  1. Story, Monday December 11, 2017

Could, but would she? Remember this is Mommy protecting her Child. I kind of presume Pandora destroyed the werewolves by giving Abraham the powers to destroy them. Even Bill Gates once said "Clippy must die!"
  2. Story, Monday December 11, 2017

Yes, it would, but it was Diane who cried "ABOVE YOU!" Adrian didn't summon a sword against Abraham; he brought his sword cane to school. We don't know if he can summon magical weapons or enchant normal ones. But we do know he can make murder shrouds of exploding crows. I suspect whether or not Adrian takes out the second comically cute vampire, another vampire will get the drop on him. That could be the point where Pandora irrevocably breaks Immortal Law to personally kill a vampire or five, and has a minute, tops, before getting reset. Or the point where Diane does something to stall that vampire. Or the point where someone else who could just happen to be at the mall intervenes, such as: Noah Greg Vladia (on a date with Greg?) Rhoda and Catalina (obviously together) Matt Cohen (crushing on Susan) (Obviously overmatched) Lucy (crushing on Susan) (Maybe not so overmatched--Liz is as tall as Elliot and I think we suspect she knows a thing or two about fighting) I think the next vampire should look like Barney. Heck, I've always had suspicions about Barney. Do any of you remember Microsoft Barney? He was a PC peripheral who would talk to your kids...which means he could tell them whatever Bill Gates wanted to tell them. And do you ever remember seeing Barney and Bill Gates together?
  3. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2432 Is it just me, or does today's vampire remind you of the Wish Dragon from The Neverending Story? Fur and that wide doggie nose...
  4. Story, Friday December 8, 2017

Catalina is a Spanish or Porguguese version of Katherine, meaning "pure". Maybe Dan will do something with that connection someday. "Rhoda" means "rose"; it's from Greek (but also was a very popular Latin name, yet another thing the Romans stole for themselves. It can also refer to a person from Rhodes, which is named for its famous rosees. And ancestors from the Eastern Mediterranean sort of fit with Rhoda's complexion.
  5. Story, Friday December 8, 2017

Exactly. But the forehand stroke would have put her sword behind her, and wouldn't have looked nearly as cool.
  6. Story, Friday December 8, 2017

Doubtful. No freckles. Dan really did this first engagement right. Little Nase flew into Fluffy the Vampire Snake's eye, then exploded just as Susan was summoning her sword--the spikes are an effect of summoning her weapons, especially the one on the handle. In two panels Little Nase has literally blindsided the vampire, giving Susan enough time to move her sword around for the beheadning stroke in the last panel. That was a bit over the top; any experienced swordfighter would have gone right for an impaling attack, faster and harder to dodge. This is a big reason the Roman Legions butchered every Celtic army foolish enough to meet them in pitched battle with their cool-looking slashing longswords. That said, beheading a giant flying snake with one stroke will make Carol Brown a star if she's recording it. And in Dan's comments, "R.I.P" obviously means "Rest In Pieces".

The most appropriate distance weapon would be the bow; Diana the Roman Moon Goddess carried a bow. And shot arrows that never missed, something she shared with her brother Apollo. However, Dan has said he hates distance weapons.j When you think about it, the most appropriate weapon for Susan would be a phaser. Or, of course, a Vulcan lirpa, which she used in EGS Con.
  8. Story Wednesday December 6, 2017

Prehensile hair for Susan doesn't seem especially likely, unless, of course, it could get Susan out of a jam in a comic or three. Sword-in-hand already does seem likely to me, since Susan summoned her sword unconsciously when Ellen and Nanase told her about the seven vampires, and she might have done it way, way back during the final showdown with The Goo. Also, it nicely co-ordinated with Susan calling up Little wheither unconsciously (Little Nase is mirroring Susan's feelings) or for recon and air support. Or both. Or Golden Darkness from To Love Ru. Wasn't she just the cutest alien assassin ever? Say, who exactly is that screaming about a monster? The screaming girl with raccoons in her attic? Sandi? Tony? I vote for Tony because it would be the funniest and most deserving for that self-satisfied jerk. Plus it's been way too long since he's seen Susan in action.
  9. Story Wednesday December 6, 2017

Unless, of course, it's prehensile hair like Mistress Nine's. Or Grace's antennae. Or Archie's antennae. Or...
  10. Story Wednesday December 6, 2017

Notice where Susan's right hand is in the last panel--mostly out of frame. Far enough out of frame for her to already be holding her sword.
  11. Story Wednesday December 6, 2017

Remember what happens when Susan un-summons a fairy. Also remember what Adrian's murder-shroud crows did in the last panel here. Thirdly, remember Susan can summon multiple fairies now And fourthly, remember this Sketchbook. What I really suspect will happen is roughly this: The monster eeked at will be the Big Mouth Vampire The Big Mouth Vampire will swallow Little Nase Little Nase will explode Everyone in the blast radius will be splattered with Big Mouth Vampire. Someone will notice Susan has a glowing sword Some geek will cry out "Look! A Jedi!" And if it doesn't go like that, it should.

