  1. Not necessary all of them. For example, the mild-mannered one, attracted to Justin ... But he definitely likes at least some forms without them being superhero. I would think he likes both the goth form without mind-bending and party form WITH mind-bending.
  2. Story: Monday May 1, 2017

Actually, she did. She predicted she couldn't get anyone to kill the kidnapper but tried anyway. I had assumed - reinforced by nT's impression that Ellen was trying to enchant him - that Ellen was trying to zap him into a less imposing, and probably less capable, female form. Which probably wouldn't have accomplished much, as (most likely) he could just re-enchant himself. But Ellen didn't know at the time that he was a self-transformed human. We don't know parameters of his enchantment OR if it would stack with FV5. If it would turn not-Tengu to human female, he could re-enchant himself and it again may or may not stack. But female monster form will probably be similarly dangerous as male one, in which sense it wouldn't accomplished much long term. Therefore, I think Ellen was going for short term effect. Remember their tactic was delay. And turning not-Tengu to female could definitely delay him. Abraham was a product of medieval times. Back then the general attitude was that afflictions such as leprosy, madness, childlessness and so forth were God's punishment for some evil or other. Since the only function of the diamond was a flawed removal of spells from persons touching it -- and we know from Nioi that it has a very broad definition of what it sees as a 'curse' -- it becomes all too plausible for me that Abraham has killed one or several beings whose only crime was to be duplicates split off from someone who wished to be free of an unwanted enchantment. Such beings might or might not have been dangerous, but I am willing to lay enormous odds against all of them being innately evil or the victims of an enchantment that made them dangerous to their surroundings. It would be immensely simple for this not being the case. Imagine someone who just wanted to get rid of a spell that had turned them ugly or afflicted them with a disease or the like. Abraham would still be ready to axe the duplicate. If it was infectious disease, the copy would definitely be dangerous to others, even if not evil. Especially considering the diamond would make even normally noninfectious enchantments infectious. (Who knows, maybe using the diamond on some "ugly" enchantment can CREATE pox epidemic.) In fact, if Ellen wouldn't totally fail at evil even after snapping and instead of talking about PMS just decided to FV5 half of school, she WOULD be dangerous. Especially if the victims wouldn't know that 1) it's temporary 2) it can be reversed. Still, the diamond was KNOWN to be flawed - at least the "professionals" knew it. It's possible that the list of duplicates he was killing was very short.

Stun and possibly confuse (or make him lost focus). Also, it's possible she just wanted to attack him SOMEHOW, no matter if it will actually be effective. It IS possible Ellen would overcome that lack of desire in situation like this. I don't know, I don't think so though since the beam is invisible and it transforms her and not the target. Also the copy beam requires Ellen to be in close range so might not be enough room for Magus, and the copy beam might not even have the same level of energy that Magus needs to push him into Elliot. While technically open, I agree that it's unlikely. I would also add that Magus was not exactly around recently, because of justified worry Pandora would notice him.
  4. Story: Monday May 1, 2017

Ellen has never copied anyone who wasn't female. Including Brownie. This doesn't mean Ellen couldn't but even if she can, the importance of her own identity as a female could raise issues. Come to think of it, it already has, at Grace's Birthday Party. She would be copying Elliot while Elliot is in her own form. That should be female enough. I'm sure that was her FV5 beam and not-Tengu resisted it. Catgirl Heidi might come pre-catniped, just as normal Heidi includes the "any outward signs of drunkennes are purely for show" bit. (Also, seconding that yes)

There are only two colors of comics: F8 and E8. In first panel, the top row is F8, E8, E8, F8, E8, F8 and the bottom is E8, F8, E8, E8, F8, E8. In second panel, the comics seem to be mirrored: left to right, right to left. In third panel, the comics seems rotated 180 compared to first panel, or flipped top to bottom compared to second panel. Actually, that's likely exactly what Dan did. Seriously:
  6. Story: Monday May 1, 2017

She was embarrassed but wore it anyway. And that wasn't JUST feminine but also skimpy. She isn't shown much period. And if she is - like in the singing or the frame after sex with Archie - we only see TOP of the clothes, which doesn't really say much. She definitely doesn't OWN lot of clothes, and when buying stuff she likely thinks about being able to wear it often, which may eliminate lot of sexy clothes. However ... ... I agree with the idea of Ellen wearing transformed clothes. Probably not into school, also it will not always be so much sexy, but I think the superhero costume wasn't only thing she asked Elliot to morph. Hmmmm ... also, idea: what if instead of manipulating with clothes Elliot simply changes to Ellen in specific clothes and Ellen then copies him? That would not only eliminate the risk of wardrobe malfunction, it would also allow Ellen to switch to normal clothes at will by ending the copy spell. Except ... how long will the copy spell last? Maybe clothes transformed by Elliot are more durable.
  7. Story Friday April 28, 2017

