  1. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

I really do wonder how things would have turned out for the Star Wars franchise if Lucas released episode 1 first.
  2. Story Friday April 21, 2017

Justin's theory makes sense because appearance base on affinity is in the same league as affinity based on name. In the case of name base affinity we have magic going "that name is soo perfect, I just gotta give them this" but appearance based on affinity might be more "the people with this affinity needs to be able to stand out". That alone wouldn't make 2 people with the same identity look like twins, just similar enough to make people think they might be related. Magic might have taken things further with Susan and Diane though because of the whole being born 20 minutes apart, being in the same general area, etc. Maybe Magic wanted Susan and Diane to meet one day and become a vampire fighting duo. It seems like a cruel thing to make people think that they're twins or half-sisters, but considering whats happening, if it turns out that Susan and Diane aren't related at all and it was just a big coincidence or magic had set up the whole thing, I don't see Susan or Diane parting ways never to see each other again. I'd point out the fact that Susan and Nanase didn't originally get along very well, I don't think it'd be any worse if Susan were to learn of Diane's past dating habits and getting to know what Diane's like now shouldn't be hard. If anything, now that Susan is aware of Diane, even if it turns out that everyone was wrong about them being related, I'm certain Nanase and Ellen would invite Diane to more group activities or assist in spooky stuff along with Susan.
  3. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

Well she felt what it was like holding Fairy Nanase in her hands, it's only a matter of time before she has someone holding her in theirs.
  4. The Justin/Susan Dynamic

I guess something to keep in mind is that, Gerald harrassed Nanase saying that she was "bound to run out of men eventually" and Nanase didn't really help her case by stating that is she was going to list everyone she's dated, they'd be there a while. Realistically though, that's got to be an exaggeration, the school has a couple thousand students and even if there wasn't an even ratio of males to females, there's likely still too many males for Nanase to have dated them all. Trying to calculate exactly how many would be impossible, at the minimum, I could believe 1 a week and that's assuming she asked a guy on a date one Friday, decided he's not the one after, then asked another for the next Friday. But we know from Gerald that she at least went on more than one date with some of them, it's also possible that the extent of a date with someone could have been just walking between classes and having lunch in the cafeteria a couple time which would mean that Nanase could have had 2 separate "boyfriends" in one week on occasion. If she started dating from the start of freshman year, and maybe gone halfway through Sophomore dating different guys before Elliot, that could potentially be anwhere between 30 and 100 which is still a lot in that period of time. I do agree to why she would have stayed with Elliot the longest, he would have had a lot of qualities that made her really want to make an effort to be physically attracted to and it's those same qualities that Ellen had, the only difference is Ellen has a body that Nanase could be physically attracted to.
  5. NP Friday April 21, 2017

See? This is why it's good that the NPs now have the dates displayed on the page, hovering over the image and the tab shows "2018-04-21" The collar on his shirt is bigger. And if we really want to be technical here, there's now a comic on the counter, and the comic that the little girl was pointing at in panel 1 is now in the mother's (or older sisters?) hands. Also m!Grace's hair looks a lot like Elliot's but with sideburns.
  6. The Justin/Susan Dynamic

I think Susan having Nanase phone number is a bit of an oddity, the way their conversation went...it makes sense that two people who'd been through what Susan and Nanase went through in France to want have a way to contact each other in case something else happens...but they way they treat each other initially, I gotta believe there was some reluctance there, best guess is Nanase suggested and Susan only agreed because she was still in shock over killing the vampire. But I don't think they actually kept in touch until that fateful day the goo returned. Nanase's good deep down, but I think it's possible that Nanase teased Susan a lot during the trip which cause Susan to resent meeting Nanase, I doubt Nanase went into full detail about her dating habits, and while Susan suggesting she was a lesbian to account for her being immune to the vampire's charm magic did provoke a response, that response could have been anything really not just stating she's dated lots of boys, a threatening glare like the one we were shown might have been it. Still, Susan's experience on the trip was a crappy one, and up until the goo, Susan had likely been content to never have to see Nanase again so having to call her wasn't something she looked forward to doing, she tried to be cordial, but Nanase was apparently snarky about Susan introducing herself which made Susan drop the pleasantries entirely and so busted out the insults in return. Elliot rescued Justin during freshman year and introduce Justin to Nanase at ASMA class shortly after, the trip to France was the summer after freshman year so Nanase was already friends with Justin and Elliot by the time she met Susan, It's possible Nanase and Elliot were already dating by that point as well or at least started dating shortly after the France trip. So I don't see there being much opportunity for Nanase needing any more shoulders and likely went to Justin first anyway.
  7. Things You Find Amusing

It really depends on the sword, if we're talking longswords, an agile bat'leth user might be able to parry easily enough. Something like a rapier or other fencing type sword might be more trouble as they're lighter and can be used with quick strikes that a bat'leth might not be maneuverable enough to deflect. But again this is a cultural difference. I was mainly referring to the musket lines, where you had two lines for each group, and they'd take turns firing. I get that they set it up that way because it took a minute or so to reload so they had to stagger the firing pattern, but it still struck me as terrifying that they were essentially sitting ducks. I can only think that the reason they agreed to do out there was their superiors said it was the honourable way to fight...and maybe threaten to charge them with treason if they refused.
  8. More Speculation.