First, eyes can water from anger, too. Second, Greg is going to be so jealous...
  13. Story Wednesday December 6, 2017

I think Jerry just picked Zeus as in "just right now" to emphasize that he's not the same as he was before. Immortals are kind of like Trills from Star Trek in that way; they still have something from their past life (lives) but each incarnation is a new person. Sort of. And that's sort of going back to their roots. And speaking of roots, Diane seems to be shedding the ends of her blue/black hair as it regrows from blond roots. Maybe Dan actually recognizes the symbolism here: Susan is returning to her roots, which really are the same as Diane's. And she's about to go charging off on a converging course with Adrian, and quite possibly Pandora as well.
  14. Hey, the animated Star Trek did have a few good episodes.
  15. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Here's something to think about: Has Pandora talked to Helen and Demetrius? Her current incarnation is at least a hundred times older than theirs, and I think that makes it fairly likely she can find them if she ever bothers to look for them. If Pandora has talked to them, perhaps she has persuaded them to allow Magus to regain a body all his own. But once that's accomplished...
  16. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Maybe Lamont Cranston was a founder of DGB. After all, The Shadow had the power to cloud men's minds...
  17. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Maybe Dan will retcon it someday that the magic of the original artifact included clouding memories. If Old Jerry could do that, it would encourage more inappropriate remarks and the hammering of the inappropriate remarkers.
  18. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Will all this commentary lead to Hammerchlorians II?
  19. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

These two examples are really old now and like Nanase revealing her fairy in Magic Comic Shop may have kind of slipped out of canon. They're both gags.
  20. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Hmmm. We haven't seen Helen and Demetrius except in flashback in Sister III at all. Why is that? Did Dan forget about them? Casting our minds back to So a Date at the Mall, a mere six days ago in Moperville but more than a year ago in our own world, Abner the detective reported that H & D were busy chasing vampires and not guarding Elliot any more. Now that seems true because of Lady Andrea. But they were watching Elliot at the mall; how else would they have showed up so quickly? And if they're supposed to chasing vampires now, where should they most likely be now? How about at the mall, since there are six vampires there. Or Sirleck thinks they are. Perhaps there's been some vampire attrition already? Of course, there could be even more vampires elsewhere, but given that terminating the seven previous vampires we know of seems to have taken up to the couple of months Lady Andrea was in town, just recruiting six more in six days seems a tall order in itself. There's also the fact that as far as we know, Helen and Demetrius only know three vampire fighters: Susan, Nanase, and the absent Lady Andrea--and they might not remember Susan and Nanase killing the vampire in France before their resets. So what the heck have H&D been doing? Napping since Saturday night? Come to think of it, does either Jerry or Pandora know that Susan has vampire-killing magic? Sarah and Grace told old Jerry about the vampire in France, but does new Jerry remember that? Unlike Nanase or Elliot, all the people who've witnessed Susan using magic are within Edward's trusted circle. We don't even know if her mom knows. The Hammer Exemption But Susan used to use hammers all the time, right? Tony certainly knows it, and Bad Tom mentions hammers after he gets shot down . However, all women had the ability to use hammers as long as Old Jerry's hammer artifact existed. It's a giant plot hole for anyone with lovers of logic, but there's really no way to fix it without rebuilding the entire Moperverse--you know, like George Lucas did with three awful prequels. Or, worse, Highlander II. We really should pay no attention to the man behind the curtain for this one.
  21. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Possibly because Dan has never shown Noah with Adrian where other people are around. But if Dan feels he's needed at the mall, that's where he probably is, possibly with Melissa. He could even be at the food court. The food court in the mall across the street from me has a dozen restaurants and something like a hundred tables with four chairs apiece.
  22. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Especially when you consider that the folding table doesn't appear anywhere in this comic. And since it doesn't, there's no visual indication of where in the mall it takes place. Looks to me like the problem was entirely in Dan's mind. Not to say that I've never obsessed with details that probably didn't matter much to anyone else.
  23. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

Remember the title of this chapter is Apocalypse, meaning (as has been explained in canon) a revelation. In this case, the revelation of magic, which is what Pandora has been trying to prevent for most of Sister III. The vampires have been vectored into the Mall, a mall where only six days before there was another big-time magical incident. I'd say this is probably going to be the time Carol Brown isn't too late to get live coverage. Are all six vampires toast? Of course they are. Will this cause Plan CM to fail? Reply hazy. However, there are revelations and revelations. Put the vampires out of mind for a moment and consider what that an apocalypse might mean relative to a pair of sisters.
  24. Story, Monday December 4, 2017

I wonder which three vampires are headed for the food court, and why. If the vampires are capable of enough cooperation for real tactics, this could be a feint to lure Adrian to concentrate on those three, setting up an ambush by the other three. If they have a leader, I think it would be the one with the tiny eyes and the muffler he doesn't take off. He seems smarter, and he talked down Big Mouth by implying that he has powerful magic. Big Mouth, on the other hand, is a pretty obvious redshirt.
