  1. Story Wednesday March 23, 2016

I agree with the previous paragraphs, but I don't think there is anything in the "guide and empower" against explaining situation little more widely. Forcing is something different. (Note: Helena obviously don't know about Pandora pushing the guide and empower even MORE.)
  2. Story Monday March 21, 2016

We actually seem to agree on lot of things. I don't see anything I would disagree with in what you are saying, except obviously the "ludicrous" part. It's just that I consider teaching children harder than teaching adults, while you seem to think it's equally hard. Of course, it's hard to compare it objectively (unless you try something like number of suicides, or number of occupational diseases cases, but thats more about how it's dangerous, not how hard it is), so agree to disagree makes sense. (Or ... well ... not agree to disagree DOESN'T make sense.) Going back a bit, yes, it is possible that DGB only has teachers specializing at teaching adults because they decided they don't NEED to teach children. Based on Moperville that seems like bad decision, but maybe it's anomaly and people awakening before reaching adulthood are extremely rare ...
  3. Story Wednesday March 23, 2016

Maybe not inevitable, but the risk is high to all of it. It may be another reason it's good idea to reset regularly. Besides the "becoming insane" part. Do they? (How they do it is likely not that important.) I consider Greg and Vladia being couple more likely. It would definitely be worth the risk that immortals are allowed to counterattack in such situation. Note that the gate was not CREATED by griffin mage. And it may be hard to explain how would that look to immortals. Another griffin? EXTREMELY easy to describe. Hmmmm ... there is also possibility than He-Who-Glows-In-The-Dark was actively shielding Tara and preventing other immortals to notice her ... but no, I don't consider it very likely. Most likely, the only steps Helena and Demetrius did in looking for Tara was to said they did. At least they didn't fed her with additional lies in effort to make her attack magic users like Elliot. (They might tell her some lies to make her attack the vampires, but first, I don't think it was necessary, second, the vampires deserved that anyway.)
  4. Story Monday March 21, 2016

Sure, the relationship between Tedd and Grace is much more advanced than Mrs. Kitsune thought, but I wouldn't be so sure Tedd didn't needed help. Although I think that Ellen helped more. Just because he didn't mention them doesn't mean they aren't competent. And I can't figure out what you mean by that second sentence at ALL. Some people just don't handle children / kids / teens very well. Or their teaching style doesn't work well for them (Try running a high school or Jr High class with the laxness and/or style of a college class and see how well it works for ya). Or they deal in dangerous subjects that you have trouble teaching to minors / people in high school or younger for legal reasons. That bolded part is really mind-boggling to me. Grace from start, Ellen and Elliot after awakening, Nanase and Susan after return from France, Susan after awakening, everyone would benefit from some basic course about magic. Nothing dangerous, just some basic stuff, like how it's important to read spellbook and train regularly. Apparently, Edward decided that it would be enough if he explained it himself. Now, sure, he MAY be the best teacher DGB has, also his personal connection to them is definitely advantage, but unless he is giving more lessons off-panel, I think that he could at least mention that there is some option. I don't believe than magic users are SO different from each other they need to discover everything themselves. And the second sentence is because I consider teaching children harder than teaching adults (or near-adults like in college). Greg was able to do that. Any teacher who isn't or who is not having the courage to is IMHO less competent teacher. (May still be good in his field - in fact, the colleges looks the way they do because people teaching there are more experts in their field than teachers. They must be, as they are giving lectures about advanced subjects, often including fresh discoveries.) It seems a safe assumption. In some sense yes, but Edward works in DGB, which makes it different. And I think that Raven taught Edward, Noriko and Mrs. Kitsune more, although we are not certain about time frame here ...
  5. Story Wednesday March 23, 2016

... I think it would burn the Doll with the overload and then transform Nanase's "normal" body. Hey, griffin is much better choice than children. For start, Andrea is adult. Remember they still don't remember much. They may not be AWARE of any other immortals except the guy who totally revealed himself in the Mall. It is completely plausible they THINK they are alone in the fight now. (This excuse is not going to work in the Nanase and Susan case, though.) I completely believe they may not be able to help her find the way home. I find harder to believe they missed another griffin in city. Although ... only reason they found Andrea might've been because she asked Elliot and they were observing him at the time.
  6. Story Monday March 21, 2016

