Well we know some of that material not only went into fixing the original TFG, but Tedd did build a backup gun for Grace's birthday party. I imagine some of the remaining materials went into creating the gauntlet, the gem might have been intended as a focusing crystal for the TFG beam. So enough materials to make 10 TFGs = 10 crystals, assuming one went into fixing the original TFG, one into making the backup TFG, one into the gauntlet and one into the glove he uses to program the watches, then Tedd should have 6 leftover for other stuff or to keep as replacement parts. I actually consider 6 minimum. Unless they break often. Unlikely. I mean, even if true, I don't consider likely it would mean he wouldn't be able to obtain more. Meanwhile, THIS is possible. His position of head of investigations certainly could provide better access to stuff like this than his position as paranormal diplomacy. I'd say Tedd has processed it. IMHO still processing. At least in the sense he's not ready to seriously think about something else.
  2. Things You Find Amusing

We can look at our own history to know that different cultures developed unique fighting styles with various weapons, and for europeans at one time, honorable combat involved both sides lining up their troops on the field. What Klingons used for weapons and how they fought would likely have worked for Klingons just fine. But comparing how a Klingon fights versus how a Human fights would be like that scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones was confronted by a swordsman trying to be intimidating and Indy just pulls out a gun and shoots him. Maybe. Question is who would be Indiana Jones? Only in the cases where their position really remained outside the line of fire ... AND if enemy wasn't hungry.

At the time, I think she figured she had an opportunity to start fresh, she admitted to us that she liked Sarah and her vow sounded like she wasn't going to make Sarah jump through hoops to learn magic, her training might be closer to how Pandora trained Adrian (though maybe not as harsh). Though she still sounded like she might still want to play around in general. It was supposed to be rhetorical question ... and you almost got it. It was because she wanted to separate how she behaves as "Box" and how she behaves as "Pandora". While the "I don't want Sarah to be scared by what she finds about Pandora" angle was more important, it will just as well help preventing people who knows her as Pandora - including Magus - to realize she can also be nice. ANYONE who would see the form Magus did see would try names like Chaos. I don't think Magus was first. She already behaved well around Sarah ... so, it's more like "provide additional incentive to not make any mistake" and "be more careful in evaluating what may be mistake". Note that, as I already said, I suspect she vowed to Sarah not only to raise her trust, but also because she felt like being nice and wasn't sure if she doesn't change mind later. Unlikely. The vows should be enough - or at least she thinks so. She is certainly aware that reseting would make her help less useful. That doesn't mean she won't consider reset if something more will happen ... but I think her current reaction is "I need to be more careful and less impulsive".

That would mean that the "best" materials would be hard to get ... but not the "worst still usable". The inspiration was certainly Lord Tedd's gauntlet, but that won't tell us what he used We don't exactly know what material the TF gun is of or how hard it's to obtain them either. It's possible that the magic storage in gauntlet is same as the energy storage in TF gun. And Edward brought enough of those for ten TF guns and didn't say anything like "those are costly be careful with them", he can likely bring more. Not really, it's not like he intends to leave Moperville. He may consider the watches only working in Moperville being additional security measure. Remember that they are for experiments (and for giving to friends). The gauntlet is something else and he may decide to build something for Sarah if she wants ... possibly something like separate battery for powering watches connected to it. (Note that Nanase, Susan, Ellen and Elliot can likely power the watches easily with their own magic and Grace can't use them at all. And Justin doesn't seem interested in them.) Now, the possibility of Moperville magic anomaly being "fixed", THAT might be motivation, but he found out about that possibility only few days ago, at the same time he found about the possibility of magic reset, and seems to not process the magic reset yet. If the magic reset happens, he would likely have worse worries than watches not working.

Yes, I didn't caught that one either. I mean, the title text obviously told me it's about Skyrim, but I didn't realized the game title is parody of the Skyrim name. Nail, maybe. Klingons have extra set of kidneys, an eight-chambered heart, a third lung, and even a secondary brain stem, as well as an extensive and hardy skeletal structure. I don't think you can kill one by thrusting him with rapier faster than in hour even if he's not defending himself and you have Klingon anatomy book. I'm not entirely convinced Bat'leth is better than traditional sword, but I wouldn't describe it as silly. The author of that concept was martial artist with experience in oriental weapon design (see memory alpha article for details) and what is best for fight between humans will not be same as what's best for fight between Klingons.

