NP Comic for Tuesday, Aug 8, 2023 Like all amazing things, after you see them a couple of times, they become mundane. Cheerleadra should be old news by now, no? George has quite the skill at overthinking a situation. I wonder if he could be a future pundit on the EGS universe's version of Fox News? In the last panel, it is a good thing that George did not say, "I can't pull my finger on it . . .", because that idea really stinks. If he did, Ellen would be choking, not whistling. And her eyes would be watering, which is probably difficult to draw. Do you wonder what Ellen is whistling? There are not very many clues. There is no staff, but the notes appear to be a note, a half note down, and then return to the first note. They are three equal half notes, one with the free floating flag, and two with the tied together notation. That should not matter, the lengths should be the same. And that's all, just a bit of a remembered song. Dan is missing an opportunity, He could have a much more elaborate whistling tune, the title of which could be an additional punchline. We could speculate endlessly.

NP Comic for Thursday, Aug 10, 2023 George 'hears a crime', and makes an excuse to run off. Guessing he has a crime fighting power he's hiding? Sure, why not.

NP Comic for Tuesday, Aug 1, 2023 I really like the Larry panel. I am now curious about George's backstory, he appears to be somewhat damaged goods. But Rich, he's an incoherent hot mess. poor guy bounces from one wrong conclusion to another, but at least in the aggregate, he seems to be moving forward. He strives to be merely as dysfunctional as George. Over the current arc, he's made progress, but he hasn't reached 'healthy outlook'. If Ellen and Nanase consider him to be a friend now, that's bound to be good for him.

NP Comic for Saturday, Jul 29, 2023 Are they surprised Ellen is including them? I guess I would have been at that age.

Comic for Thursday, Jul 27, 2023 Nanase learned something; personal growth. We have just witnessed an after school special. And she's hungry. I hope they get chicken. Close the loop, so to speak.

NP Comic for Tuesday, Jul 25, 2023 (Susan only appearing in Larry's head) Not sure why it is shocking that Larry watches the video review show; apparently it isn't because Ellen's words to not match her calm expression. Unless it's a reference to eating fish on Fridays. I don't think I've ever eaten a carp; I've heard they are bony. Not getting why you can't just filet it. I've had trout, and it is bony; maybe the flesh is too thin to filet. Maybe it's a reference to the Catatafish.

NP Comic for Tuesday, Jul 11, 2023 Nice one, Ellen. They've unleashed something - recurring nemesis for future sessions. I love the finger pointing. George was the instigator, and blames Rich for not stopping him. Rich is taking him way too seriously, though. He's messing with you, Rich.

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-148 Me: How would that have gone if I'd just posted what I thought of Today's comic? Ellen: Not Well.
-
https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-144 The Minions should count themselves lucky to have fallen into their not-immediately-lethal trap. . . . . . A full momentary gut reaction of concern? How can Bard Larry afford to be so generous?
-
https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-138 Poor Nanase. But well roleplayed by Larry!

NP Comic for Saturday, May 20, 2023 This overly convoluted cultist plan does not seem suitable for an introductory module. Even if the cultists had successfully kidnapped Nanase's character, she would have been unable to translate the hieroglyphic message. 'Sick' dates this comic as being framed in a previous generation of slang. Not as bad as 'tubular', 'rad', or 'bad' though. It's really hep, isn't it, daddy-o. I'm hoping this wraps up soon. The eye opening of Rich has been accomplished, now we're just beating a dead horse, er, uhm, chicken. Hopefully not actually dead yet. So far I think no one has died, including cultists.
-
NP Comic for Tuesday, May 16, 2023 Those aren't inaccurate. George's is not a 'fancy chicken' in the same sense, though. I don't think I've seen anything that looks like the head feathers on the third one, though. They seem to be doing better at this than Ellen did.

NP Comic for Tuesday, May 9, 2023 Hoping to trigger a reaction by pretending to read the inscription. Sure, why not? Savvy cultist would hesitate and see if she seemed to actually understand. But I think we are on a railroad here, so it should work.

