  1. Story Wednesday October 11, 2017

The whole "Because he's a man" statement Susan's mom gave would have been what drove home the reason for Susan's view of men and her realization of it was a real turning point in her development, But yes, Dan didn't have that plan for her originally but was able to write her out of being a straw character pretty well.
  2. What Are You Ingesting?

I dunno, but it sounds like a cost over time thing that gives a distorted perception, many people are OK with paying more for a single item occasionally, because paying for that item right then and there is cheaper than buying a bulk amount despite the fact that over the long run, you're paying less. If you put a soda vending machine with individual cans priced at 50c* a can next to a stack of 18 can packs of soda priced at $4.99**, chances are more people will use the vending machine even though the 18 pack cans are individually worth 28c each and they could have saved $4 if they bought the pack. *The price per can from vending machines and other retail methods varies greatly, 50c is pretty reasonable considering that the vendor is trying to make some profit, but I know of some places that charge $2 a can (355ml). **That's a sale price, normally 18 packs are like $7.99 which still amounts to 44c per can.

Interestingly enough, Ashley's sentiment and Hanma's response in the last panel pretty much mirrors Tedd and Pandora.

Both, because a black American should have just as much right to as a white American. I haven't seen any real effort from the government to help heal that rift. When Kaepernik first took a knee to protest the poor treatment of black Americans, no one said "Hey, you know what? You're right, you're not being treated as equals, how about we try to fix that?" and instead the government's actions only make that worse. This is where the paradox of Race comes into play, people talk about White and Black as two races, but we're all Human, one race. How can both be true? And to even consider subspecies of Human invites questions of which is superior. And most often, those who think themselves superior to others, has to be overcompensating for something, but they're in a position of power, they can use that power to twist people's perspectives, they'll put pressure on those they feel inferior and they'll do so in such a way that any pushback will be seen as proof that they're inferior. It's the same tactic that bullies use in school, antagonize someone while the teacher isn't looking and then play angel when that student retaliates. I think it still applies though, It would certainly make me feel better if gun owners tried to put forth possible methods for curbing gun violence without compromising their rights. But instead we have gun owners lobbying for deregulation of silencers and armor piercing rounds, which we've already discussed that there's no such thing as a silencer. If gun lobbyists like the NRA only want to think about how much easier they can make it for people to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights and not try to solve the problem of gun violence, then there's no way things could get any better. It happened again this past Saturday, and the only reason it wasn't more prominent was because there was no violence, but it still happened. And I think lack of coverage offers more commentary about a nation's priorities than round the clock coverage. The problem is, some may say that if you ignore something, it'll eventually go away. But going back to the bully analogy, bullies don't like being ignored, and will step up their efforts to get you to react, or they'll find someone else to antagonize, the first outcome only makes things worse, and the second doesn't solve the issue at all, just passes it on to someone else.
  5. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

It just seems wrong that the there's more attention focused on NFL players taking a knee, than there is of Neo-Nazi groups protesting in Charlottesville (again), the Charlottesville protesters are essentially saying "hey! Hilter had the right idea!" so in my mind that's more disrepectful to all those that fought in WW2, and that Mike Pence chose to condemn the NFL players rather than the Neo-Nazi group sickens me. I didn't know that it the NFL was tax exempt, not sure if the players are though, but the fact that the NFL seems to have their hands tied might be an indication that those that are corrupt are losing control. I dunno. I mean everyone is treated the same, like when cops see a black man exercising the right to open carry, they don't immediately jump on him. A lot of what I meant is in reference to the general mentality of people, how they view others, sometimes people feel the need to carry weapons as a "just in case" protective measure, but doing so might trigger automatic defense responses in others, so the act of carrying a weapon for protection would created the situation where it gets used. You're mention of obligation though circles pretty close to being like how I've heard people view universal healthcare, "If I'm healthy, why should I help pay for other people's medical bills?" It's always "If it doesn't affect me, why should I care?" but what happens when it does affect you in some way? What if you knew one of the victims? What if there's a mass shooting in your gun-friendly state? What if you get shot? It's probably got to do with the overall mentality in regards to how people view guns and each other in such states, if political views and cultural differences aren't rubbing the wrong way, there probably won't be any issues. But sadly, that's not the case for many states, and also sadly, some people's response to political and cultural views that differ from their own is to act with violence against those who differ from them. I refer to my statement at the top of this post, and in terms of political statements, maybe they are the same. But you can't tell me that taking a knee during the anthem is more disrepectful than waving swastika flags in Charlottesville.
  6. Story Wednesday October 11, 2017

No, but he is the only cat that's bonded with her.... Wait a moment, maybe wild theory? Adrian's cat Max is the same breed as Jeremy, if Jeremy had any contact with Adrian at all, maybe he's familiar enough with Adrian's scent and noticed that Susan has a similar scent. maybe that's why Jeremy took such a liking to Susan? All three being there might be just a coincidence. All I know the attack is supposed to be in a public place so that it had the best chance of getting Helena and Demetrius' attention and the mall is pretty public. Not sure if the clog is there, but we don't really have any idea where it could be, I would assume Andrea knew where it is though. Only possible hint would be the image of a lighthouse during Tedd's coversation with the Whale, maybe the image wasn't supposed to mean an actual lighthouse, but a tower like structure in which case the bell tower near Andrea's camp might be a possible location.
  7. Story Wednesday October 11, 2017

