Susan can definitely be cool. Just ask Ashley.
-
It has a few very funny moments, but is otherwise a fairly predictable Disney Princess movie. You are probably not the demographic it aims for.

Eh, Let It Go.

Both Oprah and Springer used to tape in Chicago. I once met some guys who ran a little video production company that did work for both of them. They preferred working for Springer, who they claimed was a good guy and a pleasure to business with, as opposed to Oprah, who was a perfectionist who was hard to work with and slow to pay her bills.

"Mornin', Ralph." "Mornin', Sam." I'm still trying to imagine Catalina's reaction to Susan's question. She and Rhoda may well have figured out the connection between one's personality and the Magic they get. If so, it's not a great leap to connect Cheerleadra to Elliot, if you can accept that sex change is also possible. Liz got it pretty fast. My first thought was that Cat would be afraid of outing Elliot to Susan, but she has to know how close Susan and Elliot are, and how sharp Susan is. How would Susan react if Cat asks her point-blank whether Elliot is Cheerleadra? What if Rhoda and Cat already suspect that everyone at the martial arts lunch table is hiding something? Rhoda knows something's up with Nanase.

Well, she will be talking to someone with cat magic. And Grace has... I'm very interested to see Catalina's answer/reaction to the question about Elliot's hypothetical magic, since she already suspects the truth: https://www.egscomics.com/comic/2015-10-12 It would be especially funny to see her dance around the question to try to protect Elliot's secret from Susan.

I've never had the "pleasure" of seeing it. On the other hand, once I was giving blood in a fairly large donation center. There was a TV on. The majority of the donors wanted to watch Jerry Springer. Dunno if you've ever seen his show, I don't really care to to describe it, except to say that I'm sorry to to be a member of the same species as any of the guests I saw that day.

I hadn't thought of it that way before, but yes, yes it is. -

Susan, like Jeeves, has a plan based on "the psychology of the individual." Of course she does. -
Heh, it does seem like the kind of detail Dan would have explained, perhaps overexplained, back when the reviews first started. It's illustrative of just how much Susan, first presented to us as a total misandrist, has grown to trust Elliot. Imagine the Susan we first met allowing herself to be alone in a bedroom with a guy, no matter how innocent the circumstances.
-
I really want to see where Susan is going with this. That said, I'd have the same advice for her as for Grace: do some small bit of magic, summon a pencil, for example, as a way to open up to Catalina.

Even if Damien is Really Most Sincerely Dead, Grace's flashback reminds me that we haven't seen her brothers or he grandfather in a long time. Maybe it's time? Or are we simply getting another reminder of why Grace is so happy to have friends and why she is terrified of losing the life she has now? Getting back to Cat and Rhoda, another ice-breaker might be for Grace to talk to them about Tedd and the not-secret laboratory he's getting to investigate Magic.
-
Crap, now I want to be able to do that. My toolbox would be much lighter with only one wrench, socket, and one each of the various screwdriver types. On the other hand, I'd never be able to trust a ruler again....
-
The simplest way to break the ice that I can think of would be for Grace to ask if Rhoda wants to see a little trick, then demonstrate some easy telekinesis, say float a pencil. If Rhoda is frightened by that Grace could just claim it was a little sleight-of hand. If she seems intrigued....

The situation must be really desperate if they're going to have to fall back on honesty and straightforwardness.

Has Justin shared that info with Luke? Had to have been a let-down, if so. Still partial to the idea that he's had a fallout with the group I've named "Team B" in my head. That could be a cause.
-
I never considered Catalina. Good thought, true or not. She and Rhoda do seem to be playing with their magic, maybe our Cat has learned some new tricks.
-
I've been wondering about that. And hoping to get a glimpse of that group.
-
I like to think he's also had an object lesson in ethics. The night of the card game, he was dealing with strangers, and was used to being able to do that with impunity. Then Tedd "saw" what he was doing, Justin deduced a fair amount of his backstory and Grace expressed a feeling of violation. That's possibly the first time he had to think about how voyeuristic his power is, and being a decent sort, decided he didn't want to do that without permission, anymore.
-
Bowling date, duh, should have thought of that. I was thinking he'd had a fallout with his other magical friends. Still see that as a possibility.

Story Dark Times June 2020 - May 2021
Amiable Dorsai replied to Pharaoh RutinTutin's topic in Comic Discussion
I can't decide whether the party turned into a rational realization the the change in Magic meant that the Masquerade was now futile and could be entirely junked, or simply the normal human tendency to think "In for a penny, in for a pound." The secrecy had to be exhausting, and was clearly damaging Ashley, so, maybe both? -
And give them something to come back, and contribute, to. I like the "Dark Times" thread idea. Why atomize the conversation?
-
Missed you guys.

He was winding up for the pitch in panel 4. Grace still being in bed confused me a bit too. The easiest explanation I have is that her post-dream awakening was a bit too early for the other members of the household, so she wrote down her memory of the dream and tried to get a little more shuteye. Pretty much your explanation, I suppose. Tedd's mostly been open with his dad, save where there was some friction over gender identity, I think. Since the reset, the paramount importance of keeping Edward up to speed has to be pretty obvious. Besides, it must feel good to be the source of info, rather than the mere recipient. Edward is, I think, treating Tedd more like a colleague than a kid, these days. Tedd has to like that. -
That would seem to be some of the scorching I smell, yes.
