  1. Story Monday Sep 11 2017

Well ... I meant little deeper knowledge. Would she RECOGNIZE the nitpicks? If it would be only sci-fi she knows, she would be at disadvantage. If it's driving someone crazy it must go on wiki.
  2. Story Friday September 8, 2017

That was before Pandora tried to save it. Sure, she wasn't exactly defending magic, but Tedd feels much better now. He didn't yet?
  3. Story Monday Sep 11 2017

... that could be dangerous omission. Of course, he already forgot once ... They also reset improperly. Might be overdoing it. Justin could have told Susan all about how Diane treated him and her behaviour in school, but he didn't want to taint their meeting. He's Susan's friend so of course he doesn't have any desire to sabotage the meeting. I'm also really hoping that Diane has realized at some point how she treated Justin and apologizes to him. THAT one might've still be that he just wanted Diane to crash it herself. THIS one is convincing me he really wants to help. Marathon time, perhaps? Diane has on occasion made attempts to hide the fact that she's interested in geeky stuff, but would she put up that facade in front of Susan? Yes, it would only be chance for bonding if Diane would be willing to do the marathon. And while Diane has her geeky moments, I think they are more related to fantasy, not sci-fi. Is there any fantasy we know Susan knows?
  4. Story Monday Sep 11 2017

Hmmm ... I don't have personal experience with the timing but let's google ... this seems good. DS9’s Defiant showed up in the third season premiere, on September 26th, 1994. The White Star class showed up (as far as I can tell from the wiki and the bullet) in the B5 third season premiere a year later on November 6th, 1995. I would agree that the competition was incentive for both shows to get better. I think the stealing of ideas was in both direction, though. I can't fully agree with this. At least part of the blame for Voyager goes definitely to Brannon Braga.

Or cold shower. ... she can't turn it off even when she would prefer to, yes ... Am I mistaken to think that Susan's admission that she wished she could be more attracted to Catalina means that she is attracted to her. I kinda wonder if it's likely her anxiety over physical contact that might be preventing Susan from acting on her attractions. Well ... Nanase wished she would be attracted to Elliot. This might be something similar, although it sounds more seriously ... ... and her anxiety over physical contact definitely limits Susan, although I think if/when she would get over it she would go after Elliot, not Catalina. (Well ... not counting the "already taken" issue, but that's valid for both.) Considering how well Catalina was hiding it from SUSAN specifically, I would say she knows, yes.
  6. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Nah, that fight must have gotten people's attention - ... ok, maybe. Sirleck of course doesn't know about Noah, but that's not important - the dark alley tactic might be missed by Helena and Demetrius even if Adrian would really be their son, so yes for Sirleck is important to cause commotion. Meanwhile, Voltaire's main target is PANDORA and the commotion SHE will make. I don't think that would be limited to that hypothetical dark alley.
  7. Story Monday Sep 11 2017

Might be. Definitely looks similar. When you're dealing with a police state, an investigative reporter is either imprisoned or killed or is a sock puppet for the state. Sisko didn't even realize he was a sock puppet. So you agree that he was bad reporter? (Yes, all good reporters in totalitarian police state are in prison. Or graveyard.) Which is amazing considering his low opinion of her. The first two seasons were definitely low quality. I think it started to get better with Defiant and really went better with season four, however I'm not sure if it's due to Worf ; I consider more important that in The Way of the Warrior, the station is ACTUALLY ARMED, so Sisko is not limited to bluffing. The battle is in sharp contrast with say episode 3 in second season, where Sisko must be hiding because of three Bajoran scout ships.

