Sealed would more likely mainly occur when new sets are released, the rest of the time are probably using the Modern format, though maybe they do the odd "Olde School" tournament for Tensaided. Possible too, there is a fast food place next door, though Dan could have Justin crave chicken teryaki and have them entering the mall food court just as or shortly after Susan and Diane leave. But I wonder if Elliot talked to Ashley personally, where did they do it? Ellen and Nanase had Susan at the Dunkel house and unless Ashley's parent's weren't home, I don't think Elliot would have wanted to talk at her place for fear of her parent's overhearing and freaking out, though if they saw the news they might still be freaking out. Would Edward have trusted Elliot to bring Ashley into his house? I guess Elliot would have to mention that there was going to be a Cheerleadra sighting staged to help his cover, but how much detail would he give Ashley about who was doing that? Ashley was only aware of Elliot and Nanase having magic, if she were to go to Edward's and learn that Edward is Tedd's dad, she would likely suspect Tedd of knowing stuff as well. Though it probably wouldn't make a difference to her as she wouldn't pry, but would Edward trust her that easily? I guess a possible Ashley story might not be another date with Elliot, but maybe her trying to explain what happened Saturday night to her parents? I post my reasoning for why it likely wouldn't happen in the Moar Speculation thread.
  2. Story Monday April 10, 2017

Even with that rephrase, I'd still say the same thing, there's nothing here that says Pandora would be satisfied with just knowing the first purpose and that other ability, just that she's satisfied that Heka is being honest with her. The unfortunate thing is we probably wont know if she was told or not until it comes time for Dan to reveal the second purpose to us, which may not be when Dan reveals the first purpose and ability. It's purely speculation, but maybe the ability can only do so much for most seers which would be enough for the first purpose, but being morally good unlocks that ability's true potential which allows for the second purpose. But yeah, we should learn what the purpose and ability is first.
  3. More Speculation.

On the subject of Elliot, Magus and Pandora. Back when Pandora was first helping Magus in his attempts to get his body back by having Ellen zap Elliot, we all thought Pandora was an insanely bored Immortal that didn't care who got hurt as long as the results were something she didn't expect. Even after she ended her partnership with Magus for refusing to kill the man that hurt her son and then announced that she was going to "destroy the world" we thought she was twisted, which seemed to be confirmed by Jerry's mention of the 200 year suggestion and that the older Immortals got, the more bored and insane they were which would result in bad things happening, we thought Pandora was such an Immortal who was on the verge of insanity with catastrophic results. New and Old Flames suggested that she was carrying out her promise and we thought she was responsible for nearly killing Elliot and Noah and while she was never seen, we assumed she was responsible for Justin's mark as well as Rhoda's mark later in Death Sentence. We didn't see her again until Squirrel Prophet which was when her behaviour started to make us question whether or not see was really insane, she was a child when viewing Sarah, but then an adult seemingly guarding Tedd. It was then revealed that she considered Tedd her Grand Godson who then gave Tedd a mark out of kindness though her reaction to the result didn't really help on the question of sanity, her behaviour towards Sarah in Question Mark didn't help her case much either. Now we're at Sister 3 and everything we thought we knew about Pandora was thrown out the window. The question of her sanity is not as severe as was implied, she's certainly capable of keeping herself together. Sure she was getting bored and looking for things to do, but it's apparent that she aside from killing Abraham, she didn't intend on anyone getting harmed by her shenanigans, and that she wasn't responsible for Elliot and Noah's near death experiences. She was certainly responsible for Justin's mark, but I'm not so sure about Dex's anymore, Pandora has no knowledge of what happened during that timeframe. And to top it off, Adrian hit a nerve that set Pandora on track to redemption. But anyway, the main points are, her reaction to when she learned of Elliot's brush with death against Tara due to another Immortal's meddling gives a strong indication that Pandora cares about the well-being of those close to Tedd, so that makes me question her intentions with Magus. Did she intend on actually helping Magus use Elliot to get back to the physical plane? She must have felt that the plan would not harm Elliot in the long run or else she wouldn't have suggested it, right? The plan would have to have been to get Magus into Elliot, then then touch the diamond to separate, Elliot would be fine and Magus would have a physical body again, if that didn't work and Elliot died or the diamond couldn't separate them leaving Magus in control of Elliot's body, Tedd would have lost his best friend and be devastated which would not be something Pandora wants. So she must be sure it would work or else not risk hurting her Grand Godson just to be entertained. I'm thinking that whatever happens when "hell rains down on Moperville" Pandora may end up helping ensure Magus gets his body back, probably by just coming out and telling Elliot to let Ellen zap him and then take them to the diamond to separate Magus in the quickest way possible so that everyone is happy. Or maybe she can get Magus his body back without needing Elliot and the diamond. It would make sense for her to do so because if Magus happens to fail again, who knows what could happen later, Elliot could be in greater danger if Magus gets even more desperate, and I don't think Pandora would want to risk it because of what Elliot means to Tedd.
  4. Story Monday April 10, 2017