No we don't. We only know that she knows more than we know she knows, which is already way more than Nanase know she knows. ... that makes sense. I mean, I still think Mrs. Kitsune don't like her daughter hunting monsters, but yes, it's entirely possible she realized she can't do anything against that ... she DID sent her to the school Raven teaches in, after all ... It was SUSAN who was sent there couple years earlier. Nanase actually known enough french to go there without parent intervention. You forgot to mention one assumption you are making: that she wasn't aware that there are magic-users who are actively hunting her daughter BEFORE. Despite her "I don't have a sister", she knows much more about Noriko than we do. ... maybe her reaction to Ellen dating her daughter would be worse if Ellen wouldn't be magic user. She likely tried to keep her away from Tedd before, but now she seem to gave up that plan and might be scheming to empower the Main Eight ... (About the "aware of her friends being magic-users" ... well, even if not directly told, she likely could realize what Greg's training is doing. So we can assume she knows about Elliot, Ellen and Justin being magic-users or on the way to becoming them, and she likely knows about Susan. Not sure what she thinks about Tedd. Not sure if she knows Sarah and Grace at all - she may not even know about them being Nanase's friends - wait. She gave Nanase the task of helping Tedd courting Grace.)

What would actually be left of the capital after getting nuked? Well, that depends on the yield of that nuke. Either "not much" or "crater". Rhoda? There is an order for giant ants coming!
  8. NP Monday March 21, 2016

I didn't said I would be one of them. I just said there will be people who wouldn't understand it. Or at least wouldn't accept it unless there will be additional contract with penalty for case the mill will sell the lumber to someone else. (Or, as you mentioned, if the railroad would retain ownership of the logs.)
  9. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

Considering we are talking about beavers, the route through water might be preferred.
  10. Story Monday March 21, 2016

I suspect that Mrs. Kitsune won't allow Nanase to go hunting monsters fulltime before at least two degrees and child. (Or one degree and two children?) Tedd sure have his research, but DGB would probably pay him for it. I'm not. Or at least Edward doesn't think so highly about those teachers, as he didn't mentioned them AT ALL. Sure, it's possible that those teachers don't like to teach children, but that only shows they are not as competent. ... also this. We can't be entirely sure it was Moperville high school - but yes, it does seem most likely. But remember also that Arthur Arthur tried to deport Raven to Russia, which presumably happened soon after he arrived ... and Arthur Arthur can't be THAT old.
  11. NP Monday March 21, 2016

I can totally see real-life stockholders having problems to understand this too.
  12. NP Monday March 21, 2016

... single cell organism? How is that supposed to work? Well personally I considered Transport Tycoon an upgrade to Railway Tycoon, although it seems they aren't related. And Transport Tycoon was upgraded to OpenTTD. Also logical/puzzle games. Cut the rope, Trainyard express ... ... but it seems she's specially interested in pacifists RPG, which is really hard to find.
  13. Story Monday March 21, 2016

