Is that why people in the US midwest turned to cow tipping instead?
-
No it does not. I see "rarity" in terms of depth of time not breadth of people. Both of Tedd's parents thought he was without magical ability. That's not speculation. OK so Ed Verres doesn't get memos from the Will of Magic and Disco Wizard does. Verres probably does know that magic has changed rules even if he doesn't realize it is liable to do so now. Moreover, I'd expect both Noriko's and Verres' families to keep very good notes on the behavior and properties of magic. Their notes may not go back further than the previous rules shift but that's still a long time. We have no information on anybody else with Tedd's ability. There is no way to know how they handled it therefore no way to tell how active Tedd is by comparison. Adrian Raven doesn't seem to have any particular knack for prediction. In fact considering his blunders with Ed Verres and Noriko, prediction seems a weak point with Raven, not a strength.

Having people like Tedd born now and then does seem the way to bet, but how often? For Tedd to be a dangerous rarity people with his ability can't be born all that often. Neither Ed Verres nor Noriko recognized Tedd for what he was and they were from magical dynasties going back hundreds or thousands of years. That suggests Tedd's ability does not turn up regularly and that the space whales are either really knowledgeable, really old, or both. As a nitpick, I'd argue that Pandora herself is rather predictable. Being able to predict the actions of others doesn't necessarily make me (or Pandora in this case) less predictable, despite her chosen middle name of "Chaos".

I wonder about this. Tedd was conceived well before any of Pandora's known machinations. Was the Will of Magic already getting annoyed with the status quo? If not, how could the Will of Magic know what was going to happen in the future and set up Tedd so far in advance that he'd be good to go at the point of a possible rules change? Can the Will of Magic do things that spellcasters can't do? We know time travel is impossible (for people), which says mass and energy can't go back in time and implies consciousness can't either. ...Which should mean that the Will of Magic can't time-travel either. Can the Will of Magic beak the time travel restriction? Can information travel backward in time? Precognition is by definition information traveling backward in time. Is the Will of Magic running some huge. complex simulation of the world that predicted the likelihood of a rules change before the need ever manifested?

I just finished Netflix' "7 Deadly Sins." It wasn't bad, wasn't great. The sort of thing I watch once, liked enough to watch season 2 if they do one, liked enough to pay some attention to if it's on someone else's screen, but don't feel the need to own a copy on disk or watch it through a second time.

All we need is the classic "hallway with doors" scene and have Rhoda, Catalina, the mob and Kitty running randomly in and out of them without regard for logic...

I am starting to think we will have a "...And I will name them George and I will hug them and pet them and squeeze them..." scenario happening.

Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

I tend to agree. If policing there must be, I'd much prefer a law that allows or proscribes behavior. That would mean someone who is being polite and keeping to themselves is protected. If someone else throws open the bathroom stall door acting as some self-appointed bathroom police, I'd rather they be the ones charged with the crime, even if the individual in the stall is using the "wrong" bathroom. -

Even if the bill is made state law, it is a temporary thing. It's an attempt to hold back the tide which will fail in the end. In this case expect it to end in a Supreme Court decision against. Moreover, people are fair-minded as a rule. Something that intentionally calls out and censures a group without some practical reason behind it is not something to bet the farm on. I'd caution against attempting to penalize Texas too soon. Expend your arsenal before the bill becomes law, and the people trying to pass the law have nothing left to lose. What concerns me most is how this bill could possibly be enforced. It represents a huge incursion into personal privacy to answer a non-existent problem. -
At the moment, if Tedd threw the watch at Pandora, it would go right through her. Note that Tedd is a bit grayed out. She's on the "spiritual plane" looking at him, but she is not visible to him, unless his ability lets him see/sense her as he did the space whales...

Without using it, yes. I didn't think too hard about it beyond the idea of Susan waking up in a bed full of hammers. Now that you mention it though, "Teddy Hammer" had a bit of a ring t it... -

Or all look up simultanelujsly at mom and hiss menacingly. Or more likely, this being EGS, all fly over to give mom a hug. Hey just because the conscious mind is asleep doesn't mean the subconscious part running the dolls is. -

This pinup seems to have found a following, at least judging by the number of likes on Patreon and Dan's comment on them. Doesn't do much for me though. Just one more way I'm weird. -
I work at a tech company that sells products to consumers and we're building a specialized pool of testing PCs that ideally should look like a subset of what our customers are using. I have a spreadsheet of raw customer hardware data to work from. It's just what hardware customers use and how many. I decided to ask Marketing for help deciding what systems to buy/build and CCed my manager on my query e-mail. My manager actually asked me what help I expected from them...