She might not have decided yet, she's at least willing to learn about the first purpose and the missed ability and see where that goes, it's possible she might still insist on knowing what the second purpose is, but then agree that it's best not to tell Tedd about it, maybe learning about the missed ability will cause her to figure out what the second purpose is on her own. I wonder if the mysterious glow that Tedd's produced on occasion is related to it.
  5. NP Monday April 10, 2017

We know Sarah was planning on spending the next Friday with Sam, which is turning out to be the day crap might hit the fan, unless crap hits the fan thursday and Susan and Diane's meeting at the mall is uninterrupted, but I just have this feeling that Diane wanting to wait till Friday and meet at the mall is just asking for trouble and crap will hit the fan then. Sarah's probably not in danger as all she has to do is use the spell and she can likely do so discretely during the "might be date", so I guess Dan could still keep that separate while having it take place in the same timeframe as Susan and Diane's meeting. Justin and Grace would like be at the comic shop running another card tournament which seems to be a weekly event given that both Sarah and Sam stated they couldn't afford to attend every week on their allowances. Justin's date with Luke might be a Saturday though I wouldn't be surprised if Luke returned to the shop Friday just to hang out with Justin rather than play in the tournament. As for Ashley, yeah the obvious is more time with Elliot considering we've yet to see Elliot interact with Ashley in Sister 3, all we know for sure is he spent time talking to her on Sunday going over their cover story, whether that was on the phone or in person wasn't clear though. It really depends on how things go with the Sister 3 arc whether or not Ashley's next date is with Elliot possessed by Magus .
  6. Story Friday April 7, 2017

It was actually Demetrius that told Susan about the hammers, and the hammers were apparently on record for other Immortals to look up. Or Immortal clairvoyance can manifest as a giant spellbook. Susan at the time she was introduced up until "Lunchtable Revelations" had the "all men are scum" attitude so it wouldn't have taken much for males to offend her, all cases would have likely felt extreme to her. Hmm, after her hammering of Tony in "Lunchtable Revelations", have we seen her hammer anyone else? Larry and Rich made her want to but she couldn't obviously, still I can't seem to find any other instances where she hammers someone so I think it says a lot about Susan's outlook on men after she realized that even Tedd has redeeming qualities.
  7. Story Monday April 10, 2017

I think Heka was actually assessing Pandora rather than wanting to know more about Tedd, sure he doesn't know everything about Tedd, but he at least knows about him and likely already knew of his potential as a seer. His jab about Fairies referring themselves as Immortals could have been a test to see how Pandora would react, also line of questioning could have also been as much a test of her patience as it was to get a read on Tedd. Pandora could have gone into her childlike tantrums or something and Heka would have likely given her the runaround or mislead her in a way that would have safeguarded Tedd's eligibility but no, she's been honest and respectful towards Heka and so Heka's going to reciprocate and tell her what she needs to know. If it turns out that she can't fully tell Tedd everything, she might not like it, but she'll probably do the right thing. Hmm, given your name, I would have guessed you'd already read The Dresden Files, but perhaps it's just a coincidence. If you'd read them, then you'd already know just how freaking dangerous and scary traditional faries are. ;-P Just be happy he's not called LittleBob and be sure to hide all the Smint if one should show up.

Judging by the height of the lamp next to Susan, Ellen's hand would have been just under the lampshade which would be where the knob switch usually is, had the lamp used a pull-chain to turn on/off then her hand would be too high. Interestingly enough, Adrian seems to have the same lamps. They must have bought them at Swedekea. Catalina being marked was strongly foreshadowed in Squirrel Prophet with Grace believing that Catalina had been marked, Marker confirmed not only that she was, but gave us when it happened. Even with it being an earlier time period, it still has the same importance to the story as Question Mark. Escape from the Mall had more of a side story feel to it. Ok, seems like I misremembered Dan's tweets, did some digging and managed to find where he mentioned focusing on Justin and Sarah and he doesn't mention using the NP, just that he had ideas for standalone storylines based on stuff that he decided to leave out of Sister 3 for the sake of pacing. Also same with Ashley: Those storylines could probably be NP's but it does sound like they could also be the next few main storylines after Sister 3 is done. ::shrugs::
  9. Story Friday April 7, 2017