Well of course, the best way to handle this would be to tell Edward and have him get people better equipped out there, but this is the Main Eight we're talking about, there's a better chance they'll get involved. Personally I would consider Susan much better ready for fighting now. Also, already adult by several TODAYs definition, including already allowed to drink in more than half of world (not that it would be related). ... also this. Old enough to serve in military is EXACTLY the age limit we are looking for. They could have arrived very recently / not have needed to feed for whichever reason, and Andrea nabbed them as soon as they arrived. They definitely wasn't in area at the same time. I agree that Andrea likely killed them relatively shortly after arrival. Also, remember that some of them might came BEFORE Edward lost his chair. To be more specific, it seems that she will only start asking questions NOW. It's possible that after Edward hears about the number of vampires, HE will ask Greg to train them in combat. It is questionable if DGB have anyone as good for training as Greg is, and enlisting them in DGB would put them under Arthur Arthur's orders ... Well, it really depends on if Grace and/or Ellen have Adrian for any classes this year, I say and/or because it's possible that the provision for Grace and Ellen to have the same schedule only applied to the previous year so that Ellen could help Grace adjust to being in school, there's a good chance Grace doesn't need that anymore. Anyway Adrian interest in Ellen and Grace likely hasn't faded especially after learning about the nature of both of them, and yeah Grace being Tedd's girlfriend has influenced Adrian's involvement but I doubt he'd turn any of them away if they came to him with any questions about whats going on. Actually, I would say that YES, he did decided that he shouldn't do to Grace what he did to Noriko. This might include not planing to train her, although he may change mind if asked OR if he notices what's happening and that he needs as many people as he can get. Note that I don't think it's Greg OR Raven: Raven can teach magic, but he is likely limited in physical training. Most of main eight would benefit from BOTH training them.
  14. NP Monday March 21, 2016

I though there are no people to kill in Portal. Does the bots counts? Also, pokemon obviously. Every pokemon just faints, noone is killed. And, well, stuff like Transport Tycoon. I imagine that George finding something about Grace could be main reason why this wouldn't be canon. ... wait ... wasn't that storyline declared non-cannon based on fact that Grace mentioned "A Link to the past" while in-cannon the hero name is "Chain" in EGS universe? Generally, that the gaming storylines are non-cannon because Grace plays our universe games instead of EGS universe games?
  15. Story Monday March 21, 2016

Also we have confirmation that she DID, indeed, stayed because lost her way AND that she's not considering vampire anything worth staying for, in fact it seems she's hunting vampires to kill time. Also, who do you think will be killing those vampires apparently coming to Moperville if not Andrea? Susan or Diane? I imagine that Arthur wouldn't be against someone QUIETLY killing some aberrations ... just not in public. In fact, how do we know that Wolf and Cranium didn't killed another three at the same time? It's not like main eight will be in need to know. (Well ... I imagine Edward might warn them if he perceived that there are more threads around, but perhaps he considers them warned based on the New Year incident ... wait, that was just weeks ago top ... hmmm ...) ... I definitely want to see what Edward would say on seven vampires. I don't think there is any known gathering spot for vampires. Definitely not after people like Noriko started to search for them. I would assume seven vampires in same city are definitely something noteworthy.
  16. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

I was specifically talking about "imagine each UNIVERSE as a coin" ... the "halves" are of whole universe, not just Earth. Well ... with all the secrecy, we can't rule out that this knowledge is just not his need to know ... but yes, it seems that the secrecy resulted in less research being done in magic, which shouldn't surprise. Well, Disco Wizard did think that Magic wasn't terribly invested in them succeeding, and that it might only be recruiting them to fill some quota or rule. In most of those anime the ones doing the recruiting WERE invested in succeeding. Easy. Coin has two sides. Dices have multiple sides. Each side being, for "practical purposes" as Tara said, separate. Witnesses AND youtube videos. Also, unlike the whales, he MAY be already aware that griffins exists, possibly based on information about their previous visit(s) hundreds years ago. You're assuming that the magical terrain is flat - like the bottom of a sink or washtub. If there are hills and valleys, and the drain in one valley is clogged, the magic will accumulate in that valley until it reaches a low spot in the surrounding hills and can run into the next valley. (Or the pressure gets high enough to blow the clog out.) Of course, we have no idea what these hills and valleys actually are... or even if this is a decent metaphor. Not sure what would those hills be either, but it's either that or surface tension. I mean, even on absolutely flat "terrain", small amount of water will form drops (unlike liquid helium, which tries to cover as much as possible). If you magnify the effect (and don't think too much about how drains would work with that big surface tension), you can see a big drop forming around Moperville which will eventually reach other drains without any hills required.
  17. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

