Which is interesting, since they seem to be in the sailing era.

You can ship things in a sailing boat as well as in a "modern" ship.  Of course, based on Prince Elliot's clothes, they are in the Edwardian era, which had steam ships, and I think started to have diesel ships.

Dan(a) has said that they were using whatever clothing fashions that they found to be aesthetically pleasing, spanning from at least the Regency era forward, so going by the clothing would not give a consistent date. It is, at minimum, set in an era before automobiles were common among the wealthy, so definitely pre-1900.
