  1. Story Friday May 18, 2018

... wait. Could she be angry at him BECAUSE he made her angry at Tedd?
  2. Story Friday May 18, 2018

Also, there is that bit that if she wanted to be male Tedd could easily help. I suspect she wanted to punch him, although I'm not entirely sure why would she think he owes that to her. Or why would she think after the fight with golem that it would be good idea to do that.
  3. Story Friday May 18, 2018

Realistically speaking, he shouldn't be able to hear her over the whoosh, but ... yes.
  4. Story Friday May 18, 2018

So, he did wanted to TRY, but when another door apparently appeared inside he decided not to. However, he WOULD have opportunity to cast spell on her. Now, we could assume that he wanted to at least quickly ask. Or maybe that spell is short-range. And yes, this is totally the same case as with Tedd. Sure, he doesn't have the advantage of it being mistakes, but still, is Ellen that angry at someone causing her existence? ... well, she is. As she shown with Tedd. Emotions are not logical, after all. Hmmm ... not sure about the awkwardness, but I think for Ashley, this date trumps the griffin one in how confusing it is.
  5. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

Star Trek was pretty clearly inspired by a Fifties movie, Forbidden Planet, where a ship the size of the Enterprise does land on a planet. It only had to land on one planet. It's not (just) about size, it's about shape. Nope. He's meant to be Darth Vader, the bad guy who turns away from the Dark Side Right. General Shade Tail will be the final boss.
  6. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

I don't think Arthur J. Arthur is qualified for field work. I consider Agent Wolf and Agent Cranium most likely - as in, from the ones we know, the most qualified field operatives. Commander Jaguar and Specialist Steve seems better suited to deal with non-magic adversaries, although maybe they can arrive too. Of course, it could also be someone we don't know. Or ... Noriko. I find very unlikely that the alarm is alerting Lord Tedd, so I don't expect Nioi or General Shade Tail. (Lord Tedd himself will DEFINITELY not show.) Enterprise itself (meaning, constitution, excelsior, ambassador, galaxy or sovereign class starship) can NEVER land on planet without needing severe repairs afterwards. Voyager was exception in this regard. The issue wasn't special effect to shown landing of Enterprise, but landing of a shuttle and the fact they were not able to get a model soon enough - they later get one for sixteenth episode. But Dan keeps going back to Lord Tedd and Ellen's Second Life, so either he's got something worked out now and is just waiting for the opportunity to get to it, or he's stubbornly hoping that if he continues to reference it, it'll help with the brainstorming. Dan never said he DOESN'T have Lord Tedd in plan. What he said that he shown him too soon. He's probably supposed to be some sort of final boss. And looking at how the stuff starting with Lord Tedd is keeping referenced, I don't think he could be removed completely. I suppose that what Dan meant was basically leaving both the Goo and Nioi "hanging" in air and only later admitting they are connected and bring Lord Tedd into picture. After all, look at Andrea. I think people would accept Nioi appearing out of thin air, making the nose-beep and only being explained later. ... it's also possible if Dan would really exclude Lord Tedd he would be regretting it now.
  7. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=769 I'm not sure if tensaided is the kind of nerd preferring pony to minotaur. George, that would be another question ... Also, I suspect the result is less like minotaur than he imagined. On a related note, I'm not sure what I would choose from the available options ; and the idea to motivate it sexually doesn't help much. Not because I would be also close to asexual, but because I would prefer to see attractive forms on OTHERS - and they already ARE there, so I'm not that much motivated to choose form I want to see and then go search for mirror. And, the base thing I would be sexually motivated to try - being girl - would be sideefect of ANY option. (I'm sure what I would like to try which was NOT on list: wings.)
  8. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

Yes. Now, question is if Arthur can deal with using so useful agent on something with this low priority.
  9. NP Wednesday, May 16, 2018

Wrong meat. Right. Everyone knows that cows don't fly, you need different animal ...
  10. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

Yeah, the situation has just changed from "I don't have much time" to "I have NO time." DGB agents equipped and ready for serious magical trouble will be stepping through those doors literally any second now, if Magus is still in line of sight when they do he's risking capture. They PROBABLY won't be coming out throwing spells ... but Magus doesn't know that. His experience with DGB includes this. His most logical course of action now is not even looking which window he flew from. Trying to cast relatively complex spell on someone who may or may not be looking from that window, while maintaining maximal escape speed, doesn't sound like good idea.
  11. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

