4/20/19 - Tying Up Some Loose Ends
heroesofcrash posted a topic in Heroes Of CrashTheHeroesOfCRASH.com Looks like everyone's being taken care of... right? I'm sure someone will take care of Miss Sunflower soon enough. After all the trouble she caused, she deserves to have an itchy nose for a while. Dodge tried lecturing Gelatin Boy about being too dependant in the Gym Nauseum storyline, and he tried leaving him alone in this story. Looks like he's finally ready to have an actual dialogue with his friend to solve the problem. B.O.N.N.I.E. was originally going to have a different reaction in panel 3, but it didn't look quite right with her being drawn so tiny and with straight lines. I decided to do a little nod to Scott Pilgrim and allow the digital damsel to make a shocked face made from a semicolon and lowercase "o". Seems appropriate for an A.I. on a screen, no? Don't forget, you have less than a month to enter my #birthday #fanart#contest! I want some fan art for my birthday; all you need to do is draw one (or more) of my characters or make a video game avatar based on them. All valid entries get a prize - it may be a sketch, or it may be something better...! Check out TheHeroesOfCRASH.com and click on the button on the main page for the full rules!
1/12/19 - All for Knot
heroesofcrash posted a topic in Heroes Of CrashTheHeroesOfCRASH.com Necros has escaped, but at least someone's getting the PUNishment he deserves...! Looks like Belt Boy was about to get the last lick in, but Necros pulled a "Ninja Vanish". Longtime fans and archive-bingers may remember that Necros used that smoke bomb to escape from his first encounter with heroes of C.R.A.S.H. (Yay! Title drop!). The first panel was the most fun to draw, and my favorite in this week's strip. A simple pose, but still dramatic. Belt Boy's patented Wrapper Ropes of Righteousness were easy to sketch; I used different thicknesses of pencil tools, gradually growing larger and larger, to make sure that the thickness of the ropes were consistent. My least favorite panel to draw was that last one; Unk is a pretty big character for such a small panel, and drawing him turning at the waist proved a challenge. I was originally only going to have Unk and Jackknife in the panel, but I felt as though it looked too empty. I was going to add in Sugar Rush, but I decided Gelatin Boy deserved a laugh (or at least a stifled chuckle) at Jackknife's expense. Adding the three of them to panel 2 in silhouette form was also a last-minute choice to fill up some empty space.
Comic 2/11/17 - Rocket Can
heroesofcrash posted a topic in Heroes Of Crashtheheroesofcrash.com Belt Boy's used the Wrapper Rope of Righteousness before... waaaaaaaaaaaay back in his first battle against Miss Sunflower. Tying her to the trash can appears to be a new twist, but it looks like this plan might backfire on him...! The sound effects in the first panel are actually borrowed from the first time BB used his Wrapper Rope. I even wrote the letters in green, similar to how they were written before. Drawing Miss Sunflower was a pain, but the backgrounds - though difficult - were more fun to play around with. The anime influences on my art aren't as strong as they once were, but every so often they make themselves known, like in that last panel (which I love!).