You mean that it would become like Yu-Gi-Oh? Didn't Yu-Gi-Oh cards actually summon the monsters? Or was that only in movie?
  9. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Yes, I was already answering that. In short, Voltaire might be manipulating Arthur Arthur indirectly (or trying to), but Arthur Arthur definitely doesn't know him. He is unlikely to do something which could reveal him, ESPECIALLY when everything goes almost exactly as he wants anyway. How much commotion vampires cause before getting to Adrian is not important for his plan: the fight with Adrian will be visible enough anyway. Remember that Voltaire is frustrated how hard is for him to influence anyone. Sure he would like to control Arthur Arthur, but if he would be able to do that, there would be no reason for him to be frustrated. Also, he wouldn't need to spend time on griffin. Any influence Voltaire might have on Arthur Arthur must be very indirect. That said, I can totally imagine that Arthur Arthur based his strategy on incomplete informations about magic reset VOLTAIRE edited and made sure he'll get. (Possibly before he was replaced by Edward: Imagine how Voltaire must've felt when the person he misinformed didn't acted on this misinformation and was replaced ... but maybe not ; maybe he NEEDED to wait before Tedd is in "right" state of mind before triggering the reset).
  10. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Voltaire - and Arthur Arthur. I don't think either helped Sirleck with the instructions, though. No, the destruction is to attract Helena and Demetrius.
  11. Story Friday September 8, 2017

If Adrian had an obsession with killing vampires something like his mother's obsession with exterminating werewolves, it occurs to me that he might have passed it on to Noriko, who seems to be able to summon magic swords at will. That's likely what she spends a lot of her time doing in Europe, if she really is in Europe: killing vampires. I don't think it was obsession. He might still talk about it in way which made it obsession for Noriko. Yes, like in the climax of Painted Black. But the fairy Nanase didn't bring the cavalry back until after the battle was over. And unlike Susan, Nanase's real body is helpless while she's using her fairy, and she only has one. Both Susan and Nanase would be better off using their phones if they can. Susan can only create the fairies around her, though. So yes, they both should be using phones, it would be safer - and it's not like using fairy could bring the allies in faster.
  12. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Yes, and they have them FIRST - Allies only reacted. And although Enigma had some cryptographic weaknesses, in practice it was German procedural flaws, operator mistakes, failure to systematically introduce changes in encipherment procedures, and Allied capture of key tables and hardware that, during the war, enabled Allied cryptologists to succeed and "turned the tide" in the Allies' favor.[7][8] (Yes, that is copied directly from wikipedia.) Still, British had Alan Turing and some other cryptoanalytics, build machines capable of cracking the messages almost automatically and near the end of war were able to decipher almost everything.
  13. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Susan doesn't have that original kit anymore, she had to make her own, and the closest thing to a mace in that kit is a baseball bat. Actually, she does have a crowbar, that probably the most powerful weapon she has. The idea was that Helena and Demetrius, immortals with hundreds of years experience fighting aberrations, though that mace is good weapon against them. And imagine how well it would work if the attacked submarine wouldn't get echo they are vectoring on it ... encryption which the enemy didn't hacked was key part of this plan. Depends from which distance they would start making destruction. Yes, it is indeed possible they will start so far away they will get EVERYONE there. However, it would definitely be something Magus wouldn't plan ... Note: bitting vampire's head sounds risky. I think that stepping on it would be better. Also, they don't disappear after first hit like Susan's weapons. Vampires would be fair game even if they wouldn't attack him, and they would. He can act if the situation involves magic or is an immediate threat to himself or others. And Pandora would need to be very senile if she wouldn't teach her son something supereffective against vampires. Quite possibly he has even BETTER spell than the crows. It wouldn't surprise me if Adrian would spent years fighting with vampires, that with his desire for protecting ... in fact, I'm surprised he didn't noticed any around yet.
  14. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Why? As far as we know, Susan doesn't even know Adrian is Grace and Ellen's history teacher. Given that, the only way she'd unleash her powers to help Adrian is if someone else asked her or if he saw Adrian being attacked. Even Diane doesn't know that Mr. Raven is anything more than a cranky, tough old teacher. Grace and Elliot can fly quickly to wherever. Susan can't unless she's got a spell we haven't heard of yet. The only likely way I presently see of Susan intervening in the attack on Adrian in time to do any good is if Adrian is also in the mall tonight. There is lot of things characters are telling each other without us knowing. Grace might not be telling about her attempt to save the boar, but Nanase likely didn't saw any reason why to NOT talk about Abrahams attack at school, INCLUDING the fight with Adrian. Your second point, meanwhile, is quite more important. Susan doesn't have any mean of fast travel AND there is no reason anyone would be telling her about attack at Adrian except Elliot and Grace. So, unless Adrian happens to be in the mall, she may only get in the fight WITH Elliot and/or Grace - and if they would carry her flying, it would be WITHOUT Diane. The third weapon in Susan's First Vampire Killing Kit was a mace. And Noah broke the neck of the bulldog dragon during that fight. That would have killed it if it wasn't a summoned creature. That mace didn't looked that much blunt. But yes, breaking neck should work - and yes, it would be less effective than sword.
  15. Story Friday September 8, 2017

