This strip and thread got me thinking about Grace's cover story... On the one hand, it would be easier to remember and give people a better understanding of Grace if the cover story was as close to the truth as possible without breaking the masqurade (I'm not sure how you'd deal with the childhood in a lab part, but the "raised by an abusive kidnapper" part works fine if you leave out his powers and plans for world domination). On the other hand, it wouldn't really be fair to expect Grace to tell everyone she was abused, and I'm glad Mr. Verres didn't ask that of her.
-
Well, yes. I was only referring to the end of stories, not the end of story chapters.

http://egscomics.com/comic/tsos-31 ...Actually Grace, I'm pretty sure Pandora didn't make the stars (or become the stars, or anything like that).
-
Well, I don't know if this was planned by the creators of the Crypt (it might just be how they write), but it's not written in English or apparently any language Sarah and Nanase are both familiar with. There's thus the chance of a miss-communication leading to Sarah selecting the wrong setting on the dial...

The way I remember it, he's ended almost all the main-comic stories (and occasionally NP stories as well) for a number of years with "[story title] - The End". Of course, he also likes to do epilogues. This could be the end of the climax of "The Secret of Sam", with the rest of the story devoted to wrapping things up and setting up future plot threads.
-
Ooohhh, those lights! And here I thought we were about to have a re-enactment of that scene in the Lion King where Timone, Pumba, and Simba argue about what stars are.
-
It just occurred to me you forgot an important event yesterday: 2002 - The first strip of a webcomic we're all familiar with was posted.

I spent three and a half hours today snowblowing and shoveling, and it's still snowing. I think I'll get the rest of it tomorrow morning....

Sketchbook Thursday January 17, 2019 (Matching Color Balance)
ChronosCat replied to Stature's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
So it turns out I like two people being made (almost?) physically identical even more than two people being made almost physically identical except for color. Now I really wish Dan had gone this route (perhaps with not-really-there floating name tags or something in strips where it would be too confusing). -
So he cried constantly for seven and a half years, until Spider-man was created?

So, apparently Grace thinks there's something off about Sam's voice, or maybe she has some sense even without her antennae that makes her feel something is wrong. My guesses: - Sam has started taking hormones, and it's affecting his voice. (While this is the most mundane answer, I seem to recall indications Sam lives with his family who don't know about him being transgender, so that would make this option unlikely.) - The Sam we know has a near-identical twin (possibly one who is a non-transgender male), and they both sometimes use the "Sam" name. This is the twin. - Someone with nefarious purposes is masqurading as Sam. (...To pick up Sam's comics? Okay, the plot here is not immediately obvious.) Hey, take it to the pacing thread! I think she deliberately let out her antennae to find out what's going on. And I think what Grace finds out is what is going to affect the situation.

Sketchbook Tuesday January 8, 2019 (NP Colored 010419)

Maybe people were getting to graphic with the shipping? -
I see your point; the only pre-US governments which could be said to have any continuity with the modern US government would be the colonial governments (particularly the British-affiliated ones). It just wasn't originally clear to me that was what you meant, and Native American civilizations are ignored or forgotten so much that I like to remind people about them whenever it seems like that might be happening.
-
That depends on how you define "nation". There were some city-states, as well as the Iroquois Confederacy... And actually the term "nation" is often used to describe Native American tribes (and not just modern ones). Also, outside of what is now the US there have been various Pre-Columbian empires in the Americas, such as the Aztec and Inca.

http://egscomics.com/egsnp/nanasecraft-34 Those maid outfits (in addition to the cavewoman outfits) almost makes not seeing what they're really wearing worth it for me. (I'm still anxious for the British CGI dude to be sacked, though.)

http://egscomics.com/comic/tsos-23 [space for spoilers] Wouldn't getting a customer's number from the store's records for personal reasons be against the store's rules? At the very least, it feels like an invasion of privacy.

Behold! An extremely old and out of date behind-the-scenes comic. A few ten-year-old images with blue pencil lines left in. A couple of rejected panels, with in-image commentary. An image actually titled "behind the scenes". Also, searching for these I ran across but didn't bother getting the links for a font test and some experiments from the transition from landscape to portrait format. Interestingly, besides the recent color-palette tests, I couldn't find any behind-the-scenes material more recent than 2011.

Sketchbook Thursday January 3, 2019 (Topsy Turvy)
ChronosCat replied to Stature's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
Yay for radiating heart background! And the starburst too, I suppose, but we've seen that a zillion times already; it's gotten old. -
She said she was going to get Sarah's clothes back in the last strip. Their dialog in this strip strongly implies (and in my opinion only makes sense if) Sarah has now gotten dressed.
-
I really like Sarah's outfit, but I'm a bit annoyed by the hints Dan's been making over on Patreon that he's going to continue to draw her in that outfit. I want the images in the comic to actually represent what happens in the story! (Of course, if her clothes were somehow transformed, I wouldn't mind that - I just don't get the impression that's where he's going with this.) Oh well. Anyway, yay for starburst background in panel three!
-
I admit I had forgotten that (I only remembered the point where she was not very happy with Sam just like she's not happy with Ashley, all because she thinks Sarah and Elliot got over their breakup too quickly). Still, I could see Grace seeing this pep-talk as inspiration to double-down on the "be encouraging" plan.
-
With her prominence in Goonmanji 2, I'd consider Hanma's appearance in Sister 3 a cameo rather than a one-off or extra. Also, the fact that Dan decided to make her canon prior to that (as much as is possible without showing her in a canon comic) makes me suspect she'll appear in the main comic again at some point, with more of a role to play. I love that when it comes to EGS we can say something is "only five years" ago.

Sketchbook Wednesday December 26, 2018 (Game Night)
ChronosCat replied to Stature's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
I seem to recall Dan saying that Goonmanji 3 would all guys (or at least male-presenting prior to transformation hijinks). I would assume Elliot & Justin would be in it, probably Tedd as well, and the 4th slot could be filled with one of their male friends/romantic interests (maybe Luke?). Maybe if they've gotten a little more development by then, "The Parents" could be Goonmanji 4? (Of course, based on Goonmanji 2, it would probably only be 4 players, so technically Edward, the Dunkels, and Mrs. Kitsune would be enough...) -
Yay for circles-and-starburst background in panel seven! Or maybe she'll decide it's her duty to talk to both of them in a supportive manner without telling Sarah why she's suddenly so supportive, and (probably in private) hint to Sam without being pushy that he should tell Sarah. (Which isn't so far off from what I expected her to do in the first place.)

Given the context, I'd say "we've".