Jeremy? Interesting coincidence indeed, but he does seem surprised or at least plays it convincingly ... Maybe he got lured to the mall by someone, to make sure he was out in the open for the attack? Or maybe he just had a craving for the famous food court, Chicken Teriyaki.
  8. Since Dan isn't strictly doing pinups for patreon anymore, I figured tagging the thread as Patreon would be better. https://www.patreon.com/posts/single-susan-14758468 This is good, I like Susan's outfit and her expression, and the bodies nearby are confirmation of her badassery.
  9. Story Wednesday October 11, 2017

It probably does hold some value, either sentimental or magical, I saw a comment that, while we don't actually see it in the last panel, it's possible he might have that cane with him as well. At least though, he's wearing a tie instead of that poofy....whatever it was he was wearing in back then.
  10. Things You Find Amusing

So, way back when, Tedd once teased Susan for wearing a Trek shirt but mentioning that Captain Picard was suppose to be French but instead had a British accent and asked "Doesn't that just ruin everything?" Well, Patrick Stewart shows us why he didn't go with a French accent, saw it posted on the unofficial EGS Discord, thought I would share:
  11. Story Wednesday October 11, 2017

He knows Grace is a Seyunolu because Grace told him, but he also knew about Damien, he doesn't know how things went down in The Nest, just that Damien was dead. Ellen is a dewitchery diamond duplicate because of his encounter with Abraham. And that Nanase is likely as powerful as her mom and aunt whom he's also taught. He sensed Justin's potential and likely got it confirmed if he paid close attention to the videos after the first fire golem fight, and he has heard about Elliot through Noah. He's never met Sarah, and I don't believe he's met Susan before now. Susan probably think Adrian looks familiar because there's a strong family resemblance, she might think he looks like her dad but she might be more inclined to think grandfather. It's not likely she's ever met her dad's father so I dunno how Susan could react, Susan does know about Adrian and that he tried to protect Ellen from Abraham and also Jerry mentioned that Adrian would be someone to trust if Susan and the others were in trouble. So I would imagine that after being introduced, Susan might mention that. I don't think this is any hint that Adrian is Susan's dad, even though Susan seems to have repressed the memories of what he looked like, and the fact that the illusion Adrian used on Grace resembled Susan, I still don't expect it to be Adrian. Yes Adrian has to be related, but as I've said, more likely he's her grandfather and doesn't even know he has a son. It doesn't make sense to me that Adrian would have spend several years with Susan and her mom if he firmly believed he couldn't have kids and according to Susan her dad was with her mom for a little while before she was born and I would have figured that Susan's mom might have revealed that Mr Pompoms wasn't her real dad at some point. I dunno, it seems too convoluted to try to piece together how Adrian could be her dad, but grandad would make more sense. Something about Adrian's appearance in this comic though, anyone else think he looks younger in his elder disguise compared to other instances.
  12. Things You Find Amusing

Huh....the head shape looked more badger like to me.. but now that I look at the tail...D'oh!
  13. Things You Find Amusing

    I wanna say Roger's become Iron-Badger.
  14. Story Monday October 9, 2017

I think Susan's experience with Justin there proved that both sexes were capable of making the same choices. That woman that Susan caught with her dad didn't seem upset to find out he was married, she was surprised that she got caught.
  15. FV5 is pretty much the centerpiece of EGS, it's the basis for much of Elliot's female morphs if he's not trying to avoid that look. Ellen's the embodiment of it as well as it being her main beam spell. But aside from it being "17 year old Tedd's idea of a hot girl", where would he have gotten inspiration for how the form would look from? Obvious source is probably TV, though I wonder if he'd also look at the people around him as well? Looking back, I do see 2 possible examples of people that could fit the FV5 description: Nanase: Yes, the "Ugly Cousin", people here have theorized that Tedd may have been secretly attracted to Nanase and was hiding it by trying to distance himself with the ugly cousin statements. We do know that Tedd really does think highly of Nanase, and while he hasn't used the phrase in a while, he still doesn't seem to want to admit that Nanase is smokin'. A good example of Nanase being a natural (if you don't count magic boobs) FV5 would be a recent comic showing her and Ellen side by side, they really look like they have the same figure. Carol Brown: She's a local TV personality, and as with Elliot, Tedd probably didn't know Carol was Sarah's sister at the time he designed the form. A couple examples of her being a natural FV5 type would be when she appeared after the first fire dude fight, and probably more apparent when she arrived after Tara and Cheerleadra's tussle. Any other possibilities for Tedd to get ideas from? Edit: To elaborate more on the Nanase statement, I don't really think Tedd's attracted to Nanase in any "I want to do things with her" way, but in the link I gave, he did say how her being attractive made people more nice to her, so I would think that Tedd would probably come to believe that if his ideal female form looked more like Nanase, people would be nicer to him.
  16. Story Monday October 9, 2017

