The previous pic is part of Mrs. Prof's semi-nightly ritual. When she gets home with enough time, she'll go through an entire scratch & pet session with Baker. He loves it when she scratches him under the neck. It almost looks like he's achieved cat nirvana. When I scratch him under the neck, I put my hands at risk.

Will do. However, don't forget Baker. He's still Mrs. Prof's favorite, as this lounging picture will show:

We did have one bit of progress today: we found a ball of pee in one of the litter boxes outside of his main one, and no bed pee so far. Result!
-
Is there any way that the forum data can be backed up in the event that this causes another crash? I certainly hope so ...

Mrs. Prof is still letting Loudmouth out. Here's a picture of him in his favorite resting spot in the master bedroom: This is a folded-up bed comforter. For some reason, he never pees on it.

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

9:36 a.m. CDT 20170731. I seem to have regained my speech capabilities, at the cost of my vision. I've got nasty double vision today. Makes it hard to type. I don't know if I'm going to get anything done one this chronicle of my situation today. Make that not much at all. -

9:59 p.m. CDT 20170730. This has been a grueling day, thanks to Lyrica. My brain only works on paper or on computers, but its conversational centers have been shot to hell. I've warned Mrs. Prof that she may have to advocate for me on Wednesday at pain management doctor #3's appointment. I've also urged her to get a medical power of attorney and fill it out. She's done it before, sad to say, for her mother when she was in decline.. I've had to take sleep breaks of varying lengths in order to keep myself going, so to speak. I've got a rather important straw poll going over in my Team thread in the Ubergroup forum. I've had to call on the number counting skills of my Moderator to back me up. Anyway, all of this is a result of the Lyrica. It's not doing its job on the metatarsal pain. All it's doing is making me a zombie (and probably making me gain weight). It's got until Friday to get its act together. If it isn't working by then, I go off of it and we do an MRI of my left foot. -
Nope, it was just a glancing blow of the handle off of the glass of the door. It's happened once before. I made sure it wouldn't happen again (or at least until Mrs. Prof leans it against the planter table just right again).

The Green Hornet, complete with Bruce Lee as Kato. "The Green Hornet and the Firebug" was the name of the episode, I think.

That's a lot to digest at once. Mrs. Prof is asleep—let me talk it over with her in the morning. I like the enzyme cleaner idea. The carpet runner is a bit more problematic, since he's peed in several spots across a king sized bed. It might work on a smaller bed in the cat room, though. Isolating the master bedroom is impossible, because Baker has had free run of it for years and is one of those cats who will meow incessantly if he can't get into a spot he's used to getting into, even with Ssscat cans—he'll find the blind spot between them and sit there for his meowing. I'm receptive to the idea of lorazepam. Hell, I'm on .5 mg 4x a day myself. I can see where .125 mg 2x daily would help. Keep your fax machine warmed up. Mrs. Prof might not be willing to go against the vet, but I might be willing to give her a call. Thanks! EDIT: we're already using the Clorox pet enzyme cleaning fluid.

Well, it's behavioral. Mrs. Prof even managed to capture a urine sample from bed pee on the waterproof beach blanket. The sample tested completely normal. Sigh. The only thing I can think of is to get some Ssscat cans and set them up on the bed to keep Loudmouth off. I'm at a complete and total loss. Even the vet was at a loss. Her suggestion was to put him back in his room for three weeks. Someone, somewhere has got to have a solution to this. Please?

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

I don't know if this belongs here or in one of the irritant threads. I have a "MyBlue Wellness Card" from Blue Cross. Basically, it's a medical "carrot and stick" program. You do certain health things, and they put some money on a MasterCard for you to use for doctor visits, prescriptions, and and other major medical stuff (not OTC purchases). I got $50 for doing an online health assessment earlier this year. Since I'm diabetic, I thought I'd try for their diabetic goal. They had a way of submitting your report online, so I went into my patient portal online, printed out my diabetic reports to PDFs, and uploaded them. And waited. Never heard anything from them. I logged back in today and found that there had been "an error" with what I'd submitted and that I'd need to call some number. I called and found out that a portal printout isn't good enough, because it isn't signed by a doctor. Damn. Well, next time I'm at my doctor, I'll take him a cover sheet (from their web site for faxing) and ask him if he'll help me out. They'll do $25 for the first part of the year and $75 for the second part of the year. We'll see if Blue Cross changes the amount as the year progresses. -
Guide and empower, right, right. She's definitely guiding. Is there (or will there be) an ulterior motive to her guidance, though? You mention the war flashbacks, where magic stopped working. Tedd is a Seer *and* a Wand Maker. He can overcome that problem quickly. Is that her aim, or is she really just being nice to him?

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

2:22 p.m. CDT 20170728. I just did a dumb thing. I've been walking around the house in my socks (mostly) since the last podiatrist appointment, trying to keep from stepping on my metatarsal and big toe areas of my left foot. As a result, the only pain I've had from my left foot has come from my still-healing broken big toe. This made me wonder if the Lyrica, damn it to hell, was actually working. So, I did my dumb thing. I put my fingers on the bottom of my foot where my metatarsals are and gave a it good push. The Lyrica is NOT QUITE WORKING YET BOB GAMMAGE BLAMMIT TO HAIL It's got another week to get its ass in gear. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to continue to do my dumb thing from time to time to see if its ass is truly in gear yet. -
Mrs. Prof called our vet and had a discussion with the vet tech / nurse / whoever it was who answered the phone. Anyway, Loudmouth's symptoms got described in full, including the fact that his bed pee doesn't really smell like cat urine. She'll be taking Loudmouth in to the vet at 5:30 p.m. this afternoon.
-
Yeah, that about sums it up. I'd like the surprise. Right now, I'd just like it if they'd consistently eat within eyeshot of each other.
-
Advise and empower. She's handling the first part quite well. No need for the second part here, is there?

You get those two cars on the same track and I guarantee that they will mash into each other. EDIT: as I typed the above, the morning news program played War's "Low Rider" as their outro to commercial. -
Mrs. Prof had to put Loudmouth into "Guantanamo Pee" today. She was unable to get time to take him to the vet, and she wanted to make sure that he used one of the litter boxes to urinate. As of this writing, he hasn't, so he's been in the cat room since shortly after the last post. We don't understand what is going on. I was out of it for most of the day, but I've made it clear to her that she needs to take Loudmouth to the vet on Friday.