I don't think women HAD to be told about the hammers, it's likely they could accidentally summon one if a particularly offensive male made them think "If I had something to smack you with..." and poof, suddenly they had something to smack him with. Susan and Nanase had to be told about the hammers because they hadn't been in a situation where they really wanted to smack a guy (or in the case of Nanase, she had martial arts so she could have easily knocked a guy silly without the aid of a magic hammer), and Helena and Demetrius felt the hammers would be useful against the vampire. Dan did say in the first Sister arc when Elliot (posing as Ellen) summons a hammer to smack Tony, that he had established that one had to be shown how to use the hammers, but went with "rule of funny" as the reason for f!Elliot to be able to summon it. One could then assume that "rule of funny" was the reason Gillian could summon the hammer, but what bugs me is when it came time for Jerry to explain the origin of the hammers, he wasn't clear on how women learned about them, did Jerry literally go around telling women about it, or did he set up situations where a woman was offended enough to summon the hammer on her own? Pandora would certainly have taken the latter approach especially if just waiting for something to happen was taking too long, and even though it does fall well within the guide and empower rule to tell someone about the hammers, I still see Jerry preferring an indirect method of making the hammers known to females.

  11. NP Monday April 10, 2017

Likely the Dunkel's living room, there's a lamp on either side of the couch, you barely see the one next to Ellen but it likely matches the one beside Susan. And yes Ellen has twin ponytails, probably Dan thinking that making it obvious that Ellen is trying to turn on a lamp that's not there would distract us from noticing the ponytails. Marker seems important to the story, yet it was left in the NP section, mind you it isn't part of the current story timeline so it would have been difficult to include it in the main story section especially considering he started Marker alongside Sister 3, and to fit it in the main timeline would place it between panels 4 and 6. The NP is a good spot for filling in time gaps and side stories that are canon but not directly important to the main story, I think Dan mentioned somewhere that he might make NPs to tell use what some of the others have been doing during all this, like we haven't seen Justin at all yet, and I think Dan wanted to have Sarah doing more stuff with her spell too that might work better in an NP since she would have had many opportunities to use in by this point, we've only seen her use it three times in this arc and it's into Wednesday now comic time? So a montage of Sarah experimenting with her spell while doing her part in using up magic energy would be fun to see.
  12. Story Friday April 7, 2017

I think it was more a joke to indicate that now that William and Gillian have male and female human form that they are now truly thinking like male and female humans and therefore Gillian found William's comment a bit offensive when she might not have before.

    Dammit! lol
  14. Story Monday April 10, 2017

Ahh he is aware of what's going on in Moperville, I'm wondering if he's decided to not be a jerk to Pandora because he's also aware that Voltaire is trying to make Tedd ineligible. I'm a bit frustrated that Dan might be stalling with the reveal of what Tedd's first purpose and missed ability is though, hoping for Wednesday though.

I got no issue with the poison kind, I can roll in the stuff and not get any rashes.
  16. Story Friday April 7, 2017

The fact that Noah never knew his mother would mean that even if she was part of the group that created Damien, she would have had to die or leave before Damien was created, if she died, there's an implication that she might have been killed to prevent her from reporting the group's activities to anyone (which could have happened considering Dr Scuiridae's organization got wind of it, she might have been successful in warning someone before she was killed). If she left before Damien's creation, the question would be why did she leave Noah behind? If she left after Damien's creation but before he started killing people, she might not have had a choice to take Noah with her, especially if leaving was dangerous.
  17. Story Friday April 7, 2017

The fact that William and Gillian are letting their child chose their own gender (with at least 3 opportunities to change as they grow up) and have Tedd help set them up wit human forms is a good indication that their child would be a pure Uryuom. And while they did state that the known record for number of parents to a single child is twelve, they didn't say anything to indicate they aren't the only contributors of DNA for their child so it's easy to assume that they are the only parents. I find it hard to believe that Uryuom society as a whole has any use for selective breeding. Though there are certainly examples of Uryuoms collaborating with other races in selective breeding projects, Mr Guyur with the organization that created Grace and her brothers/sister is the best example. But for the most part I think their mating habits are just based on the mental connections they make with others, rather than "ooh that one looks like a good shapeshifter".
  18. Story Friday April 7, 2017

