You're assuming Camdin was marked by Pandora. There's certainly no clue for or against that in canon. But it's pretty clear that Voltaire knows of at least one person that Pandora did mark, which suggests he knows about others and may have marked some people himself.
  2. Story Friday December 21, 2018

Flawless logic as far as it goes. Arthur does say that Ashley needs to awaken first--but how does Arthur know Ashley needs to awaken? Gee, could it mean Arthur already knows Ashley has a magic mark? I'm not saying it's boilerplate canon that Ashley was marked, but it is something Pandora thought about in Marker. Yes, Pandora seemed to think better of it--but Pandora went on to mark both Catalina and Kitty Arthur could even be wrong about Ashley needing to be awakened. If Pandora didn't realize Rhoda had awakened until she saw Rhoda work spells far beyond what the mark had given her, I doubt that a mere human, even a wizard, couldn't make a similar mistake with Ashley, particularly since her power is so weak. If Ashley actually got that very minor healing spell, she could have been using it without realizing it since October, and it's January in Moperville now. Justin didn't know about his mark at all, and was using much stronger magic without realizing it.
  3. Story Friday December 21, 2018

I agree. It just sounded to me that Scotty had someone specific in mind, someone I missed. I myself haven't lived in a college dorm since 1970, but some things don't change. College demands pizza. I actually sold pizza for a little while. Falafel may have made some inroads, and microwaved ramen, but pizza's the real brain food. Ask Ellen.
  4. Story Friday December 21, 2018

Camdin sounds snarky enough to be the guy talking to Luke in his car. Who else do you have in mind?
  5. Story Friday December 21, 2018

@hkmaly: Crunchy speculation! Or possibly it might turn out to be Ashley's mark. Dan had already introduced Ashley. Reversal can also mean healing and Dan had Pandora identify healing power as an affinity of Ashley's.

  7. Story Friday December 21, 2018

It could be very interesting if Cadmin tries to sneak up on Grace sometime... Sarah's mark is (or possibly was by this time; she's used her spell a lot trying to drain the reservoir enough for Adrian to take down the dam) a question mark. It's backward in the last panel of Squirrel Prophet because Sarah is looking back over her shoulder in her mirror. Maybe that will turn out to be Diane's mark. The yellow background might indicate another blonde, like maybe the green background of the magnifying glass might relate to Luke's green hair. I'm sure the shape will be a clue because despite Tedd telling us that it's not shape but area that matters, that's not how I see Dan working. Maybe the power to reverse spells? Reverse alignments? Split bowling balls to make 7-10 splits?
  8. Story Friday December 21, 2018

This amazing insight deserves a post of its own. Maybe a lab coat, too. And nerd glasses. Camdin is the one with the cloud mark. He appears out of a cloud, which might mean he teleports with a cloud special effect, like a stage magician, or, say, a real genie. Or maybe that he can just make a cloud which would make him even more noticeable and Luke was distracted enough to be surprised despite Camdin's lame power.
  9. Story Friday December 21, 2018

That cloud mark still mystifies me. The only spell it fits is Adrian Raven's Murder Shroud. As for Mr. Bendy Guy, in my headcanon his last name is "Lows" because he demonstrates such a low level of fashion sense in the horrible layering in the next to last panel. Meet his big sister Belle shopping for a friend who doesn't have the heart to tell her the truth (Belle is the redhead with a vest): And why am I so certain of this? Because the friend with the red hat also summoned the scary chick a little later.
  10. Story, Monday Dec 17, 2018

Larry Niven created a detective called "Gil the Arm" in the 1970s whose telekinesis acted like an invisible arm. I wonder if Dan has ever read "Death by Ecstasy". It's got a real killer of a climax.
  11. Story, Monday Dec 17, 2018

Yes, and this also might be the next plot point: Grace senses something she couldn't before the Change. When I said her power was "similar" in my previous post, I meant that Grace could sense more using her antennae, not necessarily that she could sense magic the way Adrian can. And Adrian can still sense magic when using his "old Mr. Raven" form as he did with Susan the first time he met her at the mall. "Squirrely senses jiggling."
  12. Story, Monday Dec 17, 2018

Once again, Dan did something I didn't predict. Thinking on it, though, Grace's antennae seem to have a similar power now to Adrian's extended ears. Spicy. As for storytelling, maybe Dan is going on with the dice search until Friday when we discover someone who shouldn't be witnessing this is, a pretty good Friday cliffhanger. Everyone who's into Star Trek at all should read David Gerrold's old book The World of Star Trek if they can find it. If you don't know, Gerrold is the inventor of tribbles. Anyway, he revealed a lot of the memes of Star Trek, like that guy in a red shirt who usually beams down with Kirk, Spock, and maybe McCoy or another regular cast member in the cold opening sequence before the first commercial break so he can get killed and we can find out how the monster works. The screenwriter's bible mandated some kind of cliffhanger before every commercial break to keep viewers from dialing away from the ads that paid for the show.
  13. http://egscomics.com/comic/tsos-15 Well, Dan has established that the tournament is over and that as Grace prepares to fly in order to safely retrieve the spilled dice on the floor that the only other people in Salty Crackers are Sarah, Justin, and Tedd. However, Dan does not say if the door is locked, and I believe Salty Crackers does have windows, so it may be possible that Monday will bring another witness to Grace's latest airborne activity.
  14. Story Friday, December 14, 2018

