  1. Story: Monday, April 11, 2016

Susan's reaction is more understandable since she's had no reason to think she could have a sister, plus at the time, she was in a bad mood after failing to gain support for changing the school dress code. I guess Diane could have been more focused on learning as much about Elliot as possible that there wasn't any room for thoughts of long lost relatives.
  2. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

Ok, since you mention malice, then no, they didn't have that intent when they got others involved in their magical lives.
  3. The Association Game

    Get Smart.
  4. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

That's what we were talking about, and it was directed at Justin. Hack asked at what point did he do that to any of the others, and there's no indication that he ever did, so why single out Justin?
  5. Things that make you worried.

So...today I learned that when USPS tracking says "Addressee wasn't available for delivery, item being held while addressee is notified" they mean "we've dropped it off at your post office, it's up to you to pick it up now". When my mom got home from her bus run I mentioned the notification and even she was like "I didn't hear any knock or anything." and she wondered if maybe they would have left it at the post office as an alternate delivery point, I didn't think so because again I thought that the tracking would have mentioned where it left the package but I went to check anyway and sure enough the package was there, and in fact there was never any attempt to deliver directly to my door...
  6. Dream a little dream.

about 15 years ago I was working in a produce facility that handled silverskin onions, they'd come in off the field and get the greens and roots removed by machines and then be sorted by size onto shaker tables where we'd have to pick out any imperfect onions. Normally I'd be at the ends of the tables handling the barrels for brining or boxes for fresh pack, but there were times when we'd get a load where the majority of the onions are similar size and so it floods one or two of the shaker tables, so I'd get up there and help pick through them, this involved a large amount of arm flailing trying to get all the bad ones before they go into the barrel or box. There were many nights where I'd wake up with my arms going as if I had been dreaming about being at work.
  7. Story: Monday, April 11, 2016

Still, I would think that for someone who knows they are adopted, being told someone looks like them should trigger a "Do I have biological family nearby?". Of course Diane eventually did come to that realization, but it took a few more clues.
  8. Things that make you worried.

Well, my worries seem to have been proven true, I just checked the tracking of the package and apparently they attempted to deliver it at 10:30am this morning but couldn't because "the addressee wasn't available for delivery" WTF I've been home all day. The room I'm in is above the door they should have delivered it to and I heard nothing, heck the last time we had something delivered to us, they called moments before to make sure someone was home. I got no call.......
  9. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

Yeah, I can understand that, I just thought it was odd that Nanase being there wasn't a strong enough, I guess we can assume that Ellen weighed the pros and cons of it and felt that she was spending enough time with Nanase already and didn't want to make Nanase feel smothered?
  10. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

That's another reason I think Edward might not have been really serious about it, if he didn't give any of the others that warning, why would he suddenly do that with Justin? This makes the idea that Edward used Justin's comment about killing him for knowing too much as an opportunity to mess with him a bit seem plausible.
  11. Story: Monday, April 11, 2016

People pick up on things differently, Ellen, Elliot, Grace and Rhoda all saw the resemblance while Nanase and Justin didn't, even Diane herself initially dismissed the idea of looking like Susan. Edward comes off as a stickler for details and wouldn't likely miss the resemblance.
  12. NP: Friday, April 8, 2016

I know in Oblivion and Skyrim, NPCs reacted to you having your weapon drawn. I think FNV did as well. Mainly just comments like "hey, watch where you point that thing." I can't remember if it affected how you interacted with NPCs though. I want to say it affected trying to get information in Oblivion (that speech wheel mechanic) but can't 100% remember if it did or not.
  13. Story: Monday, April 11, 2016

Ahh, I don't think Tedd's met Diane at all yet. He might be aware of her existence from Grace talking about her, but Grace might not have mentioned how she looks like Susan or we probably would have seen him trying to get DNA samples or something to find out if they were related. Nanase was likely going to give Edward an update on the cloaked figures, She would certainly feel he needs to know about the energy clog and the fact that all the energy building up around Moperville is attracting not just other magic users, but aberrations as well and relay Andrea's concern that the aberrations may be organized. I don't see her as being against telling Edward about Diane and Susan, but I can see her feeling annoyed about constantly going to Edward for help whenever something bad happens, she doesn't want to have to rely on him for protecting Diane after she took it upon herself to protect her, doing so would mean admitting that she failed. She doesn't seem to be too stubborn about it though considering she's agreeing with Elliot about it, but she doesn't have to be happy about it. Yeah that's also why I see Edward being initially upset that all this happened, but ultimately do what he can to help the main eight deal with stuff like this.
  14. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