Nah. "Slowly spreading outwards" matches more to lake or dam. The kitchen sink is invalid metaphor. The magic can't disappear and there are limits how much can concentrate, so it will spread until reaching other drain. Interesting that we are talking about UNIVERSES. Like, the immortal was talking about other half of planet, but Andrea talks about universes. That can mean that even if Pandora blocks all drains on Earth, the Moperville anomally will just spread until it reaches the drains on Mars and Venus, and the total amount of magic will STILL be big enough for Uryuom planet to not be affected. Of course, the other half of Earth would become low-magic area, with drains working but no magic returning, but it will still not be completely without magic because the magic will came from rest of universe. Not only that. Pandora likely already knows not only which of those happens, but also the details. In fact, she might've already marked that guy who will became dangerous - but not TOO dangerous, he would be just the right opponent for Raven. I always though all those anime where several teenagers are only chance of Earth are stupid. If I will be doing the recruiting, I wouldn't stop before one hundred. Imagine if the damage will take form of permanent always-open connection between the two sides big enough for siege engines to go through. Due to situation involving lot of magic, Raven might get opportunity to save US from the invaders from other dimensions. I hope so. I'd hate to think that magic is only amusing itself by giving teenagers an impossible task. The flair of dramatic suggest they DO have some chance, but not big.
  18. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

I'm not ignoring it. But good point. I assumed Pandora is trying to change the rule (possibly because it's one of rules which can change in magic reset), but this is much simpler: by making magic widespread enough, EVERY situation will involve magic, which makes the rule not relevant. Also, it matches the way she is bending other rules. I doubt the immortals has a special law that stops elves from joining an organization such as DGB, but they do have the law that forbids immortals from interfering by using magic. It's not unlikely that there are some further details such as a limit on what information they are allowed to divulge about magic. The human ancestry is probably what gives elves slightly more leeway when it comes to using their abilities. On this page Adrian explains that: Given limits like these Adrian would be of little use for the organization. His longevity might be seen as an asset as he could make sure that long term plans does not get distorted, but that's about all I can think of at the moment. Apart from that I can see how working for DGB would put limits on his personal freedom, while doing nothing to lift the limitations he's under from immortal law. As far as I remember it has been said that even as a civilian DGB will help him maintain his identity to keep people from noticing that he doesn't age at the same rate as a normal human. Of course it's not SPECIFIC rule against joining DGB. The rule is probably worded exactly or very close to what Raven says. And yes, if we accept the first possibility, it is clear how Raven would be of little use ; I was explaining how useful he would be IF the rule WOULDN'T be from immortals. As Captain Obvious said, he is given more free hand than immortals themselves because he's only half immortal.
  19. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

There's another concern. An area can be very comfortable with a certain flow of water, but if that flow is blocked so there's a buildup and then the buildup is released it can be extremely damaging. (Think of a dam breaking.) Is the same true of magic? I'm sure sudden release of the buildup will be more damaging than dam breaking ... hey, maybe THAT is what Pandora is planing ... Note that the water metaphor suggests possible scenarios of how the flow of magic balances itself: what will happen if water flow is blocked somewhere? Well, the water will build up there until it reaches level which allows to either go over the blockade (possibly damaging the blockage in the process) or it can flow some other way, leaving a pond. The going over the blockade is the sudden flashy option. Finding of another way, while possibly also damaging, can be smooth. Agree. No real proof but it makes sense. Luckily, stars are very predictable, I'm sure we will know in advance. Magic, on the other hand ...
  20. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

While we don't really know enough about EGS world to decide if it's more like this - world-wide organization which infiltrated every government secret services - instead of what I assume - lot of countries having their own organizations which have secret agreements between them mimicking the official agreements between countries - there is a big problem I mentioned which this theory doesn't solve: There will be need for some unit of mages to do the "covertly stopping" of Hitler (or any other government) from using mages. This unit would be perceived as "good" and therefore exempt from any rule forbidding using magic and special abilities. Therefore, Raven could easily fulfill his dream of protecting people by fighting by JOINING THIS UNIT. In fact, it would fulfill that dream EVEN BETTER than joining a military of specific country. Actually, I see only three possible reasons why Raven is not part of DGB right now: 1) The rules are from immortals. 2) The rules are part of international agreements between DGB-like organizations - but such agreement will likely be temporary lifted in World Wars. 3) DGB is much more corrupt than it seems and Raven don't consider joining them safe, or maybe the top level command of DGB are racist speciest and don't want him - but, really, this has negative support in comics, in fact the comics goes out of the way to propagate the idea that DGB are almost unrealistically good. (If it wouldn't be obvious that Dan don't want to go this direction, I would expect this is preparation to big reveal of DGB as main antagonist.)
  21. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