Well she didn't really come across as particularly trustworthy(or sane) the first time she talked to Sarah. The second time talking to Sarah was a completely different experience. The vows should be enough to prevent her from harming Sarah or making Sarah do anything bad, but that doesn't really prevent her from searching for ways to alleviate her boredom and possibly causing harm to others. A proper reset would prevent that. As for being less useful, if her basic nature doesn't have enought knowledge to help teach Sarah how to use Magic, she could probably save just enough of what she currently knows to help. Though I really do like the idea of a freshly reset "Box" learning alongside Sarah, helping each other with various things.

Well we know some of that material not only went into fixing the original TFG, but Tedd did build a backup gun for Grace's birthday party. I imagine some of the remaining materials went into creating the gauntlet, the gem might have been intended as a focusing crystal for the TFG beam. So enough materials to make 10 TFGs = 10 crystals, assuming one went into fixing the original TFG, one into making the backup TFG, one into the gauntlet and one into the glove he uses to program the watches, then Tedd should have 6 leftover for other stuff or to keep as replacement parts. While Edward did seem to freely bring those materials home for Tedd it's uncertain if he's able to acquire more, the materials might have been leftover stuff from a mission, confiscated from someone attempting to build a deathray, or they were given to Edward as a gift for helping with something. Edward's current position might limit his ability to get those materials again. I'd say Tedd has processed it.
  10. Things You Find Amusing

We can look at our own history to know that different cultures developed unique fighting styles with various weapons, and for europeans at one time, honorable combat involved both sides lining up their troops on the field. What Klingons used for weapons and how they fought would likely have worked for Klingons just fine. But comparing how a Klingon fights versus how a Human fights would be like that scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones was confronted by a swordsman trying to be intimidating and Indy just pulls out a gun and shoots him.
  11. More Speculation.

At the time, I think she figured she had an opportunity to start fresh, she admitted to us that she liked Sarah and her vow sounded like she wasn't going to make Sarah jump through hoops to learn magic, her training might be closer to how Pandora trained Adrian (though maybe not as harsh). Though she still sounded like she might still want to play around in general. Choosing "Box" over "Pandora Chaos Raven" is because "Pandora Chaos Raven" holds a different meaning, "Pandora" obviously was because no one got the reference when she tried going by "Box" before, "Raven" has sentimental value in her memories of Blaike and it's a connection to Adrian that she might not want Sarah to learn about yet, if she told Grace the Immortal helping her was named Raven, Grace would likely tell Adrian, Chaos actually seems to be the name given by Magus because Pandora refused to tell him her name, but she of course added it to the list. Of course after Pandora's discussion with Adrian, she's become more aware of what she's been doing over the years and this will likely have an effect on how she behaves around Sarah, also Pandora might now consider resetting to avoid letting herself be consumed by boredom again and make more mistakes while training Sarah

Yeah, Susan might be able to do this herself now according to Tedd. There was one RPG a friend of mine did (it was a heavily modified version of GURPS with his own setting and story) with a really detailed crafting system, for one, the best items were ones you craft yourself, with tools you made yourself and with materials you gathered yourself, basically meant you were attuned to the items you made with gave you bonuses in their usage. But beyond that, materials did affect what the items were capable of, a pinewood wand would be inferior to an oak wand with copper banding which would also be inferior to an ebony wand with gold banding and diamonds. So the more work you put into it, with rarer and more valuable materials, the better it was. EGS could have a similar system where you can have two spell catalysts of the same size, but the one made of cheap and easy to acquire materials wouldn't be as good as the one made with the harder to get stuff. It would really be nice if we could see the origin of the gauntlet, see where Tedd got the inspiration for it and what he used. Looking at the guantlet, I can only guess that the round bit on the back of his hand is where the magic energy is stored, it could be some sort of gemstone, either natural or synthetic, or maybe just glass. The different coloured bit on the fingers are probably some sort of metal, could be steel, aluminum, brass? And then you have the control pad on the forearm which of course would have the circuit board and allows to select from what looks like 3 different modes (peace, battle, unknown). Of course Tedd's magitech might be able to bypass some of the obstacles of crafting magic items; like being able to easily reprogram the spells, upgrading bits to make it better, etc. But there might also be limitations; the gem in Tedd's gauntlet might be the only part that holds energy, whereas with a wand, the whole wand can hold energy. As for Tedd not having the motivation, there was probably plenty of motivation after the whale told him that the watches wouldn't work outside Moperville (which Edward confirmed later) the fact that he hadn't done so yet might have been due to lack of materials that could be used to store energy, whatever he used in the gauntlet might have been the only one he was able to either get from his dad or find on his own.
  13. What Are You Listening To?

