. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

That's what I said, just added that Catalina could potentially transform others after awakening.
  19. Story Monday January 16, 2017

That was in reference to when Elliot was first zapped and had to go to school as "Ellen" before the diamond. Or is that what you meant?
  20. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Pandora meant to include the fact that any men would become cat girls rather than cat boys, when hit by the spell. In contrast, Catalina's cat spell could potentially turn men into cat boys. As for whether she marks Kitty, I guess it depends on if she refuses to mark another name based affinity out of principle or not.
  21. Story Monday January 16, 2017

I imagine if there was a discussion about separate rooms, Ellen likely wouldn't have wanted Elliot to give up the room he had spent the last 17 years in to someone essentially a few days old (this would assume such a discussion happened shortly after Ellen's creation) And Elliot would believe that Ellen has just as much right to the room as he does and wouldn't let her give it up to him. As for what happens when they go to college? Either they continue to live at home if the college is close enough, or I would imagine they would rent an apartment together, personally I would love it if the Main 8 all pitched in for a place to share, Tedd and Grace could obviously share a room, Ellen and Nanase would share another, that would leave Elliot, Justin, Sarah and Susan.
  22. NP, Friday January 13, 2017

And there was Justin as well that I just remembered, though does it still count if it's a representation of a character's thoughts doing it?
  23. NP, Friday January 13, 2017

She's only done a half-hummingbird wave that I can recall, is that enough to be on the list, or would she need to have gone full hummingbird?
  24. Story Friday January 13, 2017

Oh, carp, yeah Dr Scuiridae is African-American....I had just woken up when I made that post and all I was thinking of in terms of Grace was her being part squirrel....
  25. Story Monday January 16, 2017

I don't think Ellen could care less if she, or Elliot, saw anything, Ellen has Elliot's memories and knows exactly what he looks like, Elliot also knows what Ellen looks like because his default female form is Ellen, but Elliot insists that "it's the principle of the matter". Ellen's probably got her back turned as well just out of respect for Elliot not wanting to feel awkward with her seeing him get dressed.
