  1. Story Wednesday October 18, 2017

The relationship between Edward and Adrian might be worse than between Mrs. Kitsune and Adrian. Considering how much SARAH PARENTS are shown - or JUSTINS, I think they just caught the highly contagious condition known as "Dan doesn't want to create too many secondary characters". NOONE in story had grandparents shown. When I speculated about Justin parents being dead, I was assured that they just didn't appeared on-panel. Damien would be more likely.
  2. Story Friday October 13 2017

Um, have you ever even read the introduction to the first book in the series? It sets up the premise of the people of Pern being colonists and the dragons being created through genetic manipulation right there. It was not added on later, it was just explored further, by setting a book in the planet's past exactly as they'd set one during the plague of The Ballad of Moreta's Ride before that. ... damn, example broken. (Considering I was reading the book in translation, the introduction might not be there, or I might forget. In any case, there would be possibility of being added later. If you however can confirm the introduction was always there, it means I will need to find other example, which is pity as this was really good one. Hmmm ... or maybe just stop implying it was not planned that way from start and instead mention the possibility of overlooking the introduction ...)
  3. Story Wednesday October 18, 2017

Do you really believe that 'charity' had any intention of benefiting them? I'm not sure people in that "charity" ever saw kangaroo with their own eyes. If there are any "people". May be private action of that single person. She's probably going to end up saying that, or maybe Diane will jump to that conclusion, on Friday. Diane does know that Ellen and Nanase knows Susan personally, they're the reason Susan and Diane are meeting. I wonder though if Diane knew that Adrian had been taken to the hospital the day of the "gas leak and crazed stalker from Ellen's past" and might assume that Adrian tried to protect Ellen. Hmmmm ... unless Adrian spent multiple days in the hospital, why would Diane know he was there? On the other hand, if she knows, yes, him trying to protect Ellen makes sense given the official explanation. We don't really know how rich or poor her adopted family was. My impression is that they were comfortable enough to adopted two kids, they're already putting one through college and they probably plan on Diane going to college as well. Diane doesn't have a job that we know of so we don't know if she's got her own income or still on an allowance. The fact that she has a card doesn't mean much, debit cards are easy to get and don't require a steady income. She is dating boys for money. No matter how much money her family has, SHE personally doesn't seem to have that much. Unless she's doing it just for sport and the money are way to keep score. The family might have enough money for two kids in college just because they were saving for that since they adopted them. Or maybe they just think giving her bigger allowance would be spoiling her. Diane already knows Susan know Ellen and Nanase. They helped them to meet. Better not mention Grace, yes - Diane certainly knows Grace is friend with Ellen and Nanase but Susan doesn't know about that. I would expect that potential is USUALLY magic potential. So far we know he picked following favourites: Nanase, Justin, Noah, Grace, Ellen, Edward, Noriko, Mrs. Kitsune. And yes, it seems Mrs. Kitsune didn't like to embrace her magic, although what happened with Noriko certainly didn't make their relationship better. She still rather send Nanase to the school he's teaching in ... was it because she realized it will be useful? Or because alternative would be having her in same school as Tedd?

Susan meanwhile ... but Ashley will probably be ok with Susan stealing Elliot.
  5. Story Wednesday October 18, 2017

Hmmmm ... people DID saw some kangaroos in USA. Although if those were really kangaroos, they likely escaped from some illegal circus or something and best way to save them would be to return them to Australia, as their population is unlikely to have enough genetic variety for long-term survival.
  6. Story Wednesday October 18, 2017

Wait. Save Kangaroo ... by pouch fresheners? I don't think anyone needs more information to verify THAT charity is scam. Seems Susan is not that experienced in lying either. Best lie is 90%+ truth. "I heard about Mr. Raven from Ellen and Nanase." She doesn't need to say WHAT she heard, just imply that it was enough to convince her. Hmmm ... would Diane really give something if she had cash? I don't think so. She's too used to be poor. Actually, maybe she DOES have cash and is just better liar.

We haven't seen Liz's reaction to seeing the news Saturday night, nor her reaction to hearing about Edward's manufactured Cheerleadra sighting later on, considering Ashley seemed to be pretty relaxed last we saw her, we could probably assume either Liz never asked anything, or Ashley was successful in her cover story, or at least sucessfull enough for Edward's plan to finish convincing Liz. That ... or Liz is able to fake being convinced good enough to convince Ashley. Liz (bored voice): "Sooo, your boyfriend turned into female superhero?" Ashley (unconvincingly): "No, that's not what -" Liz (bored voice): "Pity." After exchange like that, I can see Ashley being relieved the secret is safe and Liz being completely certain Elliot is Cheerleadra. Although frankly, Liz genuinely not caring - or not caring enough to ask - seems more likely to me. She doesn't like cheerleadra, after all.