After a certain height is reached, any further elevation becomes moot. And people have -- rarely -- survived falls from incredible heights. An example was a hapless pilot about a mile above France during WW1. This was 1917, so due to the genius of High Command pilots were not allowed to bring parachutes as this would 'merely encourage them to abandon their expensive planes'. This particular plane was on fire so the pilot had a choice between jumping and burning to death. He elected to jump. After falling a mile he went through the straw thatched roof of a sleepy little nunnery and landed in a bed. Fifteen minutes later he walked out of the place under his own power. Damn. Ok, that solves it, guillotine it is. The scientific explanation is obvious ; the straw thatched roof had exactly the correct "density" to not kill him and still slow his fall. I suppose the only problem with constructing such roof deliberately would be shortage of volunteers for testing. But I agree this wouldn't overcome the emotional impact of this, especially considering the luck he had hitting it. Sure, with amount of pilots falling from sky during WW1, the probability that at least one of them hits such roof wouldn't be THAT small, so it's likely survivorship bias, but that doesn't overcome the emotional impact either.
  8. NP: Monday May 1, 2017

I'm not sure what is strategic on AOL CDs but it wouldn't be first decision of US Department of Defense I don't understand. That is what I meant. Raised like a window, for example. There must be shelf on the bottom of comics rack. There is no shelf on bottom here. Therefore I suspect it's really inverted.
  9. Story: Monday May 1, 2017

Therefore fashion battle. She remembers being Elliot and having exactly same fashion taste as him. Sure, she also remembers her second live, and apparently estrogen makes you more aware of what you wear (ok, maybe it's because other people are looking at girls more), but she is still likely to dress same or similar as Elliot if she doesn't focus on it (I'm sure her T-shirt must have different size in several places to fit, so it's not exactly same).
  10. NP: Monday May 1, 2017

Note that he almost guessed something else: there really IS a spell which allows to know exactly if someone is looking. Except Nanase has it, not Grace. Carrying one six-pack of 2l bottles of mineral water in every hand will also reminds you quite nicely. Those handles are even worse. It's not raised. It's inverted. There are no comics in bottom part of picture.
  11. Story: Monday May 1, 2017

    1) That's a big IF 2) Considering the spellbooks are apparently DELIBERATELY hard to read, I wouldn't be surprised if they would be ALWAYS changing - like, not the actual content, but adding and removing not important words here and there, and maybe spacing or stuff like that and reordering sections, making the pages always end with something different. Note that Nanase likely have lot of experience reading her spellbook and she missed change anyway. (But maybe she's not that good or the change was recent.)
  12. Story: Monday May 1, 2017

Maybe. Nevertheless, I consider highly likely she also have new spell and will be surprised by it. I think the proper term is skimming. She doesn't actually read it but skims over it to see if there is something new. And yes she does it at least weekly, probably multiple times per week. First week maybe. I'm sure it wouldn't take me long before lowering the frequency to weekly. I HOPE I wouldn't lower it below that, but ... Agree. Although not girly doesn't mean not awkward, maybe there is some other misconception - wait, wouldn't Elliot get CAT-related spells now? For all we know, the last time Elliot saw or heard anything about Ellen reading her spellbook was when she got her Copy spell. Elliot probably felt that Ellen would show him any new spells she got, but at the same time Ellen's probably held back on showing him anything until he read his spellbook first. I don't think so. Also, I think he DID read his spellbook after that (like, shortly after that) - generally, I think that unlike Susan, who didn't realized she should, Ellen and Elliot were reading or at least skimming their books more often than we were shown, just to not find anything new. Except Elliot was only reading his when Ellen reminded him or he noticed she's reading her. And it's possible the last case was months ago. (Well ... unless Ellen looked if she got guardian form in her book after Family tree. That's probably not months yet.)
  13. Story Friday April 28, 2017

That's true, but again, I would note that you don't need to count resources the one-percenters pays. Obviously, the idea is to only defenestrate the one-percenters which already ARE in such buildings, although it's true that revolutionaries would need to get there too. True. The risk for cheering audience of innocent bystanders (who isn't cheering, isn't innocent and will go next) is much smaller in case of guillotine. Hence the advantage of high buildings. No amount of shit is going to save one-percenter falling from 100th floor.
  14. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Not available. Possibly because Fibonacci was born in 1175, but hey, you didn't said your teachers called them Fibonacci sequences, did you? I would just throw them out of a window. With the height of modern buildings, it would be much more effective than it used to be. Also, it's cheaper than guillotine. Especially if you don't plan to pay for that broken window.
  15. Story Friday April 28, 2017