NP Comic for Saturday, May 6, 2023 Dan has a plan. I don't see anything beyond George and Larry's speculation, so wondering what Nanase's additional insight is. The checker board configuration looks improbable. It seems that white should have already taken that piece that is threatening to jump and king. The white piece blocking the white jump had to move after the black jumping piece moved, in which case why did white not jump the black piece earlier? Now we need a black chicken to jump the white chicken . . .

NP Comic for Thursday, May 4, 2023 It's a pretty good picture of a chicken, basic though it may be.

Here. Yeah, once you been in a few magical battles for your life, rolling dice to save a fictional chicken pales by comparison. Nanase needs to borrow Grace's imagination.

NP Comic for Saturday, Apr 15, 2023 If you ever want to add tension to a TTRPG game you are running, just roll some dice and then flip pages. It could mean something. Pointed questions are useful, too.

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-116 Brilliant strategy. On par with the Grail Knights' classic tactic of RUN AWAY!

NP Comic for Thursday, Mar 23, 2023 Seems that Larry would already know subdual vs lethal damage. Odd question. In spite of this, Ellen explains, then realizes she jumped to conclusions. George saves the day, sort of. This seems to me to be too much detail, bogging down progress. If you know this material, this explanation is unnecessary. If you don't it's not enough to really explain it. It's kind of a weird mechanic anyway. The gist is that beating something up inspires loyalty. There may be some truth in that in the short term, but in the long run, you are only making enemies and setting up future challenges to authority. In terms of simply not killing things, though, it works.

Comic for Saturday, Mar 11, 2023 This may be what Rich needs to hear?

NP Comic for Tuesday, Mar 7, 2023 No real surprises, they beat the small group. Mission focus might mean sparing the cultist is a foolish risk.

NP Comic for Thursday, Feb 23, 2023 Nanase's rogue goes full lawful stupid. Oops, indeed. "What did she just do?" Reactions: Larry's face is consternation, along the lines of "We're screwed" - probably not true, but the situation got more difficult. George's is confusion, "Why would you do that?" Riches is inscrutable, ellipses - He's either pissed, or "I knew she couldn't role play", or "I knew girls can't role play", or "Hey, that's my role!" Difficult to say which. He's clearly not thrilled though. Ellen's response is priceless. "You f***ed up, Honey, I'm explaining how ..." Pretty gentle, really, and hopefully preemptively defuses anyone else's presumably hostile response. Nanase's "Oops" response says she learned something, but it may be overwhelmed by "I knew I hated this." So, for today's comic, she's actually playing a rouge, applying the red to her cheeks as clown style makeup. Which may be appropriate if they have a TPK before they even reach the climax of the module.

NP Comic for Thursday, Feb 16, 2023 In the first panel, Ellen is simply beside herself. Her imaginary fairy self outfit is more risque than is typical for EGS (in fact, seems to defy physics, at least slightly). I'm sure this says something about Ellen's positive body image and being comfortable in her own skin, in regard to how Dan views Ellen seeing herself. Larry's too cute elf seems to say that Larry would enjoy being transformed, if he knew it was an option. I am guessing that this is foreshadowing, and it is going to happen; it may be a messing with Rich moment as well, as he deals with his best friend being transformed. Oh, and she seems to be flirting with him. Oh, dear, what a tangled web! Meta: This NP must be fun for Dan; he has taken several breaks from the main comic, but has not slowed down much on this NP arc. Nothing we've seen so far appears to remove this from canon. It's a fair amount of stage time. Does this elevate the minor character participants' status yet? George still seems like a prop, kind of just there, but Rich and Larry are at least hitting Rosencrantz and Guildenstern levels. Looting on the way out would make more sense logistically. Lugging that weight would hinder them in battle. But, in Riches defense, if they don't loot now, they are likely to get a cut scene when they meet their quest objective, and be unable to loot afterward.

NP Comic for Saturday, Feb 11, 2023 No one questioned the tracks changing. Would it not make sense to leave the treasure, and pick it up on the way out? Perhaps stash the bag and return for it? Could be hors d'oeuvres before the ceremony ...
