NP Comic for Tuesday, Aug 15, 2023 I suppose that as an emotional basket case, Rich needed to be tossed a bone. It seems to blunt the personal growth lesson, though.

NP Comic for Tuesday, Aug 8, 2023 Like all amazing things, after you see them a couple of times, they become mundane. Cheerleadra should be old news by now, no? George has quite the skill at overthinking a situation. I wonder if he could be a future pundit on the EGS universe's version of Fox News? In the last panel, it is a good thing that George did not say, "I can't pull my finger on it . . .", because that idea really stinks. If he did, Ellen would be choking, not whistling. And her eyes would be watering, which is probably difficult to draw. Do you wonder what Ellen is whistling? There are not very many clues. There is no staff, but the notes appear to be a note, a half note down, and then return to the first note. They are three equal half notes, one with the free floating flag, and two with the tied together notation. That should not matter, the lengths should be the same. And that's all, just a bit of a remembered song. Dan is missing an opportunity, He could have a much more elaborate whistling tune, the title of which could be an additional punchline. We could speculate endlessly.

NP Comic for Thursday, Aug 10, 2023 George 'hears a crime', and makes an excuse to run off. Guessing he has a crime fighting power he's hiding? Sure, why not.

NP Comic for Tuesday, Aug 1, 2023 I really like the Larry panel. I am now curious about George's backstory, he appears to be somewhat damaged goods. But Rich, he's an incoherent hot mess. poor guy bounces from one wrong conclusion to another, but at least in the aggregate, he seems to be moving forward. He strives to be merely as dysfunctional as George. Over the current arc, he's made progress, but he hasn't reached 'healthy outlook'. If Ellen and Nanase consider him to be a friend now, that's bound to be good for him.

NP Comic for Saturday, Jul 29, 2023 Are they surprised Ellen is including them? I guess I would have been at that age.

Comic for Thursday, Jul 27, 2023 Nanase learned something; personal growth. We have just witnessed an after school special. And she's hungry. I hope they get chicken. Close the loop, so to speak.

NP Comic for Thursday, Jul 20, 2023 Rich, Rich, you were doing so well. He can't look Ellen in the eyes as he compliments her. Already on shaky ground. He's upset that she forgot his 'challenge'. Dude, she enjoyed running the game! WTH? I hope he embraced some growth.

NP Comic for Tuesday, Jul 11, 2023 Nice one, Ellen. They've unleashed something - recurring nemesis for future sessions. I love the finger pointing. George was the instigator, and blames Rich for not stopping him. Rich is taking him way too seriously, though. He's messing with you, Rich.

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-148 Me: How would that have gone if I'd just posted what I thought of Today's comic? Ellen: Not Well.

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-144 The Minions should count themselves lucky to have fallen into their not-immediately-lethal trap. . . . . . A full momentary gut reaction of concern? How can Bard Larry afford to be so generous?
-
NP Comic for Saturday, Jun 3, 2023 That's the tank's role, you're the budding glass cannon, George. Seems like they should both already know that.

Comic for Tuesday, May 23, 2023 Marik the Cleric is officially out of his gourd. He has painfully overthought this, and missed the key point, his target cannot read his hieroglyph.

NP Comic for Thursday, May 18, 2023 The plot chickens! The cultists, who intend to sacrifice Mirabel, threaten to harm Mirabel, ... OK, how does translating a message free her? Was this a sacrifice to obtain a translation? If they kill her without sacrificing her, does this put them back at square one regarding available adored chicken sacrifices? I'm not seeing the logic to this. Maybe they could spruce up the decoy, make it 'fancy'. There is a connection to Nanase's world in the scenario, that's going to be part of solving this.
-
NP Comic for Tuesday, May 16, 2023 Those aren't inaccurate. George's is not a 'fancy chicken' in the same sense, though. I don't think I've seen anything that looks like the head feathers on the third one, though. They seem to be doing better at this than Ellen did.

NP Comic for Saturday, May 13, 2023 There are indeed fancy chickens, breeds developed for showy plumage or other features. There are chickens that lay fancy eggs, colored eggs (specific to breed), no Easter bunny involved. But that is not what Ellen means. Rich causes a mental hiccup when he asks her what she means, which is a basic chicken, but a tidy one, because she had not thought it through. Are the seven cultists confident they can beat the adventurers? They outnumber them, and the party is level 1s, but they do have combat skills. Is Mirabel at this point a hostage? Surely a de facto one, even if not intended. I half expect an anticlimactic ending that recasts the whole quest. Something like the cultists were actually rescuing or recovering Mirabel.

NP Comic for Saturday, May 6, 2023 Dan has a plan. I don't see anything beyond George and Larry's speculation, so wondering what Nanase's additional insight is. The checker board configuration looks improbable. It seems that white should have already taken that piece that is threatening to jump and king. The white piece blocking the white jump had to move after the black jumping piece moved, in which case why did white not jump the black piece earlier? Now we need a black chicken to jump the white chicken . . .
-
NP Comic for Thursday, May 4, 2023 It's a pretty good picture of a chicken, basic though it may be.
-
NP Comic for Tuesday, May 2, 2023 Well, that kind of breaks the player/character separation boundary, doesn't it? "I want to make sure Maribel is OK." "Roll to perceive the chicken." - Seems a bit over board, really, so I expect there should be a real surprise here. There ought to be anyway, unguarded sacrificial chicken and what not. "Hey, Maribel, what's cooking?" "Bwawk!" <thud> "Maribel faints when you ask her about what is cooking."
-
NP Comic for Saturday, Apr 29, 2023 The chicken is in an empty room. I'm tempted to say check for traps, take the chicken, and leave. Come back to deal with the cultists if necessary.

NP Comic for Saturday, Apr 15, 2023 If you ever want to add tension to a TTRPG game you are running, just roll some dice and then flip pages. It could mean something. Pointed questions are useful, too.

https://www.egscomics.com/egsnp/wie-116 Brilliant strategy. On par with the Grail Knights' classic tactic of RUN AWAY!

NP Comic for Tuesday, Mar 28, 2023 Rich makes a valid point, as Nanase attests. What he was responding to is also is also a valid point, all to often, property is seized from a suspect, and they have to fight to get it back, in spite of not being convicted. Look at Steve Jackson Games. Imagine how often this happens to folks without a public voice. I think she should have said, "Right, I already looted that room."
