<LOL & Sigh> While I am at this point chronologically elderly, albeit still in the earlier stages, I am definitely not a mature adult.

Case in point, my first thought when I saw the last panel was "Lady, learn to swear effectively, and use good grammar." Then I realized this is the point at which Cinderella's ball (formal dance) is being introduced, she's reading the announcement, and Dan(a) is going to spend a week expanding on that.

To be fair, though, Ashley and Sarah are definitely thinking about Tedd's balls in their own right. Hey, one for each, and then all three are in agreement!

And I thought I was getting good at murdering a metaphor.  Dan(a) shows how a master of the craft does it.

A fish flopping in your lap is not a pretty image; maybe if you are starving and then, "Hey, a free fish!", whereas Bishop sees the ball as an opportunity. I'd say he floundered a bit.

Unless you are speaking of Dan(a)'s actual murdering the object of the metaphor, because then, yes, it would not be a good situation for the actual fish, most of which do not do well out of the water, and even the few that do need to remain moist. To be fair, unless they live in near a body of water, odds are it's already dead, not murdered (and flopped just once as it landed).

Neither does a fish have much to do with a ball. Most of them cannot walk, let alone dance. Hmm, that leans heavily toward 'murdered metaphor' - OK, good call, chum.

A sticky wicket indeed! Culturally, they are siblings of a sort, and the incest taboo invokes, but biologically, they are not, so the natural distaste may be thwarted. Even the surnames can go either way, depending on adoption or not. Can they legally marry? I suspect it depends on location.

Based on some fast google, it's legal in all US states, other than maybe Virginia.  Doesn't make the porn any less squicky, however.

OK, so a squicky wicket, then.

/me Is that a pun?  Have a star any way, just in case.

I don't think it quite fits the category, but it's close.

Thanks for all the stars, at this point I have a decent cluster. Hoping some planets form. I'm saving up for a galaxy. Not sure why, I won't be able to go there, hopefully someone or something can enjoy it.

Of course, a lot of them are blood-red, which means they tend to me small, in the general schema of star sizes.

Now I am imagining a Super Mario type galaxy.

I have no clue what this means, apart from it's a video game thing.

This is not a request for an explanation, however.

Oh, just a reference to the very small “galaxies” that make up the maps in the games “Super Mario Galaxy” 1 and 2, which consist of mere hundreds of stars and worldlets apiece instead of trillions, and which are separated by a couple of miles or less instead of multiple light years.

Of course. This is the way it should be.

I was very clear, I wasn't asking.  But thanks for the information.  I will file it away in my long-term memory, which given my current issues means it will be forgotten by tomorrow morning.

Ok, I wasn’t intending to get into any of the game lore or gameplay, just telling you the minimum to contextualize why the reference mattered.

As small as those galaxies are, it sounds like a lot of game play. How long does it take to get through one star?

There are 42 galaxies in SMG1, and total time to get 100% completion is about 40 hours, but a speedrun can be less than 12 hours.

to be that fast, you'd have to be skipping most of the stars. Is that a thing?

You need 120 out of 242 stars to reach the endgame.

<google><wiki read>  Yeah, not something that would translate in to a Traveller campaign.  Pass.

Well, seriously, you wouldn't think Beowulf would either . . .

Only if attacked by Pirates.