I'm not saying that Justin shouldn't worry about what Edward said, of course he doesn't know whether Edward was being dramatic or serious. As a reader though, I can see a possibility that Edward may not have been serious about it. It's one thing for Edward to say something even in the hopes that none of them go blabbing about magic and such, but in the end, these are Tedd's friends and if Edward did anything to them it would alienate Tedd which is why I don't see Edward doing anything except give them a stern talking to. Well I mentioned the reason for Elliot being lax in his preventing accidental transformations leading to someone finding out about him. But also he gave away the fact that he knew other people that had other abilities, his assumption that Ashley might have had a magic spell lead her to believe Elliot knew how common magic was. In the case of Ellen and Nanase, I guess it'd be more Nanase's fault that Diane and Charlotte knew about the existence of magic because she wasn't very discreet about using magic in public. Ellen would be guilty by association in that case. Something I just realized though, Edward's warning to Justin came just before Arthur Arthur's announcement that magic was real. What are the chances of Edward at that moment thinking "Whelp, there goes my circle of eight."
  15. http://www.egscomics.com/sketchbook.php?id=879 I'm sensing a trend from Anonymous. Who's next, Ellen as Kaylee?
  16. Story: Monday, April 11, 2016

Elliot has a tendency of invoking Murphy. He did so earlier in the story when he was trying to decide whether or not he should tell Ashley about him being Cheerleadra and then figured something would happen that would render that moot anyway. So yeah, way to foreshadow, Elliot. I suspect Diane is going to need to get smacked a little to get along with Tedd. Kinda not looking forward to that, cause I think he's still a little fragile. Though it could be funny to watch Diane get death glares from basically everyone. If you're talking about Edward, he didn't really react in any way to Diane looking like Susan on New Years, and that makes me wonder if he does know about Susan having a twin sister probably from any background check. He's probably expecting Diane and Susan to meet eventually. The question is, does he know the circumstances of why they were separated? Here's a wild question, but what are the chances that Edward was there when Susan and Diane were born?
  17. Story: Wednesday, April 6, 2016

I know some cartoonists will give a person pronounced canines as part of a specific look they're trying to achieve, like a person showing anger. I've looked through the archives and the only evidence that I've found of Dan doing that has been Grace but I don't think I should count her because of her genetics (being part squirrel) and shape shifting ability, considering all the other fine adjustments she could do to herself, teeth wouldn't be a problem for her. Any real chance of seeing evidence of Susan or Diane having pronounce canines would have been both when Susan awakened, and when Diane was fighting the rumour that Elliot was gay. Just out of curiosity though, and this goes back to the Uryoum egg issue. But the shape shifting ability in Seyunolus, I can see that being a thing in the case of ones that have Uryuom DNA (greater chimeras like Grace, Vladia, Noah) or at the very least DNA that would normally not be compatible (in the case of lesser chimeras like Hedge and Gineas) and while there's probably too many variables to determine what Immortal, or elf DNA would result, what if the only DNA put in an egg is just from 2 human donors? It'd reasonable to assume that the resulting child wouldn't have Uryuom shape shifting ability because the egg wouldn't need to account for a secondary form.
  18. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

Susan has only told 2 others about the France trip, Sarah and Grace. This is apparently the first time Elliot's heard of Susan being attacked in France and he obviously didn't know about about Jerry and his promise to Susan. It's not that she's withholding the info, she'll tell if someone asks about it, and so far only Sarah and Grace have asked, Nanase was in the "needs to know" category since she was involved in France, but for everyone else, it wouldn't seem important to her that they knew. I would be very surprised if she went to edward shortly after awakening to tell him about Jerry. Edward likely isn't aware of what happened in France at all, and probably believes that Nanase's magic came from the ASMA stuff. Justin's a special case, yeah Edward did imply that if Justin told anyone about the stuff that he know, it'd be bad. But Justin did ask if Edward would have to kill him for knowing too much so I wouldn't be surprised if Edward was just saying what he said to sound dramatic, but actually didn't really mean it. Since they had that conversation, Edward's become aware of both Diane and Charlotte and will shortly find out about Ashley. Luke already knew about magic before he went to the card tournament, and had "scanned" several people there to find out who else had magic, he approached Justin with questions and Justin being aware that he'd been "scanned" tried to be selective in what information he could give. As far as I can tell Justin's done better at not betraying Edward's trust than Ellen, Nanase and Elliot have. I can understand Edward having words with Elliot about the fact that Elliot didn't stick to the transformation routine which lead to his accident and Ashley finding out. But for the most part he'll sigh and remind him to be more careful.
  19. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=1132 In this comic, Elliot isn't convinced that Ellen isn't interested in going to the Dojo. Ellen states that not going gives her more time for other stuff, like getting homework done and hanging out with Grace. I know this was a while back and nothing's amounted to anything from it, but Ellen just straight up said that she'd rather hang out with Grace than go to the Dojo where her GIRLFRIEND is. Ellen and Nanase could have restarted the sparring tradition that Nanase and Elliot had when they dated, I doubt Elliot would have a problem with that considering he's got no issue with Ellen and Nanase dating and he knows Ellen's got his memories of the sparring matches that ended in makeouts so he probably figures she's entitled to do stuff like that. I just found that very odd.
  20. The Weather.