Her energy reserve is not THAT tiny - her problem is that her spell requires big amount of energy, while other marked people with more normal spells have same energy reserve but enough to cast THEIR spells. Sounds extremely likely and confirms how Pandora can get great results trying to be nice. If a wand can be any old stick, they might be much cheaper than the watches were. I could see Tedd being that practical in his experiments -- go to Domme Home Depot, buy a bunch of dowel rods, all cut to the same length, and use a Sharpie marker to label each one with what spell(s) it holds and the details of how it's different from the others in the experiment. We have almost ZERO information about this. Pandora SAID it's just a stick, but it didn't looked like one ; there may be requirements on wood type or quality which either completely disqualify some sticks to be turned into wands or greatly reduces their power. Tedd, who actually saw the wand, would have more informations even if he doesn't have some special sense helping him, but we only saw Dan's drawing of it. And remember that plastic furniture is generally cheaper than true wood one. I'm not sure about price of wood sticks specifically, but it can easily cost more than plastic watches. Not in the "can't afford that" sense, just little more. Hmm, on the one hand, after showing up on TV/YouTube/etc conversing with griffins and superheroes, I imagine Liz would have asked Ashley about it. On the other hand, I can also see Ashley refusing to give any answers, for the same reason she wouldn't ask any questions. I don't think Liz is gullible enough to buy that it's a different Elliot Dunkel who's involved, though. Ashley is canonically terrible liar. She likely will refuse to give any answers, but if Liz is actually interested in topic (which may not be true - Liz might not even saw the youtube videos in question) she can get lot of information from her just from body language. Starting with confirmation that Elliot Dunkel is Cheerleadra.
  9. Story Friday October 13 2017

Anne McCaffrey is great example, as Dragonflight is quite typical fantasy with no science elements until it's retroactively turned to be science fiction by Dragonsdawn published 20 years later.
  10. Story Monday October 16, 2017

That's the most likely explanation, yes. I was commenting that some others, while less likely, are also still possible. I would assume Pandora's shapeshifting is really THAT versatile, however even like this she can't actually get too far from herself: she can have multiple bodies but close to each other. Meanwhile, I don't think Adrian's shapeshifting is nearly that versatile. If he would look like Adrian Raven, he would have different hair color. If he would use shapeshifting or transformation magic to look differently, he wouldn't need to look like himself at all. Just family resemblance could be enough reason to black the face. Also, Noriko was similarly blacked, yet we can be sure she's not Adrian Raven (unless Raven really can be at two places at once). I think that due to greater evolutionary pressure on webcomics artists the successful ones are much better - especially regarding continuity - than commercial authors like George Lucas, not speaking about what you get if multiple scenarists/writers are writing one character.
  11. Story Friday October 13 2017

SWTOR is solidly placed in the space opera category. Grand sweeping plots, huge doomsday devices, heroes and anti-heroes the only barrier between the Galaxy and total destruction. Most if not all of the technology is no more 'scientific' than it is in the movies and the stories are heavy on drama, chase scenes, vengeance tales and/or redemption stories. Ok. So no sci-fi writer and yet they not only knew basic math but also god the idea to use it. It might be just because I've just read few months of Schlock Mercenary, but I would like to ask if that deconstruction involved destruction and if the holes in nobility were followed by creating new holes in members of said race. The mention of "war" suggest it can easily be that case ...
  12. NP Friday Oct 13 2017

We started the conversation with the fact that we don't know how much wand costs but we do know how much the watches cost.
  13. NP Monday October 16, 2017

Forgot about that. Me too. ... might Dan also forgot? Or did she failed to get known Susan during that time? ... or did she meant know in biblical sense?
  14. Story Monday October 16, 2017

Unless perhaps the last time he saw her she was blonde, five years old, and Tiffany. ... and not awakened, sure. I'm introducing myself just with first name all the time. Granted, in situations where some familiarity is expected, like on conventions to people who pretends they can be friends with someone after hour of talking (maybe they actually CAN. I will enjoy the talk but won't remember them next year.) In situation like this, I'm surprised she introduced herself AT ALL. Remember that he would expect it wasn't him who got them pregnant. I don't think Adrian is good enough to fake second identity (he's barely faking his main one) and he's unlikely to cheat, much less to have sex. There are lot of jokes about girls not getting they are pregnant, but I'm pretty sure no matter how convinced about his infertility Raven is, he WOULD notice giving birth. So, no matter how likely is for Raven to play girl, he certainly didn't have child as one. The option of Raven being Susan's mother father AND the other woman with Susan's face mother father is still open, though.
  15. NP Monday October 16, 2017