But Adrian took on Gullet anyway. What gave Adrian a chance against Gullet was the sword he borrowed from Susan. Adrian killed the previous vampire with a superspeed dash; the massive damage caused by the sword would probably have worked against Damien's magic-based power as well or better than Grace's claws. However, given the way Adrian fought against Abraham, I think Adrian would have attacked anyway, so I don't think Adrian ever did confront Damien. Either Damien would have killed Adrian (in which case Pandora would have certainly killed Damien) or Adrian would have managed to kill Damien. It's clear from Damien's fight with Grace that he was never seriously hurt in a fight before and probably never had trouble killing anyone.
  15. Story Friday, December 14, 2018

Probably from the lab that created Grace and Hedge. Experimental animals. This might imply that Adrian and Edward were working together then.
  16. Story Friday, December 14, 2018

Yes. Missed that. But she didn't get full control of that paper airplane. Dice weigh more than paper airplanes, unless we're going with Yoda's "size matters not". Sam doesn't have any established power to sense magic. Without it, he might not have been able to detect using her power on their date last Friday. Girls have been known to nod off, and except when the Demonic Duck is involved, Sarah is pretty good at thinking fast. (i.e, "I wish I was taller.") When Grace brought out her antennae to manipulate the paper airplane in Squirrel Prophet, she took care not to be seen because she knew there were people who did not know her secret in the store. But in the final panel of this comic, her eyes are closed; she can't be aware of anyone who has unexpectedly entered or is looking in through a window.
  17. Story Friday, December 14, 2018

Sam could change his mind. For instance, realizing he's basically putting off telling Sarah the truth, he spends a miserable evening and decides to try to catch her before she leaves Salty Crackers. Why would he need to see her in person? It's well established that all the characters that matter have phones and use them a lot. Because Sam's begun to really care about Sarah and thinks this is something that really has to be done face-to-face. Now calling or even texting Sarah asking if he can see her tonight sounds like an even better idea to me, but Sam started out asking himself "what am I doing?" on his drive home the night he met Sarah and accepted his first date with her. I think I've come up with enough justification for Sam to just happen to show up at exactly the right/wrong time. Maybe it will even resemble something Dan will actually put up.
  18. Story Friday, December 14, 2018

Grace has never used levitation in canon in human form, only in some furry form. However, we're in the New World now, and we already know Grace can do things she couldn't do before, because the old restrictions on Uryuom magic have been removed. So, levitation without furry-osity is a possibility. However, whether Grace grows fur or not, or whether she just levitates dice or levitates herself or both at once, I think the real point is that she is doing something that will surprise a witness on Monday. That witness must be someone who either enters Salty Crackers or sees what Grace is doing from outside. The most appropriate witness is Sam; this is The Secret of Sam. And Dan might be throwing another one of his curves at us, because we've alll been assuming, I think, is that Sam's secret is that he's biologically female. But it could also apply to a secret Sam discovers about someone else. It's possible Sam was the one who sent Elliot those messages, but Elliot isn't at Salty Crackers tonight. And Sam hasn't shown any indication that he has any idea that anyone there now has weird powers. Sarah is the only one he's connected with, and her weird power is basically invisible. Luke might well be waiting for Justin to come out, or might return for some reason. Luke does know there's something very unusual about Grace, and he's heard about "antennae" (probably Noah in his Dark Flying Magical Ninja guise), so just seeing Grace form her prehensile antennae would freak him out. But that doesn't involve Sam; they don't even seem to know each other. We don't even know whether Sam is in the same college or if he's in college at all; only that he's twenty, a year older than Luke and two years older than Sarah. Maybe they'll show up at about the same time?

You obviously don't have kids or you would remember what it's like to step on a Lego. If there's just one of those Danish deathtraps deployed, your foot will find it.
  20. http://egscomics.com/comic/tsos-14 Rich lost the match with Sarah. It is not known who won the match between Tedd and Tensaided.
  21. Story Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Excellent call. PiP3 (Ponytail in Panel 3) could be Sam; even has a left breast pocket over PiP3's left breast. No sleeve pockets, though, but maybe sleeve pockets are just an alternate Fridays thing. Truthfully, it took me awhile to realize PiP3 was a girl three years ago. Let's face it, even Sarah's rack is a little bigger than that. However, the look on PiP3's face is totally hetero male, ain't it?
  22. Story Wednesday, December 12, 2018

I wouldn't bet any cookies on Pandora being back yet, but both Sarah and Tedd got close to Pandora shortly before she rebooted, so maybe Dan will make her aware of what's going on, although it may not be revealed until later. Meanwhile, Sam...remember Sam? We're fourteen pages into The Secret of Sam and Sam hasn't been seen since page three. Maybe he's somewhere else this Friday night, waiting for Godot.
  23. This Day In History

Also on December 11, four days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Adolf Hitler declared war on the United States of America. Italian dictator Benito Mussolini also declared war on the USA the same day.