I'm not sure she can be in playful enough mode without alcohol being involved. Of course, the only way she would be using her beam in public would be in defense (and Elliot can somehow ended up being hit despite not being original target, I think Magus would be able to arrange that), but it may be still more likely than her transforming Elliot with Ashley present. However, given Dan saying As much as people might throw things at me for this, we're not suddenly shifting focus to Sarah and Sam's date, as that's not the focus of this story, I find very likely that Sam will NOT get involved in today's problems. After all, Sarah should get opportunity to find out Sam is trans and then think about what would be right to do before something happens and Sam will find out regardless.
  16. Story Friday September 8, 2017

And they run on those? My goodness. I have new respect for them now. I thought the current quad core CPUs ran on microchips, not transistors. 1) There is over 7.2 billion transistors in Intel Broadwell-EP Xeon - see wikipedia, page Transistor count. Ryzen has 4.8 billion transistors, reported here. Obviously, those transistors are "integrated", part of the microchip. 2) There are traditional visible-with-eye transistors on motherboard, along with capacitors. Google image search (I hope the link is persistent enough) will show you several with arrows pointing to them. This one might be good example, it's from 2010 but motherboards didn't changed so much This AM4 motherboard have several pieces looking very similar to the labelled-as-transistor ones in previous image:
  17. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Unlikely, because ... ... this is not new. Obviously, Sirleck CHANGED the plan when he found about Adrian AND he didn't told Magus, because if he DID, Magus would tell him Adrian is son of Pandora, which would make Sirleck immediately change the plan to AVOID Adrian. The part in instructions about not killing anyone else is still probably Magus's input.
  18. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Well, there are still transistors in todays computers, and not even just the integrated ones. The electron tubes, meanwhile, disappeared completely (the last one to go was the huge one in CRT). From house electronic I mean - there are some in military devices and similar stuff. Neither did Nanase. Their victory over Not-Tengu is a classic case of the indirect approach. . That's what I was saying. Mary Sue would win by directly beating him. Nanase won indirectly and needed Ellen to help - them being able to disperse was key part of plan. The mall MIGHT be at or near the mall, but Sarah's location is not important: what is important is that Elliot will not be near Susan. Isn't Adrian supposed to be removing the dam Friday Night? I could be wrong, but the attack on him is supposed to be Friday night and it sounds like it's going to be in a public place so Adrian would have to be out of the house. Though I guess Adrian could be removing the dam Saturday and he's going to be spending Friday night out on a Father/Son thing with Noah. I don't think the dam is ready to be removed already. Meaning we have no idea where Adrian could be, with the Father/Son night being definite possibility. Maybe Elliot and Ashley will be watching movies with Ellen and Nanase. That would be a good way to get Nanase to get to know Ashley and not be so suspicious of her. Plus it would have Elliot and Ellen together for Magus. Maybe he somehow gets Ellen to want to show off her beam in front of Ashley and zap Elliot? Magus would definitely prefer to get Ellen and Elliot near, but his options HOW to do that are limited. I'm looking forward to what he plans to do ... Yes ... the room might be big enough for both pairs but I don't think either of them would consider it good idea. Although note that the main reason Ellen planned to be elsewhere was to keep DIANE elsewhere. Very unlikely. Magus is not this powerful. There MIGHT be small chance if for some reason they change plans while the date is in progress - say, the TV stops working or something. Yes ; specially in this case there is additional reason to not tell her family, but she might reach out to Rhoda and Lucy - ESPECIALLY Rhoda, who pointed out their similarity - to have some friend around for support. And similarly, Susan might ask Ellen and/or Nanase because they persuaded her, although alternatively she may decide for Justin as someone more likely to support her. I agree that it's unlikely such event would appear offscreen (although it might appear as flashback and/or NP story). However, I don't think it's necessary to happen now. Or, possibly, it can happen by accident similarly like Ashley found Elliot is Cheerleadra - in fact, there is quite hight possibility for Rhoda finding out Susan has magic because the group will be attacked and Susan will be defending them, if Rhoda will be there. Which will also makes good opportunity for SUSAN finding out RHODA has magic.
  19. Story Wednesday September 6, 2017