What I've been doing is watering from the bottom, as in I have the violet in a terracotta pot with a matching platter that it sits in, I just fill the platter with water and it gets soaked into the soil that way, I also fertilize every couple weeks with a 24-8-16 blend fertilizer (Miracle Grow), and the window it's in is south facing so it gets a good amount of light. The window is also a bit drafty so I dunno if heat is your issue, I'm in Canada and it was blooming all winter and we try to keep the apartment at about 22-23C, it's probably lower by that window. Vinca is one of those plants that make good grown cover in shaded areas, but it can go wild pretty easily if left alone. Standard ivy is nice but definitely needs to be kept on a leash. The hotel I work had planted some along the southern property line a few years before I started working there, and it went nuts. I had the 'pleasure' of cleaning it up as part of my landscape rehab for the hotel, that was about 12 years ago and I'm still pulling stragglers the sprout up every year. Note that The Shive didn't make that Q&A until twenty-five months after his commentary hints about Noah. Of course, it's also canon that Noah has had a lot of training, and he's been trained by Adrian. And if Noah is a genetic construct like Grace and her siblings, he could have been designed to be free of the usual restrictions on human-flavored magic by crossbreeds. So The Shive has at least a couple of ways to retcon His way out of the apparent contradiction between His 2014 Noah comment and His 2016 Q&A about Grace learning spells, should He care to. Even the Grace Q&A doesn't say it's impossible for a part-uryuom crossbreed to learn spells, just extremely hard. Perhaps so hard one might consider selling one's soul to get around the restrictions? It might have been easier for Noah to learn Earth Magic because he's only a Human-Uryuom hybrid whereas Grace is Human-Uryuom-Squirrel-Lespuko and the Uryuom-Lespuko combo might be harder to suppress than just Uryuom. It might also help if Noah didn't use any Uryuom abilities before he started learning Magic, meaning he wouldn't have any tendency to use Uryuom Power as a default. As for Noah's parents, it's a given that his father had to be a Seyunolu cus it wouldn't make sense for him to want to fulfill the prophecy and bring Damien into the world. Noah's mother though can be assumed to be Seyunolu as well but it's not as certain because Noah never knew his mother, maybe she was full human and left Noah with his father after Noah was born, or some other circumstance that lead to the bitterness and desire to create Damien. It's strange though since Noah seemed to believe that both his parents are dead, but how would he know his mother is dead if he never knew her? My guess is Noah's father just said she was dead out of spite due to that bitterness. And we don't know for sure if Noah's mother is actually dead or not.
  19. Story Friday April 7, 2017

Why would you want to get rid of African Violets anyway, we have a pot of them in our kitchen window that produces a pretty large cluster of flowers within a week of the previous cluster dying off and has been doing so for about a year now.
  20. Story Friday April 7, 2017

The fact that he mocked the use of Immortals as the current name for Fairies "as though they were the only ones" and his refusal to call them Immortals does heavily imply that he is immortal himself. Pandora herself is proof that a magical being can live indefinitely given the right circumstances (keep a low profile, play within the rules, try to not go insane too quickly, etc), the last system change was in her previous life, which would have been between 150-350 (give or take a few) years before she met Blaike, a true immortal could easily have lived through that. Dan's description in Wednesday's commentary doesn't outright say what Heka is, but it leaves it open to interpretation. Heka isn't an "Immortal" so he's obviously not bound by "Immortal" law and the 200 year reset suggestion wouldn't apply to him either. While it is possible that he hasn't been the only one to be Heka, the amount of time one person can be Heka could still be greater than Pandora's current lifetime. It's also possible Heka takes very long naps as well, only waking up when there's a visitor or a significant event.
  21. Story Friday April 7, 2017

I'm thinking he meant the human population, not individual humans.
  22. Story Friday April 7, 2017

He's aware that Immortals used to be called Fairies, how long ago was that, before the last system change, or within Pandora's current lifetime? Did she refer to herself as a Fairy or an Immortal when she met Blaike? The name Heka may be more a title rather than a name and not an indicator to this person's age so who knows how old he is, he could very well have lived through at least 1 system change.
  23. Things That Are Just Annoying

Yeah I just went through a sinus cold that started with a slight scratchiness in the throat a week ago but went up into the nose and stayed there for a couple days. Was taking Tylenol Cold & Sinus during the roughest part and still woke up in the middle of the night with the dry mouth and sinuses feeling like someone shoved a nail into them. By Monday, the pain was gone but my nose still wants to fill up with guck that's still annoying despite being easy to clear without feeling like you're going to pop your eyes out of their sockets.
  24. Things You Find Amusing

I'd put the original song in the annoying thread, but I just can't stop grinning at this.
  25. Story Friday April 7, 2017

It might be a few months before we see it though. I re-read the part you were referring too. The griffins are supposed to return to see if Elliot found out anything new about the energy clog in 4 weeks.