Nah, Sister 4's gonna be about meeting Second Life Ellen. Or maybe Beta Ellen. Wait, does that mean we need a Sister 5? So far, one-seventh of the story arcs was Sisters. If this ratio will change in future, I suppose it will be in the "more Sister arcs" direction. I think she started destroying her image when she confessed to Sarah that she was responsible for the clog, needed help to fix it, and vowed to help Sarah with Magic regardless of the outcome. Why do you think she introduced herself as "Box" to Sarah? While Sister 3 has the most parts out of every other multi-part arc. It's still far from being the longest arc, Sister 3 has only been going for 9 months now, Sister 2 went 21 months and is I think the current record holder. Sure not in real time length, but Sister II only had 133 pages, Sister III started on ID 2210 and is already on 2337 (and I don't think there were any gaps), making it 127 ... of course, Pandora's Box is 385 pages, so yes, it's only longest in terms of number of storylines. (Damn I need better statistics.) While I'm not entirely convinced Magus will finish in this arc, I do agree that not all Sister arc would involve Magus. It's just that considering the amount of "Sisters" we speculated about when this arc started suggests that having Sisters arc from time to time would be too good opportunity to miss.

I know right, this should have been the first though when we learned that Tedd could make the watches. Maybe Dan just downplayed the whole flying aspect of magic that we were like "we already have Grace, Nanase and Elliot who can fly on their own, Justin, Susan and Ellen don't seem interested in Tedd's magiteck stuff, so that leaves just Tedd and Sarah and they both seem more interested in transforming." Of course, Ellen later discovered the wonders of being able to fly with the help of copying Nanase's guardian form and Susan's had Tedd help with making new fairy dolls for her and now has her own watch to play with, but there's soo much going on right now that I don't think they've really had time to think about the kinds of spells Tedd could make for them with watches, and then there's that whole thing about the watches becoming unusable once the energy clog is cleared and the ambient magic levels drop to what they should be. So we may never see a flight watch. Tedd PROBABLY would be able to make flying watches based on observing how Nanase flies (there would likely be too much complications in Cheerleadra spell to find the flying component easily), but he's not really interested in it and may not like the idea of asking Nanase to come and help him with flying. And Nanase herself might not agree before Playing with Dolls. Of course, NOW she will probably came with lot of ideas to try ... Also note that flying as fairy is actually much better idea than flying in normal size, as you can fly inside without anyone seeing it. So, maybe Tedd should make fairy-doll-summoning watches instead? Thinly? Problem with bristles as disguise is not that their layer is thin, it's that they rarely cover more than fifth of the handle length. Actually the type of material does matter, it's mentioned in Q&A#6 that a well crafted wand can be more efficient than a big staff. Tedd's watches only work because they're drawing their energy entirely from the caster and ambient energy. If Tedd could get his hands on the right materials he might be able to augment as watch to store energy, kinda like his gauntlet. the quality of the material would allow for more energy, but that stuff's probably hard to come by and we don't know what the gauntlet uses. I suspect that the materials are not THAT much hard to find nor the preparation so hard. It's more that Tedd doesn't have MOTIVATION to put "batteries" in his watches. Single soldier, no matter what weapon he has, can't really take over whole country. So, while weapons are heavily used in enforcing rules, gold (metaphorical gold, other forms of money usually suffice) has very important place. But not irreplaceable: there are alternative ways how to pay soldiers, for example ways involving religion. Hmmm ... actually, we can more generally say that promise of money and/or payment in kind can be used to greatly reduce the amount of gold needed to pay for army, with religion being promise to be fulfilled after death.

Not sure what has Chuck Norris to do with Charles of Wales, but the difference is that Adrian nor Pandora are not AWARE of this. Elizabeth II is perfectly aware. I'm pretty sure outliving lot of Heirs Apparent speaks more about family relationships than about who's fictional. Even in most fictional settings children usually outlive their parents unless some accident happens (like, falling from stairs with dagger in back or being trampled to death by enraged elephant). ... I feel I'm missing some obvious reference ... ... you mean Elliot doesn't? And way to touch without being touched.
  9. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2336 presumably, after cache expires. It is already on http://www.egscomics.com/ Sooo ... Susan got "summon multiple things at once" upgrade for her spell. Did she also get some new spell? And/or spell upgrades? Is the "full immersion into fairy" upgrade she got or was it always there?
  10. The Justin/Susan Dynamic

Either jokes like this were part of their friendships or Susan though so after "boy-toy accepting her terms". Also, unlike Tedd and Grace, they don't enjoyed being transformed to other gender so much. In fact, even Sarah seem to enjoy it more ...

Also, when cutting her hair, he would be likely to notice the die is gone and blue is now their natural color. IMHO she did told him SOMETHING. Yes, it's question how much. There was also the theory that Blaike had siblings that, while never had any intimate contact with an Immortal, at least not in the time that Blaike and Pandora were together and then afterwards, the family resemblance could still have been passed through the generations and remained strong enough that Blaike's great, great, great, etc grand nieces could still have the Raven face. True, although I would argue that it's unlikely he would know about those either. Especially if the total number of Blaike's descendants is already in triple digits. Also, it would not explain their magic affinity. In any case, the implication that he deliberately let Diane go because he recognized her as relative is unlikely. Also, if he would recognize Diane, he would likely assume Grace's "no reason" is related to her recognizing the similarity.