For one thing, a Roman legionary killed Archimedes before he was really finished inventing calculus, and we had to wait until Newton and Leibnitz re-invented it nineteen centuries later. Also, Romans lacked zero, but so did Greece. It took few centuries before that idea appeared, possibly because people with zero money weren't taken seriously back then. It is possible that if their math had better theoretical foundations, they wouldn't do the mistake of subtracting democracy from themselves. It's one of few math terms Romans understood better than modern people. Currently, when military unit is decimated, much more are killed.
  16. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Not so. The alternate worlds could have their "clocks" set behind or ahead of our own. Or time could pass at different rates--this is a very common feature of stories about mortals visiting the faerie realm. So you can have the appearance of time travel, just not within the same universe. Exactly. You can't have "real" time travel but can have "fake" one. Yes. Although you need some exotic matter for it. Before I formulate a properly long-winded response, please clarify: By "C" do you mean "100"? "12" in Base-13 or more? (No need to explain that one to anyone who's played enough Traveller to know what a UPP is.) "C" as referring to "Carol"? ... I meant 100, yes, although the "C as Carol" was meant as pun alternative. Although it's true that while we had Sister II, we also got Sister 3, so switching the numeral system IS possible. It's true that in many other situations, this would be my first interpretation as well. Why do you think Romans didn't do much math? Indo-Arabic decimal digits are MUCH better for computing.
  17. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Of course not. And we know that "real" time travel is not possible, so she can't be this universe Sarah ... if the age is real. If it's result of transformation ... I don't think so. I think Carol looked more like Sarah before - that's why Elliot didn't recognized her. She had "grow" spurt meanwhile ... possibly for same reason Susan had ... Obviously. But speculating like this is fun. Well, how else can we get to Sister C?
  18. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Dan's commentary on that page suggests it wasn't just the alcohol and not the enchantment, the alcohol likely helped turn them from "just pretending in order to get the guys riled up" to "hey, I really like this, let's find an out of the way spot and keep going" but it's very possible that they're now dating. Also the punch didn't make them look like Nanase until after the guys were turned into girls. Ellen and Nanase saw their first kiss, they didn't comment on how the pigtailed girl looked like Nanase at that time. Right, didn't re-read the commentary. Still think the enchantment helped. Although yes, at the time of first kiss the punch likely didn't took effect yet. Here, however ... one man already changed on previous page and noone noticed, so the "don't notice anything weird" part was already in full effect.
  19. Story Friday April 28, 2017

That MIGHT be effect of the punch already - Tedd and Nanase DO look similar. More interesting question is what is Sarah doing there (last panel). I mean, older Sarah? What? If you mean this page, note that this is after more punch, meaning not only more alcohol but also more enchantment. They probably aren't lesbian, but the enchantment is turning them into Nanases, who IS lesbian.
  20. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Party pooper. Do you tell kids there's no Santa too? What do you mean, no Santa?
  21. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Unlikely, considering she's not even close to awakening. Remember that not only magic marks, but even use of magic items gets you closer to awakening. More likely, the carpet is thick. Or there is music playing.
  22. Story Friday April 28, 2017

Note that she was certainly NOT naked later, but it's true it's likely after several minutes ...
  23. Story Friday April 28, 2017

I'm usually losing count of rereading at 3, so ... (and that's not counting how I often reread just part of storyline, searching for something). She's not actually naked. It's just optical illusion caused by the skirt being behind Diane and the shirt and her legs appearing same color behind the "filter" of Diane's move effect. But interesting illusion indeed.
  24. Story Friday April 28, 2017

The only mention of LARPing that I can think of was during So a Date, when Tara zoomed past Rick, Elijah and Rhea, and Dan clarifying what LARPers were in the commentary makes me believe it had never been mentioned before. Tensaided did ask Grace if she'd be interested in joining his RPG group, I'm wondering if she took him up on that and at some point couldn't make it to a session so asked Ellen and Nanase to fill in for her. They don't look to be filling for a rogue.
  25. Story Friday April 28, 2017

He definitely plans SOME visits. ... however, I don't think he actually plans like dozens of parallel worlds ... more likely, the number of "additional" alternative worlds shown in canon would be smaller than what we already saw in NP and sketchbooks. That was one of Tensaided's D&D sessions. I think it was some LARP. Didn't they even mentioned some LARP elsewhere? (Meanwhile, it being Tensaided is confirmed by commentary.) They would be unlikely to be solving some imaginary-world problem. Well ... I don't think so, on the other hand, after the griffin proved to be real, can't completely reject it ... Sounds unlikely. Dan, who only reads books about wizards named Harry, probably don't even know him.