I don't think those two are qualified to at least carry the bags of team which should be solving this. Hardly empty. A place like that would sport a 24-hour guard detail always ready to respond. Also, I highly doubt such a place would exist solely for the benefit of a decoy storehouse. It would more likely be linked to several similar value sites and so economise with the involved forces. However, the question if the usual team will respond or if Arthur managed to warn them and now special team is being ready - and if it IS already ready - remains. I think he's in SO big rush he won't even zap Ellen. Dan is not good in being evil and his scale might be skewed. Even short talk with Ellen is likely to mean Magus would not zap her, but if the talk would change the zapping, I think Dan would say it differently. Or maybe not, because he seems to work hard on being vague ... Very unlikely. Also, not particularly interesting. Compared to her now being part dragon especially.
  12. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

I'm rather afraid that they will try to return Kevin to storage. They may not consider him safe to have running (or floating) loose. Or maybe they just want to keep public irritation levels down. It would be expected reaction from DGB and possibly even from Ashley. But story-wise, I suspect she somehow ends with him long-term, so I wonder how ...
  13. NP Monday May 14, 2018

He knows Grace, but does he know Grace is a shapeshifter? I don't remember him discovering that, and I don't have time to trawl half the archive to find out tonight. :-( In canon continuity he obviously doesn't know, so the question would be about GENERAL shapeshifter and only we know that Grace would fit that role. Out of continuity, however ... isn't it him here? He MIGHT noticed some of Grace's experiments with change blindness ...
  14. Story Wednesday May 16, 2018

Probably. Although in current situation, Arthur is probably glad someone activated the alarm and allowed the doors to be formed, if, as Dan implies, it wouldn't be possible otherwise ... (Before reading the comment, I also considered the possibility the doors will be formed but noone arrives as the usual team would be declared not good enough and Arthur would still be preparing better team ...) Well, so far Arthur doesn't have any reason to assume he will need hostages to ensure Tedd's cooperation, so ... nothing? It's not like they tried to steal anything, the uteronc is only artifact which left the building and it's obviously still there ... and they are registered and Edward can vouch for them saying truth ... I do, however, wonder how will Ashley manage to smuggle Kevin out (or would it be how Kevin manage to smuggle himself out with Ashley's unintentional help?). Maybe they would focus too much on the possibility of other dangerous artifacts activating?
  15. Story Monday May 14, 2018

Still. It would have to be an insanely sensitive device to determine it with that kind of certainty so fast. I am with Dr. Bashir, I must admit. I would normally be with Dr. Bashir too. But ... considering McCoy also have a pill capable of regenerating kidney in likely around 10 minutes, just randomly in pocket ... I wonder if he didn't steal better-than-23th-century-federation technology somewhere. Or maybe got some god-like powers like Gary Mitchell.
  16. Story Monday May 14, 2018

I believe that the original "He's dead, Jim" was an attempt at humour. To wit, a comment on the absurdity of Dr. McCoy declaring a person dead after a cursory inspection that does not even involve use of a med scanner. Your own post indicates how difficult this can be even for forensic specialists with a lot of time yet McCoy did this all the time. He was TYPICALLY doing it after using his medical tricorder to check, at least according to this list. But ... it's not what the trope is associated with (tvtropes link warning). And Dr. Bashir doesn't consider tricorder to be reliable at this ...
  17. Story Monday May 14, 2018

That was in fact part of what I counted. Cessation of breath and pulse may usually be considered a reliable indicator of death. As to detection of blood circulation, well, a pulse is usually a requirement for it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazarus_syndrome https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/nov/14/waking-morgue-death-janina-kolkiewicz https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspended_animation And that's for PEOPLE, who are warm-blooded mammals and also the same species as the one checking the pulse. For biological enemy of unknown species, checking if breath and pulse really ceased might be very hard. Also, checking breath and pulse can rarely be reliably done at distance, which in the "make sure it's unable to continue fighting" situation is quite important. You're dead, Jim
  18. Story Wednesday May 9, 2018

Well, if they were mostly cotton it is possible that he could have been cleaned up by a swarm of ravenous killer moths. Cotton is biodegradable. Polyester is not.
  19. Story Monday May 14, 2018