We got this evidence to suggest openly say that it IS immortal rules. To summarize: Abraham, whose knowledge of modern world is so bad he doesn't know Lord of the Rings, IMMEDIATELY after learning that Raven is elf states that he can't fight him directly. Raven's reply then proves that Abraham doesn't really understand that rule either, BUT the way he continues makes obvious that yes, his limitations are caused by the fact he is elf. Also, DGB is US-based organization. Raven was forbidden to serve in military of United States, England, France and Germany, based on what Pandora said. (Might not be complete list.) Given his age, that likely includes at least one side of World War II (possibly both. World Wars AND sides.) - and I'm sure Hitler WOULD utilize mages (hell, there are theories he DID in OUR world) and DGB, if it already existed, would need to counter with it's own mages, so no way would someone from government forbid him to fight. (US was so desperate it used nuclear weapons when the war looked almost won. Anyone suggesting they SHOULDN'T use some weapon they had before day D would likely be shot as traitor.)
  22. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

There is a possibility that Nioi might have originated from the other half of Lord Tedd's world, maybe the paths between the two halves are more open and people move freely between the two, same with Ellen's second life reality, could explain Kaoli and the other non-human, non-chimera types in that world. It just happens to be rarer that people travel between the two halves in this reality. Also good idea. While we have no idea what Kaoli is and only magic she used without tools was transformation (well ... and the nose beep), she doesn't seem to be chimera and seem to be compatible with earth magic. While it's possible the Tedd's half contain her species, being from the half which contain griffins in case of EGS main 'verse would be more likely. The travelling doesn't even need to be that much more common - the griffins doesn't seem like visiting unknown area, it's likely that other visits is or maybe was happening. (I don't see any conflict with my idea, so I assume there wasn't meant to be any.)
  23. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

Not sure how, I would imagine that any regulation that is in place in the griffin's half of the world probably took years and possibly bloodshed to put in place, or maybe something catastrophic happened that made everyone go "...Yeah, we gotta do something so this doesn't happen again". I don't expect regulation in the main eight's half of the world to go through easily, especially if there's the same political uneasiness there is in our world. It would be pretty bad, but then Adrian would be able to fight for his country without restrictions. As I said, I imagine the regulations on griffin's half of world are ALSO based on secrecy. They just never tried to make the existence of magic itself secret. I assumed Adrian is not able to fight for his country due to rules placed on elves by immortals. I mainly mean balance as in proper flow of magic between the halves keeping magic equal between both halves. ... I mentioned that one, but that one is not related to magic going mainstream.
  24. NP Friday March 18, 2016

Nothing against the comics itself (I DO think it's funny), but it doesn't really feel as part of the storyline. Obviously, it serves as a way to specify time, but ... there should've at least been Tedd's "sexy stuff is happening" senses tingling ... You should understand. The clan comes first, everything else is secondary. Technically, yes. Practically, everyone was surprised on the championship, suggesting he was NOT changing hair before. It was supposed to be shocking. Maybe I just forgot myself, but I don't think there are any rules in chess besides initial position and how the pieces move. ... and we have confirmation from someone who knows how to play chess ... the Fritz 13
  25. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

That's what I assumed too, but if it was her, how is she doing it? There are limits on what Immortals can do, and Pandora follows those rules because if she didn't, it'd be boringly easy for her and she'd likely also get found out by other Immortals. It definitely seems like too much of coincidence for her to NOT have something to do with it ... but it's still open question if she does it directly or indirectly, and if indirectly how.