What makes you think he didn't? ... oh, timeframe. Unless the "not finding the hammers funny" part happened very recently, talk shows didn't exist yet.
  20. Story Wednesday September 6, 2017

First law of thermodynamics states that total energy in isolated closed system will never change. Magic makes practical proofs that no system is closed. It doesn't NEED to break that law ... Well, I don't consider it fun, but lot of people apparently do ... I'm not sure which case Pandora is. It's true that in EGS, people are much more likely to solve interpersonal problems by talking than in reality, not speaking about those popular series I don't consider fun.
  21. Story Wednesday September 6, 2017

According to some, he's already there. He supposedly said "Split a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there." Doesn't seem to be talking, though. But those humans who claim authority from God tend to get it even worse than the average ones. If it's only about yourself, it's not making a cut - it's just saying on which side of the cut you want to end. * Pandora is offended * Apologies to Pandora then. Her world is simple compared to ours. Not about the "simple" part. About the implication that her world is not chaotic enough. ... although, maybe she takes it as declaration that she is needed. Or as invitation to our world. (Also, I think it's true, although I wouldn't say it in front of Pandora. So I would also like to apologize.) (BTW, simple and chaotic are not contradiction)
  22. Story Wednesday September 6, 2017

Tell them they will appear in sequel and/or prequel. That's how real professionals are doing it. (It is not necessary to actually plan any other story from the same universe. Wait for them begging for it.) So, you are atheist? I think they may shift, but nowhere near as much as the person's understanding of them. Talking about focus implies that if you study the topic long enough, you may eventually get at resolution where you can make the cut. Although it may work if you add that you are looking at fractal. The better you are looking, the harder the cut seem to be. But still ... the border of fractal is hard to define but it exists. I think the rainbow is better metaphor. Rainbow obviously contains colors blue, red and green. But if try to make the cut between green and blue, well ... you wouldn't know where AND you can't exactly go to the rainbow to make the cut. (I though this is why LGBT got rainbow as flag, but it doesn't seem so.) * Pandora is offended *
  23. Story Friday September 8, 2017

Yeah ... somehow I find hard to believe vampires would care if they would be labelled vampires, aberrations or the people who decided to stop being people. She's being cynical. She thinks Ashley is being too nice, friendly, and good-hearted and is suspicious because of that. I'm not surprised. Ashley's ability to win people is close to Mary Sue (warning, tvtropes link). Actually ... that's it. Mary Sue is unrealistic EXACTLY because in real life, there will always be someone who wouldn't trust someone so nice. ... also, Nanase has Mary Sue's ability list. Well, close to: Mary Sue would fight Not-Tengu head on and win.
  24. Story Wednesday September 6, 2017

The fact they are going on date. I mean, sure, neither of them are comfortable with calling it a date, but I don't think Sam would mislead Sarah if he wasn't interested in her. Compare this with Susan, who didn't mind spending time with Catalina, but immediately tried to make clear it wouldn't be date. Of course Catalina realized it quickly. Oh, right, the "they are actually looking at something else than Elliots tracts of land" option.
  25. NP Friday Sep 8 2017

Yeah ... she would need really want to protect others to get THAT spell. She could get the same with Tedd, she only needs to convince Elliot it's safe. Can't take long before one or more of them get into main cast.
