  1. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Reminding myself that Akiko has seen Rhoda transform (but didn't seem to know that Rhoda knew Nanase) makes me wonder about Akiko going to the party. What's my excuse for that? Well, it could be simply that Nanase has to sit Akiko tonight. It could also be that Mama Kitsune knows that with Nanase bringing Akiko along, there won't be any R-rated things going on at the party. I also forgot a really obvious surprise guest: The Demonic Duck. It's been way too long since the Duck of Distraction has appeared in a canon comic.
  2. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Grace at least suspects that Catalina and Grace have magic from her special dreams. And given Grace's extraordinary skills in observing physical features and dimensions, it seems plausible that Grace suspects by now that Rhoda has been either been using some type of transformation magic or is spending a lot of money on hair extensions and padded bras. And don't forget that Nanase's sister actually saw Rhoda transform before her eyes. Nothing seems to have come of that yet...
  3. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

That is, of course canon, but I still wonder about that. In the modern world, knowing where some one has their money isn't the same as having access to it. Assuming, of course, it's not a big pile of cash and/or gold and silver. That "little" detail evaded me somehow. But it inspires a brand-new, maybe not-so-crackpot plot theory. Elliot and Ellen's dad is supposed to be an accountant. Well, if he works for the FBI, it follows that he knows forensic accounting. In other words, how to follow money. Mr. Dunkel might just follow Sirleck's ill-gotten gains to Magus. I doubt Magus has much expertise in money-laundering or how easy it is to trace credit-card transactions. Not much application for dragon-fighting.
  4. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Susan did reveal that Little Nase had disappeared in http://egscomics.com/egsnp/2014-10-27. So Susan did re-summon Little Nase, probably so Nanase could feel a fairy in her own hands. It isn't shown, but since Tedd was right there, Tedd (finally) saw Susan use her magic for something other than summoning hammers. YOU WON THE ARGUMENT!! Mostly...
  5. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

No, Tedd observed Susan controlling Lil Nase once comic before and then shared his observation. You're one comic off; the actual summoning of the Susan doll by Nanase is in the first panel here. Little Nase hasn't been seen since this comic with the Tedd doll, but there isn't any indication that Susan re-summoned Little Nase at any time between. I have to take care of something that will take four or five hours or so, so I won't be able to respond to any further comments for awhile.
  6. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Shoulda thought of them. That would bring our theoretical attendance up to 33. Maybe Magus might even show up. He needs to eat and sleep now, and I don't know how he managed to get a motel room and pay for all that pizza. Who else does he know on Moperville-Earth who might help him?
  7. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

As I said earlier, Susan never actually summoned a fairy doll in Playing With Dolls where we could see it. The only one of her fairy dolls who was active at Tedd's was Little Nase. The others were all summons by Nanase, who became dolls when Nanase took back her consciousness.
  8. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

No, Tedd saw Nanase make fairy dolls in Playing With Dolls.
  9. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Thirty-three? Hmm. A longer list than even I thought might show up. I think I will make my own list instead of going to sleep like I should have, oh, six, seven hours ago. Pizza Delivery Person: This was Matt Cohen at Grace's party, but an anonymous but pretty young woman delivered a bunch of pizzas to a very hungry Magus near the end of Sister III. Susan: She can change her mind. Diane: Quite possible Susan will have talked to Diane about the party, and Diane might want to come along to support Susan, and maybe draw off some unwanted attention from Susan. Luke: Luke does have magic, and Justin might ask him if he wants to come. Handy for observing auras. Lucy: Only if Diane comes, and then only if Diane decides to reveal some of her secret to Lucy. Catalina: Susan might bring her along, or she might come with Rhoda. Rhoda: Either Diane or Grace might have asked her. I kind of think it's more likely that Diane, Lucy are having dinner together this Saturday night with Rhoda and Catalina. Zeus: He's going to be keeping an eye on Susan and Diane, so if either one of them is at the party, Zeus should be there (but invisible, unless something happens--which it probably will.) William, and... Gillian, the Uryuom couple who gave Tedd his first transformation gun. They haven't visited for nearly a year now. Van, Tedd's half-sibling. And, of course... Noriko, Tedd's and Van's mom. Or "mum" in Van's case. The biggest reason for them to come is that Van now knows Tedd exists. It also occurs to me now that the reason Edward has arranged to be out of the house is that he doesn't want to see Noriko, at least yet. Voltaire, most likely to gloat. Pandora, if she can return yet. Noah might come if Justin wants him, or even as part of the Raven family (which includes, of course, Susan and Diane.) Adrian might come as, well, but would need persuading. Melissa might be a possibility if Noah comes. Seeing Justin with Luke might be good for her--or might not. Sam seems very unlikely, unless something happened on Friday night. Well, with the eight who are definitely supposed to be at the party plus Helen and Demetrius, that makes 28. Who do you have in mind to make up the other five?
  10. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Assuming Susan comes to the party. Still, eight people are supposed to be at the party, with Ashley replacing Susan as the eighth. A couple of people could be there but not there, like they were there but not there at Grace's birthday party: Helen and Demetrius. Karaoke, anyone?
  11. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Which is what happened when Tiffany and Bets met each other. Doesn't mean things will stay peaceful, though; unlike Grace, the Tiffany in Luann is definitely attracted to the same guy, and she's got more history with him.
  12. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