When they really were in fight, there sort of wasn't time for calling Edward. Now, sure, they might want to call Edward now, but they already know Magus doesn't want to be their enemy and it might be better to talk with him before Edward to not cause any misunderstanding. (And, obviously, there is question if they have their phones.) Now, remember that the panels with Arthur were flashback, possibly hour or more back. Edward might've already be informed about the magic reset problem and his answer to that first couple of sentences would be "get the hell out of there". Probably not that much worse ; seems that the urteronc would used up the power quickly anyway and durability alone is not good long term fight strategy ... Not if Magus destroyed the memory ... however, maybe it was not ONLY urteronc left? Another urteronc operational would be another reason why to bring that history up ... I suspect that Battle Mage training doesn't cover the topic of sentience in any detail ; however, he IS likely to deal differently with other humans. (Dragons themselves might be sentient. I'm sure he's trained to doubletap THEM.) Neither is true for biological enemy. Unless you count stuff like blood circulation, which you probably wouldn't be able to detect, not moving doesn't mean dead. If it's mostly hollow with fragile looking parts connected by cables inside, you disconnect the cables, then put the bigger most fragile looking parts with most cables from them into those separate containers. There is big chance one of them would be power source and another CPU. If, however, it looks mostly homogeneous, including the parts which were moving, even putting into more containers is unlikely to help and you should try to ensure chemical change of the material (burn it to ashes ... with fluor if oxygen doesn't work). The usage is not exactly correct, but you can see the idea from the tvtropes page ; sounds quite likely Magus will do such mistake, after all, how did he learned English? (Unless English is his native language due to alternative universes using same languages ... in that case, yes, he should know better as he was likely TAUGHT this.)
  20. NP Monday May 14, 2018

While from some point of view you can say Tiffany is the good twin and Susan the evil one, the implications are rather unfortunate. Of course, Tensaided doesn't know it, but Diane could easily do this in canon with simple hair dye (which she can get from Susan) ... and Grace can do it whenever she wants to, and whoever gets hand on Susan's form (as watches or TF gun) too. We already addressed the evil twin hypothesis, now the mind control is sort of true although reached by magic and not technology ... ... although I'm surprised he didn't included the Polywater intoxication in his list, which would also be sort of true.
  21. Story Wednesday May 9, 2018

For the most part. We are still finding remains that have been left thousands of years ago. True. Also, it's possible his clothes were not biodegradable.
  22. Story Wednesday May 9, 2018

Agreed. Still, it's a little disappointing that whoever did this didn't at least deposit the corpse in a dumpster. Ah well, maybe they were in a hurry. At least human body is biodegradable. Do I understand correctly they were asking if anyone of LOCAL people (who are very unlikely to be anywhere near) saw anything?
  23. Story Wednesday May 9, 2018

Nope. Nope. Nope. It was an otherdimensional doppelganger who had escaped from some sort of prison for supercriminals. Assuming the trial was fair, that would be another pretty good argument for her being evil. Clear complete retcon is acceptable. Or, for bonus points, just creating alternate universes. Problems with Marvel (and DC) is that they are doing PARTIAL retcons. They even did the alternate universes thing and then COLLAPSED them just so they can say "that version of hero you really liked is totally dead so you MUST watch the new one". Result is that the reboots makes number of contradictions and inconsistencies HIGHER and not smaller. Also, if they really tried, they wouldn't have so many contradictions and inconsistencies to start with. Sure, change of author can cause some inconsistencies even if he tries to not make any, but how it works in Marvel doesn't look like the authors are trying. Case in point, Excalibur, the parts I quoted from wikipedia. "Unknown person, possibly a player of Magical Gatherings, took a Mulligan. Case closed." Seriously, I do think they work on it, but they have to prioritise. Admittedly littering is against the law, but there could be more important work drawing on their time. Yes, I would think that littering is more important than catching the one who killed this human garbage.
  24. Story Wednesday May 9, 2018

If the double was true copy and not different version with different character, it might qualify as suicide. It was Excalibur, which was one of the many, many offshoots of the X-Men. And I agree. Claremont alone was infamous for leaving plot threads dangling, I really doubt this one was the worst. It just happens to be the one I personally resent the most. Possibly because it is such a splendid example of Women in Refrigerators. Hmmm ... Claremont left with Excalibur #34 (1991) ... In a jarring transition, Captain Britain was lost off-panel ... Revisions made under Warren Ellis included reverting Britannic back to Captain Britain ... I don't think Claremont was only one responsible for state of Excalibur. He may be (in)famous for leaving plot threads dangling, but I still think most of the mess around X-Men is management decision.
  25. Story Wednesday May 9, 2018

Or, perhaps Grace has gotten counseling, but it was "off-camera"....might explain how well-adjusted she is about certain things, and/or her insights into how others feel and what sort of support they need.... She DEFINITELY didn't get any before hammerchlorians. Also this. There are some things which are unbelievable to not happen even in absence of in-story mention, there are others which we can believe happened, but Grace getting counselling is NOT one of them. That REALLY requires being mentioned. Although I would be satisfied if someone would note how hard is getting counsellor with hight enough clearance, to prove they TRIED. Did Chris Claremont forget or the evil double? And was she really evil? Anyway, I'm sure it wasn't most confusing thing happening in X-Men (it WAS X-Men, right?). There were whole forgotten UNIVERSES.
