  1. Things that make you sad.

[Content note: Pet illness.] My wife's cat Saki is struggling with a very serious infection. Saki was born with a noticeable overbite and it has made her very prone to infections in her mouth and throat. She has been on Prednisol treatments for a rather long time now, something which concerned her vet because of long term issues but alternate treatment methods did not yield good results and without it the poor thing was just so miserable. We have been aware that this might shorten Saki's life but accepted the tradeoff so she would at least have a good life until her time came. We just hadn't expected that it might come this fast. She might still survive for now, but right now it isn't looking good. Both I and my wife are stressing over this and I've had some trouble sleeping.

And this is why it is a bad idea to unleash your inner demons, Elliot. https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-133

The Moderator: Jokes aside, this has gone WAY off the thread's topic. If you want to continue this, please start a new thread.

So it seems like Elliot has learned how to unleash his inner demons after all. https://www.egscomics.com/comic/balance-131

An old friend of mine told me of a huge war game exercise at the University of Lancaster covering diplomacy and war across the globe for the entirety of WW2. More than a hundred students participated. During this exercise, the Soviet Union displayed Putin-like mastery of war. They spotted a huge gap in the German lines and decided to punch through it and surround the Germans from the rear. This gap was also known as the Pripet Marsh, one of the biggest swamps in the world. The entire offensive ground to a screeching halt soon after entering it. The German staff calmly cut the 'offensive' off, trapping it without supplies in the Pripet. The Soviet faction did not do well after that strategic master stroke.

Well Malory didn't have a Holy Horse Shoe either, so he still fails.

Definitely worried. Very likely also impressed.
  10. Cats, Dogs, Other pets.

Explorer the Cat is so cute and always a welcome addition to the day.
  11. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

That would be very upsetting to Tensaided. With NSAID no longer available, what was left would be Teed.
  12. Video Game Discussion 5

I have concerns about the absence of a trigger guard. I also have concerns about the mechanism for ejecting spent cartridges, which would seem to be purposefully expelling them into the user's face. Though in this regard the thumb hole is not as much poor design as a safety feature: if the ammo cannot reach the firing chamber, the gun cannot mangle the shooter's face with red-hot empty casings.

Even worse, he at NO point remembered the talking animals. Even Eliot got these.

On the other hand, I am currently being investigated by the Gazpacho Police. They suspect me of being a Progresso.

Help, help, I am being oppressed!

Not really. He is not alone and he is a canny old wolf who can sense when the winds are changing. He would not have done this if he did not strongly suspect or even know that events are underway that may turn Trump into a liability he must be in a position to get away from. Upcoming revelations from the Jan 6 Committee heads my list of possibilities. On the plus side for Trumpeters, Marjorie Taylor Greene has revealed that Nancy Pelosi controls the dastardly Gazpacho Police.
  17. Comic for Wednesday 9, February 2022

I believe the original quote goes "Fishy ladies in ponds handing out swords to random passersbys is not a rational basis for creating a government." <is briefly tempted to ask this to go to the political thread instead just to brighten the place up a little>

That explains why the MyPillow guy is constantly foaming at the mouth.
  19. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

I have the deepest respect for actual Conservatives. I may disagree with them on a lot of things but at least we can discuss them. Using legitimate political discourse, even.
  20. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

The RNC has announced that beating Capitol cops to death with the American flag is legitimate political discourse. I feel ill.

  22. Comic for Monday, Feb 7, 2022

The Moderator: Please do not make this sort of joke. It is disablist and not really funny.
  23. Cats, Dogs, Other pets.

I found this Tumblr post about a Vulcan acquiring a cat in order to understand the human concept of keeping 'pets' and her struggles with it. I felt it was cute and could probably be sneaked into this thread. https://caelonaut.tumblr.com/post/675123564036374528/destinationtoast-whimsicalitywheee
