  1. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

Loudmouth's vet appointment has been moved up to 4:30 p.m. CDT today. Mrs. Prof decided to swap her "work from the office" day for the week from today to tomorrow due to a lady who needed transport for a TNR cat (for surgery tomorrow). She figured she'd take advantage of the situation and get Loudmouth checked afterward. So, today is Loudmouth's day of reckoning—if he gets a clean bill of health (or a manageable one that's not communicable), he stays inside. Let's hope for the best.

    I want my superconducting toaster!
  3. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

Good advice. Along those lines, I've managed to figure out a way to get up more easily—keep my left hand on my left knee and use it for counter-leverage when I push off against the sofa. Seems to work for now. Toe-wise, some news: my toe skin turned a bit red from the Bio-Oil. I thought that was just dead skin sloughing off. Several days and a couple of applications of Vitamin E oil to my surgical scab later, it's still red. I'm wondering one of two things: Is my skin still irritated from the Bio-Oil? Is my toe getting infected again? If it's still this way tomorrow, I may have to consider another trip to the podiatrist for a check-up and yet another round of Augmentin.
  4. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

First night inside: no opera! Mrs. Prof and I heard some brief meowing, but that's about it. He really must have been domesticated at one time. He ate, drank, and used the litter box "neatly," as Mrs. Prof put it, meaning that he didn't scatter his litter all over the place. (He has a Booda Dome Cleanstep litter box with the cover off for now—Baker has one as well, but in the "Brushed Nickel" color instead.) (Oh, and please, no debates about open vs. closed litter boxes—we're set in our ways, and that's for another time anyway.) Baker has been acting respectably around Loudmouth's door. They can smell and touch paws under the door, and at no time has mayhem erupted. Right now, in fact, Baker's more interested in a fly that made it into the house. We did try to get the two to eat on either side of the door last night, but a] I think we were rushing things, and b] I think we were doing it wrong. If we try the linked instructions, we're going to have a hell of a time, because I'm not well enough nor mobile enough to participate. We'll have to figure something out. Of course, all of this is contingent upon Loudmouth's vet appointment tomorrow. If he passes, it's full steam ahead.

  6. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

We're trying to figure out exactly what color coat he has. It's going to take some further investigation in a room with lighting that's less yellow.
  7. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

Mrs. Prof says there's no room in the cat room for a cat tree due to the presence of a bed. However, she was able to get a good picture of Loudmouth making use of said bed:

  9. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

I'm trying to get Mrs. Prof to move one of Baker's many cat trees into the cat room with Loudmouth. He did start a brief yowl session about thirty minutes ago, until Baker went back to the door and sniffed around. That brought the operetta to an end. I'm hoping a cat tree will give Loudmouth something more to keep him occupied. I've also asked her to try and get a good picture of him when she goes back there. Something where he's not doing yoga.
  10. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

6:45 p.m. CDT 20170704. As my late grandfather would say, I can't win for losing. I've sprained a muscle deep in the left side of my groin today. I don't know how, I don't know when, I don't know what I was doing when it happened. I do know that it hurts like hell to get up off the sofa. Put the pain level close to a 7. Doesn't hurt just sitting here, but movement gives me a twinge. This damned orthopedic plank shoe isn't helping, since I'm not wearing a shoe on my right foot, leaving me with an uneven stance and gait. God, what else is going to go wrong with me?

I think I get it now. I just need a list for future reference.

Where may a list of these emotes be found, please?
  14. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

12:55 a.m. CDT 20170704. This has been "sleep past your pain meds" day. I dozed off during news and didn't wake up until 11:30 p.m. or so. By that time, Mrs. Prof had already buggered off and gone to bed. I'm supposed to be on a 4am/10am/4pm/10pm pain medicine schedule, and today didn't fit that at all. One thing that's causing some issues is the orthopedic "plank" shoe that I'm wearing on my left foot now that I'm done with the moon boot. In addition to breaking my big toe, I sprained my foot in a weird way that's somehow linked across several items. There's a sprained spot on top of my foot that's connected to my #2 toe. That's connected to something else, but I haven't been able to pin that down yet. Anyway, they hurt like hell when I hit just the right angle. The Velcro across the top of the orthopedic shoe goes over the top of the sprained area—that's what's causing it. I have yet to find a fix for it. Found a roll-on "Nature's Gate" 32,000 IU Vitamin E bottle on Amazon PrimeNow today. Long story behind the ordering process, but suffice it to say I got the bottle. Was quite disappointed when I realized Mrs. Prof was already asleep, since she's the one who puts the stuff on my toe. I'm gonna have to wait until later this morning for her to wake up and put it on for me.
  15. Trail Camera and Other Nature Images

I will suggest this. She will probably redirect the funds to the Garland TNR program, if she can. Thanks for the idea!
  16. Trail Camera and Other Nature Images

Again, sorry for the lack of photos lately. Mrs. Prof got a letter from the city code enforcement thugs, demanding that something be trimmed to clear access to our back alley (but not specifying what). She's spent the past two weekends trimming everything in sight and weeding her flower beds while the temperatures have been below the triple-digit mark. I'm still trying to convince her to set up a YouTube channel for the videos she took, but she complains about not knowing what to do every time I bring up the topic. I may have to use my own channel, since I'm the only one with semi-serious video editing software (VideoStudio Pro x9, soon to be x10). I'll keep you updated.
  17. Things that make you worried.

Wow. That's a removal, all right.
  18. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

It kind of does, with the "level of trust required" addendum to the thread title and the "confidential" and "personal" tags.

This is why I ask. Thank you for your guidance, good sir.

I just thought of something related to an earlier installment. Was this discussed earlier? Could she, using her paste spell, create enough pastes so that you wind up with an, "I'm Spartacus!" effect to use against an enemy if enough people are being chased or threatened?
  21. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

4:15 a.m. CDT 20170703. Here we go again. Two hours, wake up, two hours, wake up. However, this time I'm joined by my cat, who's decided that everyone else in the house should be up. Crazy diurnal creature. Doesn't help that there's a fly in the house, and that he's hell-bound to catch it. I think the problem I have isn't how long I can sleep, but how long I can stay awake. My conscious periods during the day are shorter than my unconscious periods, and when I have to stretch my periods of consciousness, I risk the possibility of a crash-and-burn, like I had a few days ago at the CVS. Speaking of things related to that CVS trip, remember the Bio-Oil? It's doing a real number on the dead skin around my toe. Seriously. Mrs. Prof had to come in with a dustbroom and a dustpan to sweep up all of the stuff that came off. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Mrs. Prof is keeping it off of the actual healing surgical scar for now, just as a precaution. I think I'm going to get on Amazon and find some pure Vitamin E oil (surprising that I couldn't find it at CVS) or an Aloe/E blend to put on the scar proper. BTW, you should see the scar. It's surprisingly straight. Now that Frankenstein's Toenail has been trimmed and ground back with a medical Dremel, I may post another picture of it. Believe me when I say it's much less scary looking. I probably won't even need to use the spoiler filter! ( @The Old Hack, let me know in advance if I should or not, if you don't mind.)
  22. Things that make you worried.

This qualifies in both this thread AND in the "WTF?" thread. /* shudder */

Oooooooooooooookay. Now, excuse me while I slip out of these wet clothes and into a dry martini.

I got told to avoid grapefruit shortly after being put on Buspar back in the 90s. I was not a happy camper. Grapefruit juice (and grapefruit itself) is one of my favorite things. No can have anymore.