It snowed for the past several days here and below freezing. I drove home from work both yesterday and today in near white-out conditions. Now the kicker, it's currently -1C here and it's supposed to get warmer overnight, the snow is expected to turn to freezing rain then rain, and by tomorrow morning it's expected to be +8C, tomorrow afternoon +11C, Tuesday goes back down to 4C, Wednesday 7 and then back into double digits for the rest of the week, and I hope it stays that way for a while.
  21. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

That's what I was getting at, after Tedd's outburst offering to work on the TFG, Edward said the last time he was like that was before his mother left. Edward might not have been aware that Tedd came to the conclusion that she left because of him because Tedd wouldn't talk about it. And when Sarah mentioned that his parents could be wrong about his magic potential, Tedd said he wasn't sure he liked the idea of them being wrong and that thinking about it was "bringing on the angst" and not being able to explain why. He might have really early on been just as convinced about his impairment as his parent were and despite him working to bypass that (by figuring out how magic works and making gadgets that harness it) when things started contradicting the impairment (his being able to resist magic and disenchant himself, and later on finding out that his ability to see how magic works was in fact a type of magic itself) it probably became matter of "If my parents are so great, how could they have missed this?" or "how would they react to knowing I can do this when they failed to see it?"
  22. Is EGS:NP becoming too important?

Yeah, Squirrel Prophet (Grace's dream, the bit at school with Grace, Ellen, and Diane talking about Elliot having a date, and the card tournament) all happen on Friday, Playing with Dolls, Question Mark and So a Date at the Mall, all happens the following Saturday, and looks like So a Date will run into Sunday if Dan shows us Nanase and Elliot's conversation with Edward.
  23. Story: Friday April 8, 2016

It's also possible that Tedd already considered his mom leaving was because of him not having magic potential, that could have been why he became so withdrawn for several years. I wonder if when William and Gillian came to Edward to ask for help programming the TFG, Tedd saw that as a chance to be more than his parents thought he could be.
  24. Story: Friday, April 1st 2016

I gotta wonder though, with the way Arthur Arthur is running things, if Edward would do that. Arthur Arthur is all about keeping how easy it is for people to get magic a secret and doesn't care if there are any civilian casualties, we saw Cranium's reaction when Arthur told her, I imagine Edward would be livid if he found out that Grace and Elliot's lives were put in danger and his former colleagues were told it would be an acceptable loss if they were killed. Heck maybe that's why Cranium and Wolf were there at New Years, they might have been disobeying Arthur to help Edward. This is why I hope the main eight eventually end up expanding the "Meddling Teenagers" into an actual organization devoted to protecting civilians from magic based threats. There is difference between "you will be punished BY AUTHORITIES" and "you will be punished BY US". Frankly, I see this more like combination of bribe and extortion. Like informing a businessman that if he tries to tell about them to authorities, the investigation will reveal that some contract that he ALREADY ACCEPTED was actually bribe and he wouldn't be able to prove otherwise. It not about whether the statement is true or not, it has been confirmed that Immortals can lie and mislead people, whether or not what Pandora told Sarah is true, the fact is she's planted the seeds of doubt and mistrust into Sarah, before Pandora's visit, Sarah thought she could trust Edward with anything, now she's not so sure.
  25. A new Which EGS Character Are You quiz

That one would be more difficult I think to just lump em in like that, because there's various types of games. Tendsaided seems all about tabletop games/rpgs, and with George, we've only seen him either play CCGs or pokemon. Both Sarah and Tedd play some CCGs, but also play video games, Sarah seems to like RPGs because she's played Skyrim and Tedd like strategy, god games and games that can be modded. Elliot and likely Ellen as well prefer multiplayer games like Mario Kart, Mario Party, Smash "Goons" etc, same with Nanase. Justin is probably an even mix of tabletop, CCG, and videogames. Grace likes mainly platformers though she seems to want to try every genre (see chrono trigger NP story and the Fallout NV NP) but I don't see her being into anything ultraviolent like Mortal Kombat or any of the Call of Duty games . Susan....I think her "Likes to watch" trait would also apply to this oddly enough as the closest we've seen her play any thing was in the "Legend of Celida" bit and she was more interested in riffing on the game while Sarah played than playing it with Sarah, the only thing we've seen her do is messenger role playing with Justin.