True, but it is pretty common for that. I mean Brian Adams sang about the summer of 69, but he was 10 years when he supposedly had a band, worked at a drive in, and being in love with a girl. Being in a band at 10 might not sound as farfetched now, but in 1969 it would have been an anomaly probably.
  14. More Speculation.

I think any story arc where we see the return of Beta Ellen would likely be related to Lord Tedd and would be more of a Tedd and Grace centered story arc rather than Elliot and Ellen, so I doubt it would be a Sister arc. As for second life Ellen, I don't know really expect to see her again. Of course I could be wrong, but the whole point of the second life was so that Ellen and Kaoli would experience growing up with new memories rather than just having memories of Elliot and Nioi, and the expectation there is that one day Ellen would get to meet Kaoli for real, which again lends me to think this would happen as part of a Lord Tedd arc. If there is another Sister arc, it won't be because Magus fails to Ellen to zap Elliot and he has to try a different plan, I really do get the feeling that this arc has been building to a last chance at freedom for Magus, either he succeeds, or failure kills him. Another Sister arc would likely then focus on Susan and Diane, rather than Elliot and Ellen.
  15. The Justin/Susan Dynamic

I was talking about how Justin called out Susan for not having voiced much reason, to which Jeremy promptly swatted Justin with his spiky tail and glared at him. You can't possibly believe that Jeremy didn't take Susan's side right there. And I wasn't trying to say that this had a longterm affect on their relationship, just that at this point they were friends, but not yet close friends.
  16. What Are You Listening To?

I dunno, that recent video of theirs that you linked seems like something they personally felt, teens seeing the world where everyone's eyes are glued to their smartphones and such.
  17. The Justin/Susan Dynamic

The thing is, Susan couldn't have known Nanase's dating habits, I find it difficult to believe that Nanase would have said something about it, It's entirely possible that Susan's opinion of Nanase came entirely from them not getting along well during the trip. Maybe Nanase didn't like the idea of having to babysit Susan and be her personal translator and gave Susan a hard time because of it. Susan also had made a jab that Nanase could be a lesbian...OK maybe Nanase's response to that was that she's dated lots of boys which could give Susan the impression that Nanase was a slut. I still think it was the overall experience with Nanase on that trip that made Susan view her like that.
  18. The NP section update

Yay! No need to hover over the comic to see when NP comics were published anymore! Yeah I'm aware the dates are shown in the page header as well, but Firefox's tabs aren't wide enough to see them without hovering over it as well so yay for having it clearly displayed!
  19. Things That Make You Happy

I know when the iPads first came out, my first thought was "I wonder of Paramount's lawyers shifted their gaze onto Apple?" for how close they came to creating the iconic PADD from Star Trek (TNG-VOY), there were even LCARS themes made for them.
  20. Ooendan

Actually the type of material does matter, it's mentioned in Q&A#6 that a well crafted wand can be more efficient than a big staff. Tedd's watches only work because they're drawing their energy entirely from the caster and ambient energy. If Tedd could get his hands on the right materials he might be able to augment as watch to store energy, kinda like his gauntlet. the quality of the material would allow for more energy, but that stuff's probably hard to come by and we don't know what the gauntlet uses. Of course, yes, this might all be moot if the system changes, then again, the materials might not change, but rather the method of crafting them.
  21. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

Agreed, Adrian likely wouldn't have known about other relatives of Blaike's, Blaike was an adventurer and was probably a long way from home when he met Pandora, and may not have been able to get back to his family before he died. As for affinity, Blaike might have had it, but Pandora didn't allow herself to mark him, remember she limited herself to what she could do greatly. That doesn't mean the affinity couldn't have been passed down the rest of the Raven line.
  22. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

There was something that I forgot, and was reminded of when I linked the comic of Susan showing Nanase the fairy. Susan did get Justin to cut her hair after she returned from Jerry's cave, Justin would have been curious about how Susan's hair got so long, so the question is, did she tell him? Or rather, how much did she tell him? Mentioning Jerry and his vow to aid Susan and Nanase would of course bring up the subject of France for context as to why an Immortal would feel he'd need to make such a vow right? Suddenly there's soo much context that I feel Justin should be aware of, but he doesn't seem to be based on what he's saying. Unless this theory of his ends up being something very plausible and shows how much Susan's told him over the past 10 months. It wasn't a serious threat, but it was still a threat. There was also the theory that Blaike had siblings that, while never had any intimate contact with an Immortal, at least not in the time that Blaike and Pandora were together and then afterwards, the family resemblance could still have been passed through the generations and remained strong enough that Blaike's great, great, great, etc grand nieces could still have the Raven face.
  23. Story Wednesday April 19, 2017

    Susan did threaten Nanase once.
  24. NP Wednesday April 19 2017

I will agree that Justin's face overall looks more feminine and I want to say that Dan made Justin's head shape thinner along with the rest of the body, but it could also be the lack of sideburns doing it.
  25. Story Monday April 17, 2017

There also wasn't a loud "BWAAAAAAAOOOOOOM" playing at the time either.