She might not think what she did was wrong, but from the Q&A page about her, she wanted something new, which would have meant stringing boys along was no longer appealing. She assumed all men were like her dad and that all they thought about was getting a girl in bed with them and that even marriage wouldn't stop that. Her intentions at Grace's birthday were to find out if that was the case, she didn't really expect to think of her dad any differently, that he didn't do what he did because he was male, but because he made the choice to do what he did. So Susan could no longer use the "because he's a man" excuse her mom gave her. It might be possible Mrs Pompoms knew about the affair with Diane's biological mother, and gave him another chance, but then when Susan told her about catching him with another woman, that was the last straw.

Likely, though Dan said he's being intentionally tropey with Liz and all I can say is "What ever floats your boat Liz". Also, double check the date. It's October 9th, not September 10th. Hanma likely did, but Liz might not consider that counting in her plan to wait till college.
  18. Story Monday October 9, 2017

Mainly this, Susan just revealed a flaw in herself in front of Diane, for Friday's comic I mentioned hoping that Susan would say something like "You must think I'm stupid for behaving this way" and hoped that Diane would respond with telling Susan about her flaws, maybe mention the fact that she used to string boys along for gifts. Maybe from there Susan might talk about how she used to think all males were bad until she got to know Justin and Elliot (she might mention Tedd but Diane hasn't met Tedd yet) and then Diane would ask how Susan met Justin. the subject of the review show comments could come up as well and Diane reveals that she's the one Susan had messaged. I dunno there's a bunch of stuff they could talk about besides magic. For a long time Susan did hate her dad for what he did, it wasn't until Grace's birthday that she started questioning her feelings about it, but by the end, she was still uncertain how she felt about him. I wouldn't say that her reaction to the possibility of her dad having cheated on her mom other times confirms that she still loved him, but she was on the path of possibly forgiving him, that if it was just one moment of weakness, that maybe she could give him a second chance to earn her love. But then she gets told that it might not have been an isolated incident and it threatens to push her back to distrusting him. I don't think keeping quiet about it would have helped any, she'd have to live with keeping the affair from her mom, and there's no guarantee that he dad would have stopped cheating, and that's got to be a worse family environment to live in. Yes she betrayed her dad by telling her mom about the affair, but he betrayed them first, not telling would have rewarded him for the betrayal. Also I think keeping things quiet would have made things much more difficult when it came time for Susan to learn about Diane, because even if Susan's parents stayed together, once Susan was told the possibility of Diane being her sister, she'd have gone ballistic because she would have believed she covered for her dad on the assumption his affair was a one time thing, and if she confronted him about it, she would likely end up telling her mom as well and so not only would she have hurt her mom, but her parents would likely get divorced anyway.
  19. Story Monday October 9, 2017

I think Diane earned a couple points in Susan's mind, I don't believe she lost any points by leaning against the wall I doubt Susan would have held that against her, but Diane understanding how Susan described the issue is worth something. I'm still hoping for Susan apologizing for possibly giving Diane a bad impression. I think that could develop into some meaningful dialog between them. Just thought of something in regards to what Dan said about feeling the need to make it clear that the form behind Susan in panel three was a symbolic representation of her anxiety. Aside from the form bearing a resemblance to Susan, Dan has done something similar back when Tedd was describing how Nanase staying burnt out for so long was helping her becoming stronger. While the circumstances between then and now are different, the stylization is pretty spot on to make it apparent that it's a symbolic representation.
  20. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

Honest question. What's more of a political statement, Football players taking a knee during the National Anthem, or the Vice President spending over $400K of taxpayer's money to fly to the Colts vs 49ers game only to leave during the National Anthem while players took a knee? There's no way that wasn't a planned PR stunt.
  21. What Are You Watching?

Ahh, gotcha. I had thought you were trying to sneak that one in for giggles.

    Umm.......
  23. NP Friday October 6, 2017

I...don't know? Fox normally runs of her subconscious, so she would of course know what Nanase's thinking, but I'm pretty certain it doesn't work the other way or else Nanase wouldn't have had so much trouble playing Mario Kart with her. And while Nanase can take manual control of Fox, it's essentially the same as being in the fairy avatar and she'd be taking her attention off of the convention she's at to peek at the convention Fox is at. It'd be convenient if the panels and events she's interested in seeing are on staggered schedules, but if any occur simultaneously, not so much.
  24. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2404 Yep, Diane was nervous too. Can't really criticize Susan for not considering them choosing the same entrance though, if she did, she'd end up second guessing herself more "what if she's at that entrance? I should go in the other way, but what if she's at that one instead?"
  25. NP Friday October 6, 2017

Also with cloning, each still would only experience one part of the event and then have to relay it to the other later, it'd be more practical just to get a friend to tag along, unless of course you can get a "one mind, multiple bodies" type ability like Grrl Power's Harem.