I'm not sure about the boob curve but I did notice the hourglass waistline. George knows allot. Also, his "mostly looking into gameboy or whatever" might actually raise the probability of him noticing changes. Change blindness works best when brain "thinks" not enough time passed for change. If he looks at Grace only once per ten minutes, he's more likely to always process her look completely, noticing the differences.
  13. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

Susan did threaten Nanase once. That was joke. Nanase even commented it. I don't think he had any reasons to lie to Grace like that. Simple "no" would suffice. Conclusion: he still believe it. (Which don't make it truth, of course ...) Notice that I was talking about what he KNOWS, not what is true. He may have nieces, but he doesn't KNOW about any nieces. WAIT. After rereading what Heka said, speculation: Elves can't have children as long as they are elves. They turn human when their immortal parent resets. That would mean Susan and Diane are not Adrian's descendants, but might still be relatives - descendants of his siblings from before Pandora's last reset. That WOULD explain why immortals decided to lie to themselves about it ... and would be consistent with the need to take back all their magic before reset.
  14. I have no idea why you think so. I would say that, but between Liz, Goth Ashley, Goth Elliot and, of course, Mall!Goth Elliot there are too many to just go with a blanket no. Goths don't look right with out their makeup. Agree. And not only that, Goth's makeup tend to be obvious. (Meanwhile, correctly applied makeup for "normal" look should be almost unrecognizable.)
  15. Story Monday April 17, 2017

They also both roleplay on chat. It's possible she typed she's holding his hand. I'll grant the possibility but ask: Is there a Diane sighting in a comic prior to, say, 2003? Anytime after, even if it's a flashback, the odds-on explanation for her appearance becomes Susan-connected. According to wiki, this is her first appearance.
  16. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

Which confirms they don't really need those wings for anything Considering Justin likes Star Trek (although he likes Star Wars even more), could be. Hmmm ... Justin also likes Abrams movies, but I don't see how would time-traveling-created-alternative-universe help here. (Also, we know time travel is not possible, although the characters don't.) Right, Justin was missing when Voltaire appeared. And so was Susan. And, well, they don't exactly have any reason to trust Immortal without vow. On the other hand, Justin might not know about the "tried to get Elliot killed". Regarding trip to France, hard to say. Susan seems she's telling Justin too much, but trip to France might not be included. He said half-immortals cannot have children. His sister would necessary be half-immortal (or full immortal, but in such case Diane and Susan would be elves, which is unlikely to escape notice). So, while technically possible he has sister and knows it (unlikely but not directly contraindicated by anything in the story), he certainly don't know about any nieces. Nah. She would use hammers on her. Waaaaait, this is something I forgot last strip. She can now use hammers on anyone ... but she didn't actually used them on anyone since awakening. That might be better idea than trying to slap black belt holder.
  17. Story Monday April 17, 2017

When did Susan begin evolving toward being a main character? My guess would be here (2003) Actually this "actually blonde" does look to be first sign of Diane-is-her-sister idea ... and Dan agrees, he also thinks this storyline sealed the deal.
  18. Story Monday April 17, 2017

Elliot's love to Nanase might be better example. Except that one only needed ONE gender change, this one would need TWO. Carol will FINALLY get her story - she will get Vampire attack on camera. Except it would be attacking HER. Yes, that would be likely, if there will be massive vampire attack on Moperville ... Yeah, but she's usually already in motion or at least prepared to use said options Wouldn't one of lessons be "always be prepared"? ... ok, that makes more sense. I originally though it's just like swallow homophobia but you have point with Rick. And actually, it's likely it was RICK she was in love with before finding out he's gay, not Justin. Yeah she may not look THAT similar to Susan in first appearances ... Well obviously them being sister was already planed at THAT point (2007). Question is how far back goes that idea? 2006? 2005? 2004? 2003? 2002?
  19. Ooendan

Tedd can't fly. Neither can Ellen except the guardian form. Still, yes ... without any other option, if Elliot, Nanase and Grace would be taking turns, it would take some time before people would accept three friends taking turns as easier explanation. On the other hand, they DO have other option. It's easy for Edward to arrange some sighting in way which would be much safer for all three mentioned. Just have everyone that can "do" Cheerleaders appear all together, and say it's the standard "uniform" for anyone super powered who doesn't have their own unique super identity yet. The very short skirt is to encourage new supers to get their own costumes as soon as they can. Or they can claim they are cheerleader squad. After all, cheerleaders USUALLY appears in squads, don't they? Well, even good ideas may backfire.
  20. The NP section update

