We’ve got a whole chess set going—Arthur is a King, Vladia is a Rook(ie), we have a Bishop and a Knight, and the Seyunolu trio are Pawns. Now who’s the Queen?

It occurs to me a bit late that Bishop is expecting to be promoted to Queen when Arthur goes back into retirement. She's not just debating ethics with Grace, she's interviewing a potential undercover agent.

She needs to be a pawn, bishops are not promoted.

Bishop attempts to recruit Grace. 

Grace is the closest thing to a superhero in the story, but her brain gets in the way.  

Vladia must be so impressive that Bishop is willing to look beyond her sister's hang ups and enlist the secret squirrel.

I think it was Rich who pointed out that Cheerledra is a monster hunter, not a crime fighter.

I'm guessing Grace's appearance relative to Bishop in the final panel is metaphorically demonstrating Grace's reaction to authority figures and not literally shrinking.

I don't think Grace is shrinking; I think that Bishop is just that tall; she was bending over in the panel before that.

While we haven't seen her feet, we have seen that she has separate legs, so coils might be tricky.

I don't know.  Some government employees may not have a spine, but they do have a stick up their butt, which does keep the vertical.