I suspect Liz is implying to be too lazy to meet Susan outside college.
  16. NP Friday Oct 13 2017

Weeell, there is Sarah. I mean magic users who got marked with hard-to-cast spell. Those presumably can get into situation where they already had considerably energy reserve but didn't get into awakened yet and the watches can be easier for them that their own spell. ... but she might be strange fringe case.
  17. Story Friday October 13 2017

The movies certainly are. However, it is possible to write sci-fi story from Star Wars universe. I didn't played Star Wars: the Old Republic so I can't say if it's sci-fi, fantasy or something between. Or if it's too thin on plot to classify, as computer games can easily be.
  18. Story Friday October 13 2017

Still, better score than horror writers. According to rules of some vampire horrors, you can get whole earth population converted in little over month. Maybe it was sci-fi writer?
  19. Story Monday October 16, 2017

Both clauses probably true. However, Susan has never been shown in the mall before, and put together with her recent concerns with yucky walls and yuckier seats in the food court, she probably doesn't go often. And if Adrian regularly sets up his table, Friday evenings seem like a good regular time. Susan had to get this Friday off. But, yes, more likely Susan is telling herself to focus on Diane. Whether or not Susan will be able to get Mr. Raven out of her mind remains to be seen. It's obvious Adrian sees her for first time, as he would not overlook it in past. Therefore, she likely didn't saw Adrian before either. However, she can easily ASSUME she did, despite some logical reason (like Adrian setting the table regularly in Friday) preventing that. Well ... his reactions are less than optimal likely due to lack of training ...
  20. Story Friday October 13 2017

With realistic genealogy, people without fairy descent will go the same way as Neanderthals. How many Neanderthals did you see outside politics recently? Yes. He's not alone: ANY fantasy story with genetic trait is underestimating how it will spread. I'm still waiting for some which would go like "There is prediction that the descendant of Big Bad will cause End of World thousand years later - we must find all descendants and kill them - I found two hundreds so far ... in this city alone". I mean, thousand years could easily mean 2^50 descendants if that wouldn't be much more than population of given world. It seems reliable in Kitsune's case.
  21. NP Friday Oct 13 2017

When Tedd was told that the watches wouldn't work anywhere else in the world, it seemed a given that they'd be severely limited in who would be able to use them, like high powered awakened magic users. Tedd of course could, he's a well of power after all. Nanase might be able to use them, but it'd be unlikely that anyone else could. I don't think Rhoda would have any problem using them ... Right, Pandora didn't bothered specifying where should Sarah be using the energy which can mean she's really using energy from most of Moperville ... ... hmmm, ok, it seems Ashley will have problem using them.
  22. Story Friday October 13 2017

But that's a rather large group of people. Unless fairies mating with humans is a rather new thing. I would say that NOT mating with humans is a rather new thing. I'm pretty sure Dan didn't read this article. We should wait when he makes a big reveal and then send it to him. Note that even the "global" equivalent is not THAT far back ... and people with magic might have more descendants, and more widely distributed, than average. Unless his next door neighbor are Dunkels. I mean, just because noone was confirmed to be his neighbor doesn't mean we didn't saw him. Note that while Edward Verres is likely from Europe, Kitsunes are from Japan ... which is an island. Rather small one. And they like to claim to be unrelated to Chinese (which is not entirely true of course). Most common ancestor of all Japanese is likely MUCH more recent.
  23. Story Monday October 16, 2017

Yeah, Adrian Raven has condition ... namely being an elf ... and he doesn't know Susan knows and Diane doesn't know ... So, Raven senses Susan's power and is more suspicious. Meanwhile, Susan is less suspicious because she blames the charity, which Adrian really does for decades, unless it's centuries. Now ... did Diane noticed something she will speak about on next page?
  24. NP Friday Oct 13 2017

That depends on if there's enough ambient energy around for them to work. Right. Although presumably it would take some time before the ambient energy gets back at normal values, and Ashley's own magic might get somewhere meanwhile.
  25. NP Friday Oct 13 2017

If the magic reset won't happen, Tedd can just give Ashley some watches. Those are very cheap.