You are aware that the date is part of image file name in most cases, and for last few years, you can even get exact time Dan created the comics? For example, 1492398676-np20170417-FAW-04.png - 1492398676 is Mon, 17 Apr 2017 03:11:16 GMT. So, you can even read the NP and story image for same day in the "correct" order

... he may even be another Seer That would be VERY stupid move - the other half of the world have different history, different society, likely different technology ... assuming he would fit better on the "low-magic half" just because he doesn't have magic would be stupid. Also, even on other half of the world majority of people likely doesn't have magic, otherwise having magic would be normal and not sign of royalty. (ok, it IS possible everyone has little magic and royalty lot of it, but more likely, no magic is normal). Of course, just because it would be stupid move doesn't mean it didn't happened
  22. Story Monday April 17, 2017

This is the one I missed. Thanks. I don't think those "angst induced events" can happen so easily outside awakening. Although yes, Nanase had something similar when she got the guardian spell. Nanase's dodge options are very wide (I think she's using flying in the first one). I guess technically, in the "copy-behaviour-considered-normal-to-keep-alpha-female-status-in-school" sense. Although it may just be facade ; she seem to pretend to be more "normal" than she is. That's a thought that never occurred to me. Susan's mom has always been shown as the ex-wife of a philandering husband, and Edward thinks Susan's dad was a cheating cheater who cheated. But double standards aren't exclusive to men. It's true that the time difference in conception might've been bigger than the difference in birth ... and, in fact, the conceptions might've been in different order. Hard to say with perspective in that image, but IMHO Diane wouldn't even notice Nanase appearing behind corner even if she would pay attention to what happens in corridor. She's making those eyes on the guy. She MIGHT not even bother remembering his name ... unless she just pretends that. On computer, you can show new posts without interrupting editing reply. Who's going to tell her ... demon duck? I can see her face changing. "Whoa such abs ... who could that be ... should I date him? ... oh wait it's that gay." She might be faking not remembering "Justin", but I don't think she knows his surname. Stupid question. She KNOWS he knows Nanase and it was Nanase who told her about Susan. Even without knowing he knows Susan, obvious answer would be "Nanase/Ellen told him". Note that as part of gossip network, she is unlikely to be surprised informations spreads.
  23. Story Monday April 17, 2017

I wouldn't rule out jealousy based on Diane's platonic crush on Nanase... I wouldn't rule it either if not for the timeframe. At least Tom Sewell claims she was dissing him before he got close to Nanase (although he didn't added references so ... was there earlier flashback showing Diane than this?). We saw a bit of the metaphorical aspect in action when Nanase and Ellen eventually did tell Susan about Diane. That could have gone a lot worse if Jerry wasn't mentioned or if Susan angry enough to decide young Jerry broke the vow and lied or something (I dunno if she's aware of how vows work). Looking at that image, it seems that Susan is about to slap holder of black belt. She does NOT summon any of her weapons. That suggests that she will not normally reach for magic if angry - although she DOES reach for magic immediately when hearing about vampires. IF she got angry - and she doesn't seem to - she might slap Justin (or headbutt him again) but probably wouldn't think about detonating the fairies. (Hmmm ... now I wonder if Nanase has better reactions than Justin and would dodge that slap.) Eh, I was tired, too. Sorry about the sour comment, I just felt silly when I started a new thread only to see that you had already done that but misdated it. No problem.
  24. Old Characters Returning

And if Nanase is a month or so older than Tedd? It's certainly possible that Noriko and Mama Kitsune had discussions about Tedd after his birth so Mama Kitsune saw the rift forming. The base of the rift might have nothing to do with Tedd or Edward. We really have very low knowledge here: We know that Adrian Raven took both Mrs. Kitsune and Noriko (and Edward) as special students and we know Adrian and Noriko were still friends after Tedd was born, but that was likely years after finishing high school (Elliot is the one with surprisingly young mother). At that point, Mrs. Kitsune might already not be "friend" with them ... or not. It's true that Edward DID recognize Nanase, although he likely didn't saw her for long time, but that doesn't require them being friendly, just visiting sometime. Me too actually. Doesn't mean she married earlier.
  25. Story Monday April 17, 2017

Ok a sensitive bomb, the kind that goes off with a good bump. He's worried that if Susan's not kept in a good mood, BOOM! Kinda like how Ellen was worried about Tedd learning about his mother. That bomb was only metaphorical. THIS bombs are quite real. Although Susan is not likely to actually detonate them and the unsummoning luckily seem to require conscious though ... Also note that Justin is not really afraid they detonate, he just tries to use it as distraction. I think that first boy she seriously wanted to date is Elliot. She might've wanted to get some money from Justin just like from other boys ... but he won't buy her stuff and he'll scare away guys who would. So ... her opinion of Justin might be completely based on other boys reaction to him. Also, I don't remember her adoptive parents splitting up.
