And the T54/55/62 series of tanks didn't have the ammo in "safe" storage like a western tank does/, just wasn't all piled up in the turret.

I don't think this is going to be the case. Other than 2nd Life Tedd, we haven't seen a direct AU version of an cast member. Yeah, Magus was sorta an AU Elliot/Ellen and Tara might be an AU Tedd, but even those weren't direct copies.