It's a possibility until Dan says it ain't. Anyway, I expect that Diane will have a hell of an aura if Luke ever gets to see it.
  13. Story Monday, July 15, 2019

Grace hasn't met Ashley yet, although she may have seen pictures of her. This reminds me of a Luann from a few weeks ago when Tiffany was about to meet Gunther's new girlfriend, Bets. It showed the mental images each had of the other before they actually met. Neither of their conceptions approached reality.
  14. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

How about 3/4 Immortal? Adrian doesn't know seem to know much about Diane's mom...
  15. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Let's see now, two generations removed from an Immortal. How many other characters in EGS have that in their resume? Let's not forget that Arthur wasn't willing to send help against that summoned dragon, a menace that he clearly knew couldn't be stopped without magic. Remember, they are the Secret (Magic) Police. I kind of think Dan regrets putting that plot point in. Arthur has gotten very much nicer since.
  16. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Everyone at her school seemed to have seen Susan hammer some guy, but the only one who seemed to notice Susan summoning her sword was Greg, who is not a student, not faculty, and above all, definitely, not Tedd. Tedd and Elliot only showed up after the fight with the Goo Monster in Sister was over. So, aside from the hammers, Tedd has never seen Susan use her magic in canon. Dan can retcon it in if he wishes, but it's not there now.
  17. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Susan isn't shown summoning any fairy dolls in the entirety of Playing With Dolls. Susan has Little Nase with her at Tedd's, but we don't know when Susan summoned her. And when we see her sleeping with a bunch of her dolls in the last comic, she would have had to take them home and put her in her chest or whatever she uses along with the original fairy doll before she could summon them. And, breaking news, the Monday Comic is up.
  18. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Pandora marks Tedd (last panel) Luke is blinded by Tedd's aura. Tedd's hair turns purple (he's a girl now). Two consecutive comics: First, Sarah and Grace ask Tedd to check if Justin has a mark while Luke thinks maybe he should check more auras; Second, Tedd becomes sure Luke can detect marks. So, Don Edwards, the timing is pretty clear, and there's a whole tournament round between the time Pandora marked Tedd, and the time Luke was blinded. But hkmaly has a point: Even Tedd wasn't sure he could detect a mark and said he couldn't detect one on Susan (although by that time Susan had awakened--and Tedd had never seen Susan using her magic--still hasn't.). Tedd says he did see Luke using his spell, but not that Luke has a mark, so it may be that Tedd can't detect magic marks with his own magic--or couldn't. Since Tedd did see Luke using his spell, and Tedd is a wizard, he might have learned Luke's spell.

    http://egscomics.com/comic/party-018 Fashion comes to MSHS.
  20. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Tedd has never met Diane. Also, I already explained that Lucy was the third person scheduled for a Friday-night date who doesn't know her date has magic, and that technically as far as we know Diane doesn't have magic either--yet, although she obviously has a magical aura since Dame Tara could detect her potential.

  22. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

"Nowadays" in Moperville is January in northern Illinois, so bikinis aren't usually outdoor wear. Unless, of course, you have fur, or are Cheerleadra. Could be party wear, though...
  23. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Next thing you know, Sarah in a bikini!
  24. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

Oh, my, that would be sort of like this. And Sarah has revealed she has those thoughts about Sam.
  25. Story Wednesday, July 10, 2019

That would be the safe and sane way to go, but this is EGS, so I wouldn't bet any cookies on it. Maybe the most low-key factor to bring magic into the date is Luke's spell. Luke hasn't met Diane yet. Even if Diane doesn't have a mark, she might have a powerful aura. Remember, Luke was blinded by Tedd's aura before Pandora marked them. Diane has met Edward, Wolf, and Cranium, but the real magic police starts with Arthur, whom Diane hasn't met in canon. We don't even know if Diane has ever seen Arthur's interview on TV after the dragon incident. However, Diane did meet Ashley on the night of Ashley's first date--and the night Diane was attacked by a vampire. I could see curiosity about Elliot's new girlfriend as a motivator for Diane wanting to go to the party. If the Magic Police could erase memories, I don't think they would need people like Edward and Arthur so much. No neutralizers, please. I could see Tedd building something like Rick Dicker's memory eraser from the Incredibles; it's just the kind of off-the-wall contraption that suits the Mad Scientist side of Tedd. Remember when he tried to make a potato into an energy source? But if Tedd actually built something like that he would have tried to use it by now. Pandora warned Sarah about keeping her own spell secret, so Sarah should be less likely to tell Sam without a lot of consideration. But if Sarah knows Sam has magic, she's going to wonder why he's concealing it.
